  • Join us as part of the John G. Bartlett Memorial Education Series, in honor of Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) Awareness Month, which is an effort to bring greater attention to a disease that affects nearly 500,000 Americans each year. The focus of this awareness month is to reduce the burdens of C. diff by educating medical students, residents, fellows and clinicians about the research, prevention, early detection and lifesaving therapies being done. Additionally, we will hear from a patient advocate to hear about the immeasurable impact and burden of C. diff.
    Learning objectives:
    Share IDSA and SHEA updated guidance for managing patients with C. diff;
    Address the considerable proportion of CDI patients who suffer from recurrent episodes of C. diff and the increased hospitalizations / burden of disease;
    Address where C. diff is prevalent in non-health care settings;
    Address the link between socioeconomic status and the community-associated with C. diff. patients, and what can be done to reduce the risk and;
    Address the future of treatment for C. diff.

    I've been suffering for about 7 weeks with no help from my PC Dr. I've lost 15 lbs. I received more accurate information from my friends online. I finally went to my gastroenterologist and I started Vancomycin 3 days ago. My diarrhea actually slowed down 6 days ago. I'm 72 yrs old and think I've had cdiff off and on for about 7 months. I'm sick of this! But this webinar was so informative. Thank you so much.

    I lost a family member to CDiff. I had two episodes of it and was very ill. Imho… All cases due to antibiotics. Look up which ones are the worst and ask for something different. Also look up ways to change your diet, decrease carbs and alcohol, add probiotics, yogurt and drink 1-2 L water daily, don’t become dehydrated. That is very important. Get your gut healthy. Sorry Fran that you went through that. Next time go to ER and get priced meds and an IV.
    If your immune system is compromised you are more likely to get it. It appears that healthy people can handle most spores.

    I found it annoying when they had to keep asking for next slide should’ve been presented where they could control the slides themself and didn’t have to keep saying that, it took away from the presentation.
