I think you misinterpreted what it meant. Smash is not a traditional fighter at all. It's a fighter mixed with elements of a party game. What it said at first was "normal fighting game intros" and not "a normal fighting game's intro". They were only talking about the intros that come before the match as normal not the game itself.
