- "In the garden, the mighty garden, the lion bleeps tonight."
Boy, does this tune have a history. Both lead melody and backing chant date back to 1939, composed by Solomon Linda (from South Africa) under the name Mbube. In1951, it became Wimoweh by The Weavers. A decade later, the English title and lyric, "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", was added by The Tokens. Most people seem to know the tune under this name. Namechecks go out for the Tight Fit and Lion King versions. Now here I am in 2023, playing it on a set of 5 Pocket Operators in my back garden - PO-14 Sub, PO-20 Arcade, PO-35 Speak and a pair of PO-16 Factories
I feel the the urge to sing this song is just a whim away.
Spectacular! Even better than your Hotel California
Thanks very much, kind words
Brilliant…….
You do realise that if your neighbours can’t hear that, they think you’re dancing about while using a multitude of calculators…………just the way I like it 👌
Love the weird noises around 2:00 😂
What’s everything on the table besides the 5 Pocket Operators ?
Korg Monotron Delay (adds reverb), Bastl Dude 5 channel mixer, Behringer analog to digital signal converter, and a sync splitter bought from Tindie to enable easy mixing because PO daisy chain mixing sucks for >2 PO units.
How long does it take you to program a song like this
Can I get some Harry Belafonte?
Funny you should mention... ruclips.net/video/mU75toCr2e0/видео.html
