Great analysis from Todd on the manager situation. I commented yesterday that some supporters are obsessed with sacking Clement, without thinking of the alternatives and consequences. I’m not saying Clement is untouchable, but yesterday was on the team ( Igamane excused ) not on the manager.
@ Yeah that is probably true also. I thought he sent the players out with the correct tactics and mentality at the start of both halves , but the players drifted back into the usual routine, and lost focus. As I said the manager isn’t untouchable or blameless ( in an overall sense ) , but I don’t think Guardiola could get a tune out of this team, therefore who replaces him. The usual suspects of McInnes, Muscat, Lampard all have baggage and don’t inspire me at all.
@@johnmontague4245 The consequences are the board hire a truly terrible manager to replace him, but its something we as fans shouldnt have to fear. Our board shouldnt be so stupid where we need to hang onto a manager whos clearly massively struggling with adapting to scottish football. Lampard and mciness shouldnt be on the shortlist to replace clement. an argument can be made for the likes of muscat and knutsen who play a style of football the dross in this league cant cope with.
It’s a depth issue at the moment for the manager, domestically anyway. Similar to Gerrard’s season 1 and 2. We were relying on guys like Greg Stewart and Glenn Middleton in those days as ‘back up’ and constantly fell short when needing a goal. In the 3rd season we had the likes of Roofe, Defoe, Itten etc and that solved the problems of the first 2 seasons. We’re seeing the same at the moment defensively. We don’t have the depth to cope with the injuries at the moment.
Solved the problem is being very kind to gerrard i feel. The amount of scrappy wins from nowhere in the title winning season is something i've never seen before. Some of the football we played in that season was utterly dreadful to watch.
@_Kid_Buu_ go back and look at the results in the late 90s. 2-1. 1-0. 3-2. And the football was dire outwith flashes of brilliance from the likes of Gazza or Laudrup.
We were warned last season, in pre season and even John Bennet came out and spelled it out; this is going to be a painful season, we were never challenging for the league yet some of our ‘less intelligent’ supporters ignored all of that and expect instant results and for us to be on sellick’s coattails. Moronic, short sighted stuff and thats the reason we’re in the situation we are in. The manager isn’t going anywhere with us 1/3 of the way through a complete rebuild. We’re still 4/5 players away from being anything like the side we want us to be. Basically, if you want the manager sacked now then you’re an idiot and should probably just keep your mouth shut because it’s not doing the players any favours.
The truth is the fans don't have the appetite for a rebuild. They want instant success even though it's incredibly unrealistic. Einstein said the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...so why would sacking yet another manager mid season do any good?
Lacking strength in depth, had the igamame chance gone in totally different narrative Performance couldn't be faulted for effort, however we were really naive in parts
We have too many short sighted fans who can't see past their own noses. Yes the away form is terrible and needs addressed, but they completely ignore any positives or extenuating circumstances Clement has faced as well. - Hampden shambles - been told to downsize this summer and sign a different profile of player (young, with potential) - been left with deadwood on enormous wages (Dowell, Davies, Matondo etc) I'm sick of the bipolar nature of our support. They said he's only beat Rodgers 1 game in 7...but at the same token the same people will be tweeting and posting on forums saying how we were cheated against several with dodgy decisions in several of the games. On top of that we've had a horrific list of injuries that any manager would struggle with...just look at our back 4 that finished vs Hibs. Guardiola lost 1 player in Rodri and they've crumbled! We gave Gerrard time even though Celtic won 2 trebles in his first 2 seasons, why are the knives out for Clement when he's arguably up against a tougher Celtic team and he's had to downsize whereas Gerrard had carte blanche? He's already proven he can punch above our weight in Europe (Nice, Olympiakos, Spurs) and we can compete with Celtic. We desperately need reinforcements, especially defenders and people need to stop being so reactive after one bad performance.
Think the club know that they will be closer to 3rd than 1st. Clement probably good enough manager to finish 2nd. Won't be moving us forward domestically but decent in European competition.
We need to get back to basics being hard to beat and just out fighting the opposition with fitter, stronger players Europe will take a hit but remember we play in the SPFL let's be the bullies we used to be with more Scots in the team and dare I say it a Scottish coach
Disagree, being hard to beat is what teams like killie and dundee do, we must aim higher than that if want to win titles. Were rangers, not a dross team in the spl, we should be ripping teams apart every single game. The only team who should cause issues is celtic at parkhead, outside of that no one should be of any concern. We show the dross too much respect and thats our problem.
Agreed, so many are now making excuses for him because he beat what is a very average celtic team. The away record is the worst i've seen in my time watching rangers outside of coming up the leagues.
@@_Kid_Buu_ A very average Celtic team? Whether we like it or not they're flying in Europe and have only conceded 4 goals all season apart from the games against us.
@@davidt510 Theyre flying in the easiest champions league group in history, and theyre dominating in a league where their biggest rivals havent shown up for this season. So yes, theyre a very average team. The league is semi pro at best.
All comes down to what the standards are now imo, if we’re happy to be second best let Celtic win the league each year maybe nick a cup every now and then and do well in Europe clement is decent if you want to be the top boys in Scotland he won’t be the man

I agree but the manager was partly responsible for yesterday's draw. He watched us collapse. If it wasn't for Igamane we'd have lost that game.

It's not our job to think of alternatives, it's the boards job but we all know how incompetent they are. Clement should have been sacked months ago.
I do like when Todd is on.
I can sort of predict what most UK pundits have to say, But Todd
always has a perspective I never thought of.
