Hi! Which way respects the ergonomics better? with or without the cushion? I mean, to get the knees higher than the hip and avoid dysplasia. Do you think this carrier is a good option if you want to check ergonomics? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your questions. Firstly, just to clarify, it is not possible to cause dysplasia. However, as it is not always picked up, the general thinking is that surely all babies will benefit from being supported ergonomically. i.e. with knees higher than bottom, supported from one knee-pit to the other.
Every method of using the Beco 8, inward facing, will support baby an ergonomic position, providing the appropriate position is chosen for their size and developmental stage. It is important not to over-extend the legs so always ensure the lower leg can hang vertically. My dolls don't 'bend' in the same way a baby would do so it is not possible to give a 100% accurate replication using dolls. If you're at all unsure about using your carrier it's worth seeing a Babywearing Consultant - either in person or via video call - so they can run through positioning with you and your little one, face-to-face.
      I hope that helps!

@@SouthEastSlings Thank you for your kind and detailed answer! :) I also asked the Beco team and they told me their carriers are certified by Hip Dysplasia Institute. So I'm probably buying it :) Thanks again, have a good day!

@@juanv5375 Yes - they're all certified as hip-healthy by the Hip Dysplasia Institute. Using your chosen carrier correctly is key to ensuring an ergonomic position.

Can you do It with a real baby? Feels as though his hips are going to break putting his legs that far apart

Thank you for your comment. Baby should be held in the position they naturally curl up in - with their knees above bottom. Generally for the first few months baby's knees are hip-width apart. As they develop, their legs will wrap around you more.
With the demo doll I attempt to replicate the natural leg and hip position of a baby as closely as possible but, as it doesn't have muscle control, it is not always possible to achieve 100% accuracy and the legs do tend to 'drop'.
If you listen to the commentary, I go through the details of how to ensure their legs and hips are in an ergonomic position, appropriate for their developmental stage.
