Bro this is what I was searching for a couple of days. I've started to use vs code recently and actually didn't know I have to choose a formatter after installing the prettier. Thanks a lot!
Thank you so much! :) I do appreciate that you guys put content out there for free. Your native accent is also easily understandable for us who speak English only as a second language. I am very grateful for this! :)
thanx bro i was so annoyed that why my prettier isn't working i saw lots of video but every one is doing same thing just enabling it as default formatter ... but you solved my issue thank you so much...
Sweet got it working, i did think it would just apply to every file once installed instead of having to add .prettierrc to a folder. Neat anyway cheers!
i am using the 2022 vs code community edition so i cleck the extension and then manage exitinstions but i cant find prettier and i cant find it and same goes to live server
Thanks for this. Best I've found after much looking. However, after following your instruction to the letter and hitting the format command I get a message "There is no formatter for 'python' files installed: Install formatter". I'm using VSC for python and the file I'm trying to format is a python file. So I get back to where I start installing a formatter. Your advice much appreciated.
Unless you want eslint this setting shouldn't make a difference when it comes to the prettier extension. Did you create a config file in the root of your project?
Nice video, sure helped me to format.Ironically i use this for html ,because thats why i came here ,if there is any better formatter for html lemme know.
Is business context, features, maintainability and extendibility not the main drivers of your project but redux, react, vue or router? Do you like to change one variable name into another variable name 40 times in a file to inflate commits? Do you like working in a team of 20 people creating 20 discreate features in a project but somehow editing the same fuckin 3000 line file creating 2^20 conflicts and shouting and fighting each other as the project grinds to a halt because some people like spaces after braces in object literals and some don't? PRETTIER! Fight the formatting tool, not your collogues!! Definitely not the challenges put forth by your product designer! While ensuring that you can write the same shitty code in the same shitty way until the next regression in programing comes in (agham ,... ahgrHooks) and you start writing even more shittier code in an even more shittier way! But it looks so damn fucking good on an 80 column Commodore 128.

I keep coming back to this video every time I mess up something in my prettier. A treasure trove of info in one place!
I had not set prettier as default formatted. Following your very first instruction did the job man. Thanks a lot.

OMG thank you so much! At 4:55 is exactly what i needed to ignore certain languages from prettier formatting!
Got everything up and working, thanks! Also thank god you can omit certain files from being automatically formatted.
This is the only video that worked for me, thank you so much!

The other videos I've seen on this didn't include .prettierrc and .prettierignore. Thank you for showing us how to set those up!

My settings aren't visual (no tick boxes or anything), it's just text. Is there a setting for this?
It worked perfectly for me!! Thank you
When adding the ".prettierrc" file it does not correct the icon to the proper prettier p and does not appear in my index.js. Any ideas?

Hello mate, thks. But prettieerc file works globally?
Thanks a lot. It just works.
.prettierignore not working 😬 Why? 🙁
Question: the formatter settings, should Eslint > Format be selected?
I can’t get my prettier format on save to work for anything.
Unless you want eslint this setting shouldn't make a difference when it comes to the prettier extension. Did you create a config file in the root of your project?
Thank you.
It works!!!
My G been having trouble on this shit. I only have to set the config to TRUE. Thank you.
