When you listen to this beautiful piece, Beethoven wanted us to put ourselves in the time and setting he was in during the writing of this song. It was during the war, he was surrounded by death. Grieving mothers, and fathers who had lost their children. Not only as soldiers, but during the bombing and shelling of the town he was around at the time. There were lots of civilian lives lost. The loud peaks and fortes during the song are the bombs going off, followed by notes of sadness. After that the way he portrayed confusion during the middle of the first movement was genius. They were unexpected attacks that left only confusion, death, and pain. Finishing it up with sounds of panic, and fleeing during the 3rd movement of this song. If you haven't already, you should listen to them all, close your eyes, and put yourself there. Beethoven was a genius that will never be forgotten, and somewhat of an idol to me. My inspiration that lead me to learn to play piano myself 17 years ago was this song. Piano got me through alot of hard times during my teens and it's thanks to this song.
I'm going through a fight against Type 4 Astrocytoma Brain Cancer and when I can't sleep, this really does help. Even if I can't doze off, it's a peaceful, calm background. 💜
Listening to this.. at night watching the stars.. i cried my heart out as i falls asleep. Thanks for not putting any ads on this. And for making it longer.
I listen to and play many types of music, especially jazz and blues, but I truly enjoy classical music as well and it seems to me that Mr.Beethoven is the ruler of the roost...the depth of Beauty and Emotion is truly evident here. Thank you Ludwig.
This seems to make people sleep better according to the comments, but it doesn't affect me like that. It goes deep into my soul, and I find peace for a short time.
Years ago my wife practiced this song to play to me for my birthday. It was excellent, she knew I loved this song. I used it in a movie I made years ago, Tears of Life. 🌵 🎬 🎥😎👍
Absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much. I wanted to play piano as a youngster, but my hands just couldn't be flexible enough to reach all the keys. Bravo for the most beautiful playing of my favorite piece of music.👏👏👏
It truly is a great piece of music and an excellent place to start exploring the world of classical music.. It’s makes for a beautiful soundtrack for quiet contemplation and decompression.. And I’m so glad to be of service :)
I stayed up an entire night playing the resident evil 1 remake and I played this song all night to help me through it, so just here to say thanks for uploading this
Beethoven dedicated the 'Moonlight' sonata to his 16-year old lover and student, Giulietta Guicciardi, whom he had fallen in love with at around that time. He proposed marriage to her, but her father forbade her from marrying him as he was without rank.
Wow, didn't know that 😊 I know that so many people associate this piece with sadness. But I have always felt he was talking about Love and that He Loved someone very deeply and. This is what He felt when he was not with her. This explains why I have always interpreted this very Beautiful piece with love and longing 😊 Thanks for the info!!!
I just came upon this and it's a Dream Come True ❤ This is my Favorite piece of Anything by anyone else, Not to say anything about all the the other great master pieces 😊 But it's uncanny because Iwas just wishing for a video Exactly Like This One 😁😁😁😁😁 You played it so Beautifully l could close my eyes and imagine Him playing this ❤❤❤ THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO!!!!!!!!
Please Archangel Micheal… may I ask you for this gift to help me in every and all ways on this journey back home 🙏🏼😇💖 with my deepest love and gratitude- thank you 😊
I'm a huge fan of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Debussy, Tchaikovsky and my my personal Favorite Chopin. I'm a newbie and wanted to know if this song has a story or is telling a story and if so, what it is? Thanks and I appreciate you making this video as I fall a sleep to a dark screen w/ moonlight sonata as of late.
We’re glad you’re enjoying! There are a few fascinating stories and theories behind the Sonata and it is definitely worth looking up. One of the stories suggests that he was inspired to write this piece by a blind girl playing a piano!
@@WaniyaMusicRS Very interesting and TY for the theory! I will do some research and see what I find. Thank you for the reply and Thank You once again for giving me peaceful nights and relaxing moments when life gets difficult. It means a lot to me!!
Yeah there's a story in there and you could put your own story in here cuz everybody feels the song differently it speaks to others in a different way that's what's good about music excellent art form of expressing one's inner self and thoughts that allows you to interpret it in your own way how you feeling here and see it
when I was a teenager I use to write a lot of short horror/suspense stories in my spare time. sent them to friends that were made into little booklets. some of it was written by listening to old horror radio late night shows and most of it came from reading old Weird Tales magazines. I do remember one evening I put this on for 12 hours and came out with a very odd story about a man who lost his love and got lost in the graveyard she was buried in looking for grave but with exhaustion made him pass out and wake up during the night. still he searched till he was horrified by a skeleton hand rose from a grave and wrote on the tombstone.. "..she lived..she was loved..then she died..and here she lays.." I mailed it to my mother and she insisted I should send it her favorite mystery magazine "Hitchcock Mystery Magazine." I told her I wanted my story back. But 2 months later she sent me a copy of HMM and there was my story.
This brings back fond memories of my sister playing this on the piano the acoustics of my parents home made it sound like it was being played in a cathedral
The Eminence in Shadow brought me here lol this piece makes me feel like I’ve lost a kind of love that I will never get to have again in this life or the next. There is overwhelming beauty in the sadness, a longing melancholy; Christ lol I never would have survived if this came out during a break up in my 20s
One of the most beautiful pieces ever written. What talent Beethoven had. Great music for classical dancing, great listening music, so expressive and the perfect song to make love too.

What’s with the right hand pinky ?
Nice. Not too fast.
There's eminence in the shadows
Did Beethoven have 3 hands?
What frequency is this playing at?
The piano is tuned to 440hz for A4 if that’s what you’re asking ☺️

The constant white ad popups ruin this for me. I have to sleep with my monitor on and my headphones are plugged into that. Wonderful otherwise!
