I never thought of ranking my Elvis records, like I do with my 80's bands. I guess part of it is due to Elvis being my first musical influence since the early 60's. I grew up listening to Elvis' Golden Records from birth to 1975 when I discovered Queen. Since then I put Elvis aside until about 2010, when I decided to explore Elvis' entire catalog as an adult to see if my fandom still held up. In the middle of that decade, I discover the FOLLOW THAT DREAM (FTD) record label and started re-buying my entire Elvis collection for the second time with these new releases. It's been fun hearing Elvis all over again. Live shows, outtakes, etc.

I didn’t grow up on Elvis, my parents were hippies that thought of Elvis as being kind of a joke. I discovered him on my own as a young adult. I’ve been a huge fan ever since. Obviously Elvis is much different than most of the other artists I listen to based on the fact that he doesn’t write his own material. It makes ranking his albums a unique endeavor.

Really enjoyed your video! The seventies isn't my favourite decade but I grew up in the 50s and 60s and the fifties music has special meaning. Still, like you I love everything the King did.

In the end it all comes down to taste. Elvis Country would be my favorite '70s album, follow by That's The Way It Is and Promised Land. Enjoyed your video and argumentation though. Thanks.

I totally agree with you, it’s all about individual taste with these records. The important thing to remember is, when it comes to Elvis, there aren’t any wrong answers……it’s all great!

I agree about Got A Thing About You Baby. I love that song and is in my Elvis top 10. Interesting that your 2 favourite Elvis songs are written by Canadians. Cool. I love this video. I love your passion for these records. There is no one in the Elvis RUclips universe who talks about his music with the passion you do. What do you think if version recorded a version of the song Feelings? Solitaire reminds me of that song. You’re speaking my language as far as his 70s output. Thank you.

@@Archaicrecords76 As far as the 70s, the year I also became a huge Elvis fan I would have to say Promised Land. I’m like you though, I love all those records. The Christmas and gospel included. I purchased them on release and so they were a huge part of the Christmas season then and now.

What?? 😵‍💫🤯 Fool is absolutely one of the best ones! It's a concept album about heartbreak and the stages of grief. It's gut-wrenching. Course, I also think his gospel music is his best stuff, and I love his country/folk music 🤷‍♂️

    • @Archaicrecords76
      @Archaicrecords76  6 месяцев назад +1

I like Fool. Never said that I didn’t. But, for the sake of this conversation……it’s my least favorite of this lot. As far as Elvis Country……again, I like it, but there’s some clunkage on it. The better songs on Elvis Country though……are the goods!

    • @eaptcbinaflash1
      @eaptcbinaflash1 6 месяцев назад +2

@Archaicrecords76 I think your list is reversed 🤷‍♂️😆
Moody Blue and Elvis Now both have some of his best work on them, but both have clunkers and don't flow well as a complete album. Elvis Country and Fool are cohesive and excellent as a whole package. Boulevard is hands down the best from the 70s "studio" albums, though.
      Boulevard
      Elvis Country
      Promise Land
      Fool
      Good Times
      Today
      Moody Blue
      Elvis Now

Lol, who am I kidding 😅 I love them all equally! 🙈

Yeah... the 1973 "Fool" album was so great that RCA deleted it from their catalog about a year (or less) after it was released. 😆😅😂 And it really wasn't a "concept album". It was mostly an album of leftovers clustered together & released in order to fill contractual obligations.

though i think its hard to beat elvis' 1969 live shows i am most definitely an elvis 1970s girl
my biggest problem with the 1970s albums is felton jarvis
i have no problem with felton & truly appreciate the love & loyalty between elvis & felton i feel like he had a bad habit of overproducing elvis' songs
elvis was too often drowned out with unnecessary instrumentation and too loud background vocals
elvis should always be front & center
its why i prefer alt takes & undubbed version to most album tracks
when it comes to moody blue & from elvis presley blvd i always go to the jungle room sessions instead
to me it is the best & most honest work he ever did in his entire career
& jungle room sessions are pure elvis without all the production
and will always be # 1 for me
i agree she thinks i still care is possibly my favorite vocal of his
it is so incredibly haunting & beautiful
also agree honky tonk angel & snowbird are very favorites
i am firmly a elvis on tour > ttwii fan
elvis on tour has my whole heart
though i agree the ttwii rehearsals & outtakes are precious
how the web was woven > love me tender & it isn't even close
just pretend & words both sublime
people can say what they want about elvis live in 1976 & 77
but his dec 1976 "in five days" tour proves elvis still had plenty left in the tank
especially the legendary pittsburgh new yrs eve show
one of the best live shows of his entire career
i admire you being able to rank them because its something i just can't do lol i love & treasure them all
    happy to find your ch
    new sub :)

Quelli che hai presentato li ho tutti ,anche nuovi mai ascoltati ,se non puoi aiutarmi capisco e non mi offendo .Grazie

I can't believe that Elvis Christmas album was discarded his Christmas music was phenomenal quite disappointing also any of his music of the fifties so young at that time this is Elvis at the beginning so you can't really compare as he matured in his career

Promised land was done in quadraphonic. Fav on the album for me is It's Midnight. I would have put TTWII at no1 70s album. Madison square and the Aloha was great live albums although I think An afternoon in the garden is better than the original evening show.

  • @gaborkasza1641

It was good to listen to someone else's picks. Notes: you don't like the gospell album, the christmas album, the country album. Strange, cause Elvis was half country and half gospell. Love lettets is as country as Elvis country (by the way a very good concept album), and was cut during the same sessions in Nashville when also studio recordings of TTWII was cut. Elvis Now had a lot of leftover from his earlier sessions (even from 69 Hey Jude thats probably the worst pick from the American recordings), but still a lot of country and gospell on it I think that's a much weaker album as Today for example. The Fool album includes mostly jam session leftovers some materials had to be released after the success of Aloha - shame on RCA. But anyway, congrats to the chanell. Elvis forever!
