How many can you say still have all their original band members from the very beginning? Using proper FM synthesis during a live setting and having to make it sync up with different parts of a piece is nearing levels of rocket science. And that olde synthesis is fleeting as all heck at times, it just lives it's own life.

It's an analog synth so the timing can still be messed up. Differences in temperature, humidity etc. can cause jerky/shuffling timining and glitches for analog synths.
+MrDjisse yeah, chill everyone, it's not like this hasn't happened to every band there ever was...touring's hard, lots of pressure, tempers flare, screwing up in front of thousands can be rough...everyone just needed to take a mo' and calm it on down.
As a musician I can’t imagine many things scarier than trying to patch a modular synth to a specific pattern with Thom Yorke breathing down my neck. I also know next to nothing about how to use modular synths, which is probably part of the reason why.
People need to not get mad at them... Thom or Jonny... they both fucked up... Jonny fucked up by not handling the synth correctly and Thom fucked up by leaving but it happens... and it's easy to call it unprofessional when you're sitting at your computer but when you're actually going on tours and playing long shows it probably gets so stressful and having a performance get fucked is enough to make you that angry.
Just goes to show that after so many years Thom still cares about getting the songs done right. This is a good sign for any Radiohead fan. And even now, years later they are still making music and passionate about what they do. That's what you want to see.
Thom Yorke take seriously what he does, more than the majority of the musicians out there. The music is everthing for him, and the moment he goes up on stage is the reason why he live.. so ok he's not the best person to stay with (socially) but if you try to understand him you can understand why he act like that when some things going wrong during lives.. so it's ok to wrong during a song but it's ok to get mad about that too
I was there when this happened. Totally thought it was the end of the show, but luckily they came back out for an encore (and the obligatory Everything In Its Right Place)
I can almost guarantee that there would have been zero negative tension backstage after this happened. Thom basically worships Jonny's technical and musical capabilities. Jonny is continuously taking risks and pushing boundaries, and if there is one single factor that makes Radiohead exceptional, that would be it. Besides, Thom doesn't seem the least bit emotional or frustrated. It was a case of them experiencing a rare glitch, which will almost certainly be identified and corrected before the next show. Accept defeat, shrug shoulders, have a cigarette break, finish the set with something more straightforward. No big deal.
Thom's reaction is hardly surprising. He's a perfectionist. Besides, they work so incredibly hard for every album that after every album release they are all struggling with burnout and basically hate each other. Especially Thom who has struggled with depression more than once because of the stress and pressure.
Lol imagine trying to operate a machine with 1000000 buttons to make an extremely specific beat with Thom Yorke getting angry behind you.

everybody makes mistakes, no big deal...I think all of Jonny's awesomeness leading up to this moment is more than enough to allow for a mistake or two
People need to not get mad at them...
I just hope they don't end the band just because of this. They're too awesome.
9 years later, they didn't.
@@dimitristsekeris1821good ending
10 years later... Hmm, The Smile
11 now, and still no
this is awesome. i don’t think i would focus on how insane their beats are if it wasn’t for videos like this
The same thing happened in Peru in 2018, poor Jonny, you can tell that "idioteque" is a difficult song to play live
That's what happens when you rely on a TI-83 for the music.
Just goes to show that after so many years Thom still cares about getting the songs done right. This is a good sign for any Radiohead fan. And even now, years later they are still making music and passionate about what they do. That's what you want to see.
if he cared so much then he should keep still when he sings
Jonny I love you.
when jonny stopped time lmao
faster jonny! faster jonny! faster jonny! not that fast jonny!!
I love how everything's going to shit and Phil is just there totally oblivious, having the time of his life, shaking his shaker away to himself
I can’t even tell that it’s off beat. It legitimately sounds good to me.
awwwww jonnyyyy :( i dont really like how thom acted :/
thom is a known dickhead
Thom was right to be stressed, he game back, apologized and even played more songs that originally intended, tell me how is that a dick move.
Thom Yorke take seriously what he does, more than the majority of the musicians out there. The music is everthing for him, and the moment he goes up on stage is the reason why he live.. so ok he's not the best person to stay with (socially) but if you try to understand him you can understand why he act like that when some things going wrong during lives.. so it's ok to wrong during a song but it's ok to get mad about that too
He once said in an interview that he's a very angry person generally, while that wasn't nice of him to do, he fixed the situation
Well it sounded like shit
I was there when this happened. Totally thought it was the end of the show, but luckily they came back out for an encore (and the obligatory Everything In Its Right Place)
omg no Thom! I'm crying! Poor Jonny 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Surprising that he walked off stage rather than just laughing off the mistake. The crowd loves it either way.
Jonny you're still my hero
I can almost guarantee that there would have been zero negative tension backstage after this happened. Thom basically worships Jonny's technical and musical capabilities. Jonny is continuously taking risks and pushing boundaries, and if there is one single factor that makes Radiohead exceptional, that would be it. Besides, Thom doesn't seem the least bit emotional or frustrated. It was a case of them experiencing a rare glitch, which will almost certainly be identified and corrected before the next show. Accept defeat, shrug shoulders, have a cigarette break, finish the set with something more straightforward. No big deal.
Johnny: "Okay Colin i come now" 2:16
It's like thom is possessed by a music spirit and he's merely an interpreter ❤️
"leave jonny alone"
Thom's reaction is hardly surprising. He's a perfectionist. Besides, they work so incredibly hard for every album that after every album release they are all struggling with burnout and basically hate each other. Especially Thom who has struggled with depression more than once because of the stress and pressure.
