We had a guy show up this summer an tell me to dump a cord of split pine in his truck . Swore up and down it would fit lol . Even bet me $1 . After the first half cord pallet rounded his truck he handed me the $1 and I kept it with a smile .
Around here they add sideboard extensions to raise the height. They’ll load two cords 😮. My oak supplier’s f150’s receiver hitch rides about 3 inches off the ground, lol😂.
Usually 2-3 times per season I will deliver 2/3 of a cord at once with my 03 Dodge 2500 (2 IBC totes of split wood in the bed). Only for short distances though. Glad to see the firewood racks are movin!
Hey Russ the Tundra, did good 2ith holding 1cord of Wood. Nice Splitting of the Ash Rounds with you and Kevin. Staying in today, and Recovering a little more. Going out tomorrow for 1hour cutting Rounds up. I will split them In the Basement during the Week. Just to Wet out today but going to be Pushing 50 out Tomorrow. You stay Safe out there my Friend. Ron from the Woodyard in Upstate NY.
I know my F250 can hold a cord(and handle it) with sides on it, but i like it too much to haul that much weight all at once. Glad Gramps 8s enjoying the comments. 😉👍
I been using the same unloader and it works somewhat with split firewood. Have to hand unload the end near tailgate then crank some off the truck. Then there's a bunch left in and have to jump in and hand unload the rest 😢
Yeah buddy, 1/2 cord of split on my Tundra is just fine. Maybe some day I’ll cut some plywood for the sides and heap a cord on but for now the dump trailer is just fine. Haha 👍👊
That’s a lot of wood on a Tundra, Russ. I personally wouldn’t put half of that on, lol. You answered my question while I was still watching your video…. Half of the 🪵. Well done to the both of you. Russ. How long does it take for your hardwood to dry after you split it? Mine takes nearly two years.
With a standard 8 foot pick up bed, a 1/2 ton truck will easily carry a full cord, 4x4x8= one cord. Some guys may have sideboards on their truck to keep the pile together but I have hauled a full cord on my trucks plenty of times without issue. It’s heavy but if your vehicle has decent suspension and tires you’re good to go.
Russ I know it's already to late but are you going to put a head ace rack on the Tundra so you don't lose another window ? Nice load of wood guy's 👍, I built sides so I can pile 4foot high on my old F250 & I haul a cord & a half dry spruce, But 3/4 ton & 8foot box :) Way back in some of my first videos I go out with truck & trailer for a 3 cord day :) just about done me in for a week lol !
Willey as I am sure you are aware Maine Law states two ways to measure a cord. Left in the round and 4' length, it measures 4' x 4' x 8'. Once processed, by Maine Law, a thrown or loose cord must measure a minimum of 180 cubic feet.Be nice to know if other states have such laws? Maybe your viewers can comment?
