- We dive into the Toretto Charger and what's been happening with it while we continue to move into the new shop. The first fire for the engine and the hood is cut, but do we have regrets?

It's real and actually works! We also moved the entire drivetrain over 1.5 inches so the whole thing is centered on the hood.

We suspect 900 or more is pretty accurate. And thanks for the input on the bonus footage. We wanted to try something a little different. We film so much but only get to use a fraction of it.

The only way to make this build even better would be to add a 6 speed Lenco Transmission..purely because it looked like Toretto shifted gears at least 6 times before he crossed the train tracks 😄 cant wait to see the finished result!
Yah, we had to draw a line somewhere or we could have just gone way overboard.

I feel like the Supra just fired up and ran well. Seriously, what a MONSTA! The work into getting the hood to open/close and clear everything and be structurally beefed up was such a task but paid off big time in the end. I can’t get over the work you e put into both cars.
The difference you're noticing in the two engine builds comes down to mostly the components used. The 2J was simple and thoughtful upgrades. The Hemi was seen on film with the parts we used. We had to make them all work together. That was a task!
@@JustDriven : I know, I know, it was just a playful dig. You know, muscle versus import. I got a kick out of the EFI system in the Charger and using a laptop to tune; what a contrast to the original Charger and old-school muscle which, way back when was way more mechanical. Back then, the imports were the ones using laptops and electronics to tune. How the world changes, huh?
Yah, it's strange to think of how much tuning has changed in both scenes over the years.

We have been debating on doing cost breakdowns on the Supra and the Charger but ultimately have not decided on what to do yet.

I think it's capable of 1015Hp! It's beautiful I actually been dreaming of building the exact car at some point in my life! 572 Aluminum Hemi 871 Blower! Dana 60 Rear or a badass built 9 inch! Real cage and I want to run it at the track or Race it once in awhile! But street drive it! AC and power windows! Beautiful job guys! She's Bad!!!!

Still so glad to see an authentic and functional charger being built to the similar specs of what it was in the first movie. Also makes me wish it was going in my parking spot when it’s finished! and have this car would be a dream of many. Since this car is being built maybe you could build them for other people looking for the same thing?

judging by the engine spec it can be anything ridiculous which all depends on boost, street friendly and keep it to last long i would say 1170HP ......... but it would be kool to get it up to 1970hp ( charger lol )
There are a lot of guesses around 1200. We would be very happy with that number. But we will have to see what Danny can do. Fingers crossed.

No idea on power except hopefully over one thousand. Don't remember if you stiffened the body up or not but it's gonna need it. and some caltracks.
Body is sured up so hopefully there is no "twisting coming off the line."

We had a custom exhaust created by BSide Fabrication to look like the movie car but sound mean as heck too!

That car sounded just as angry and nasty as I hoped it would. What a fantastic build. The Supra is cool, but you just can't beat a black Charger with the engine poking out the hood...
That engine is less "poking out of the hood," and more "towering over the hood casting a long shadow and striking fear into the hearts of all who oppose."
U guys should build the 2 fast 2 furious skyline it's literally the most iconic skyline in history

The only way you till keep the exhaust quiet on a blown 572 Hemi is to not start the car. Not sure of what compression, cam and heads you're running on that 572 but I am assuming it is all very, very tame. My guess approx ~850-900hp which is plenty. The supercharger will be the biggest restricting factor on this engine given the engine's displacement.
Looking at the engine -superficially at least- keep the BME/World Products block safely under 1500hp and it'll be just fine.

If you need something squishy try a wood spacer older folks use to use them and the car would be fine for the most part

After seeing finnegans struggles to make 4 digit hp with a blown hemi, im gonna guess around 900-950 hp... but like 1300 lb ft of torque. Honestly dont care if it makes 600 hp that view alone is worth it!
The sound and presence of this engine alone are worth it.
The Hemi engines are known to have monster horsepower and with the engine being 572ci, I think it will make 1,000 hp.

I see now why top fuel and other blown drag cars squirt a little fuel down the blower before starting you're not putting so much stress on the starter.
The starter does get pretty beat up.

Incredible work on the car but that hood is beyond nice for the amount of fabrication.

This is much better than the movie car haha but it is better when u race this car in drag strip
Both the Supra and the Charger we built are better than the movie cars. And hopefully we can find a spot to race these two, preferably without trucks or trains.
It's lookin good can't wait to see it side by side with the Supra and I think it's going to make anywhere from 750hp to 850hp

572 blown Hemi will make at least 900 HP @ 6400. Torque is gonna be at 1,200. On 91 Octane ... the question then becomes putting that down on the street after getting the tire pressure & squat factor masterrd
We were going to run this on E85 only, but we may change things up a bit.

572 ci hemi right and that’s also a 871 blower ?? if I am correct a gm 572 crate engine makes 700 horsepower naturally aspirated right and this is a 2ng gen hemi so should make the same power na so it should make 1,000 horsepower or at least 800-900 horsepower at the wheels or more 🤷🏽♂️

Horsepower! Ill say 1,000hp when its dyno tuned. If your running low boost probably 850hp. I know mike Finnigan blasphemy makes 1200hp on kill. So" thats my guess

All the same components were used as seen in the movie. The sounds should be close when we are done.

We had lots of the movie car engine components. So we do have some limits.
When will there be a driving test for this Charger?
We need to get a base map on it. Then sort out any potential issues before a full dyno session. Then driving!

The car in the movie that did the wheelie was a movie car designed for that task. We didn't build it for that reason.
Before I can answer how many horsepower I think it has what is the under drive on the blower?
Hawaii Racing set that up for target boost. We don't want to give away all the details!
Well, I myself had a Merlin 454 punched out to a 468 that was 8% under driven and had 1100 hp without the nitrous. So I'd probably have to guess at least 1200 with that set up.
What is the name of this charger and can it be put on an engine? V8 Old, note that the engine runs on a carburetor

The hood is understandable but I'm not backing off on how horrible and not movie accurate that console is..Great job guys!
Center console wasn't in the movie...so we could've done anything really. But we decided to do something we liked. Something to elevate the build further. At least this comment had some positivity this time. Thanks for watching.
Honestly the console looks fantastic.. In the movie the only thing you see for a split second is the B&M shifter. If it bothers you that bad build your own Hot Rod and then you can brag cause it's your own creation. In this case give some credit to the hard work these guys do, they deserve it. This is by far one of the most accurately detailed "The Fast and Furious Chargers ever built as far as the first film.

I estimate atleast 1000 to 1200 hp i mean come on it is a hemi dont know about the movie car but a hemi charger should have came with a dana 60 rear couldnt tell if it was a 60 or 83/4 it looks like a 60

We have to make sure his insurance is updated.
Uninsured drivers may be covered if they're borrowing an insured car with permission from the owner. The vehicle owner's insurance can cover damages based on the policy's coverages and limits. If the policy doesn't cover some of the damage or the damage exceeds policy limits, the driver could be held personally liable to cover any additional damages related to the accident.
So they claim 700hp on n/a and I would say race gas can add up to 100hp plus a screw blower making anywhere from 150hp to 300hp so I'm going to say @ 6,500rpm 1180hp 🤘😎
Yah, as we mentioned in your other comment we are going to only run this on E85. It's just safer and we've had great results from our other vehicles we run with E.

With so much attention to detail to make the Toretto Charger then you should be using a distrubutor and plugs and not coil spark plugs if you are going to replica.

The Charger in the movie that was used during that first sequence was a wheelie car. Designed specifically for getting the front two wheels off of the ground. We doubt this car will see that kind of action.
@@JustDriven It'll definately have enough power to wheelie, and if you're gonna put down the best 1/4 mile times it will - but that kind of setup is not really street friendly. all soft up front and hard in back with high centre of gravity for weight transfer off the line. but you probably know that stuff

If it doesn’t make 1200-1400hp it will be sad….
We won't cry though. We have a lot of limitation since much of the motor build was seen on screen. We are trying to squeeze what we can out of what we have!
Sounds amazing for sure! I’m just comparing it to a K series 4cyl that can make 800 reliably 😊 but this is one sexy car and I want to build one myself some day… great job crew
