The Hi Ren is part of a series of Ren's journey with his misdiagnosis of Lyme disease, how he coped and came out the other side. He said it actually damaged his brain and that he suffered a psychotic break. He had a stem cell transplant and for the past 10 years has been able to get back into life and pursue his art music, poetry (rap) and preforming. He also busks with his band The Big Push. On January 19th his song Sic Boi was dropped. Ren is currently in Canada to get further treatment for his Lyme disease. He's hoping to no longer have any pain or side effects. Anyway, you can read about it under his Community posts found in his RUclips acct, Ren. I'm 68 and love his music. Take a deep dive, he's incredibly talented and is wildly versatile. ❤️❤️❤️

They'd been telling him his pain and exhaustion was in his head, which did his head in, which did give him mental health issues, especially since he was taking the pills and doing the therapies and the counselling which weren't helping but having decided it was mental, they weren't really looking for physical reasons anymore. He had to seek care outside the country.

Great reaction. I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. I can personally relate to many of his songs, and they deeply touch me. Ren is an incredible and unique artist; he plays multiple instruments, has great vocal ability, and is an excellent storyteller, and quite the philosopher and poet. His videos are shot live, all in one take by his friend, from what I read about him. I recommend you check out some of his other work. The trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unexpected ending; watch them in the stated order, as this is the flow of the storyline. It is a another example of Ren’s genius. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation. If you like his personal reflections, they are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. As a solo act, Ren performs a range of genres, much of it hip-hop/rap influenced, as well as guitar-based ballads. His collaborations with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling”), with Chinchilla (“How to Be Me,” “Chalk Outlines”), and his performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. I totally disagree with your assumption that it wasn't amazing musically. To deliver many different dynamics between different voices while doing the same on guitar is extremely mentally, technically, physically difficult. He doesn't need to be Andre Segovia here. Just my thoughts.

Ren is in Calgary for the next few months receiving treatment and advice on how best to manage his health issues. He has Lyme disease and Canada is where he will receive the very best of what he needs... to hopefully restore him. ❤
