Hope you enjoy our day out at the Criterium du Dauphine stage on the Col de Joux Plane. If you have any questions please drop them in below. Thanks for watching , Mike :-)
@@CyclingInTheAlps we were looking for you but didn’t see you. Think I was too busy reminiscing about the day I eventually conquered Col de Joux Plane 😀. Can’t wait to do it again!
Great video and tips Mike. Next time over will be to watch Dauphine, seemed so much easier as you said than the tour!. Recognise the bakery for lunch I think, also brings back memories of the Joux Plan, gurt lush climb!
Thanks Andy - Dauphine is much easier and more time for riding. Only problem is the ASO not releasing the route until the beginning of March but we usualy get lucky with a stage or two!
Great vid Mike. So nice to see your personality shining through and you clearly just enjoying yourself - not easy to capture I imagine - brilliant job 😊
Oh yes, we stopped at that little patisserie in 2016. I was amazed at the layout and variety of baked goods. But like good cyclists, we ate like birds when really we wanted to gorge like wolves! We are an odd lot, even when we're on holiday!
My favourite yet Mike, cheekiest comment ever ......'this video isn't sponsored by Planet - X....but it could be!' ha ha ha, love it ! I'd really like to see more like this where we not only see fab cycling, fab scenery but we get to see the real you too :-)
That looked like a totally awesome day out. Sadly, I was most fascinated by the water pump thing at the end! One question I have is how long before the race gets to you do they close the roads? Great video and a brilliant insight to a spectator's experience. JP
Thanks for watching. Yes those water pumps are great - brings it straight from the mains water system - super cold! For the Tour de France the roads will shut around 4 hours before the riders arrive as the Tour de France publicity caravan goes through. On some of the high cols and places like Alpe D'Huez and Ventoux then the road will likely be closed to motor traffic the day before unless you have a permit. The Criterium du Dauphine is much easier - maybe 90 minutes prior for cars and then 45 mins before for cycles.
