I read a lot of good reviews about Hannah Gadsby's Netflix special so I sat down to watch it. I didn't last long. Easily the most unfunny human on the face of the Earth. Dave Chapelle though - he's the real thing and always has been.

I had never watched Dave Chappelle until Trans started trying to cancel him, then I sat down in 1 night and watched every special he has on Netflix including his David Letterman interview. Dave Chapelle calling Hannah Gadsby out for being unfunny is probably going to be the single most significant thing to happen to her and her career. I had never heard of her before he spoke of her, and afterwards, I felt compelled to see for myself how funny or unfunny she actually is. No press is bad press, I suppose.

After hearing and reading what Gatsby has stated, it seems to me that the problem is that Dave Chappelle got paid $20 million for his work and she didn’t. It’s subtle buts it’s in there. The big problem with that is that just because you think you deserve to get paid the same doesn’t justify it. Dave Chappelle has proven to be worth whatever Netflix pays him because he draws a large audience. No one is going to pay out that kind of money to someone who isn’t drawing a big enough audience in. If the Great Gatsby brings in a $20 million dollar audience, that’s when Netflix or other entertainment studio will write that kind of check. You don’t get it unless you prove you’re worth it.

Since it's supposed to signify a gathering of people, the letters could really go in any order and it wouldn't be incorrect. After watching the Dave Chappelle clip, I looked up Hannah Gadsby with an open mind. I was genuinely thinking "Oh c'mon Dave, she can't be THAT bad..." Yes. Yes, she is. She was mind-numbingly unfunny.
Nanette was very eye opening (hopefully) to misogyny and how we have glorified it. It absolutely is not funny. But that was the point of the special. I appreciated the perspective. Tell me the Daphne story wasn't an unexpected tragic crush for all of us who actually watched the special - to be taken from laughter to anger at the bullying cruelty dumped onto Daphne by her "people" to a literal gasp made by the audience (and definitely by me) upon hearing Daphne's sad end - Dave Chappelle masterfully wove that story, making me an even bigger fan of his work.
We live in a cruel world now days and sometimes humor is a good way for us to escape the real world and enjoy a good laugh. And thats where Dave comes in. He is hands down one of the funniest comedians on the planet. He says whats on his mind and whether people say it or not, most of us agree with him.
This battle with Dave and even the one with Rogan vs. CNN reminds me of that scene in A Bug's Life when all of the ants suddenly realize there are WAY more of them than the grasshoppers, and they send the grasshoppers and their protection racket packing. The same thing is starting to happen in the real world now too.

After hearing and reading what Gatsby has stated, it seems to me that the problem is that Dave Chappelle got paid $20 million for his work and she didn’t. It’s subtle buts it’s in there. The big problem with that is that just because you think you deserve to get paid the same doesn’t justify it. Dave Chappelle has proven to be worth whatever Netflix pays him because he draws a large audience. No one is going to pay out that kind of money to someone who isn’t drawing a big enough audience in. If the Great Gatsby brings in a $20 million dollar audience, that’s when Netflix or other entertainment studio will write that kind of check. You don’t get it unless you prove you’re worth it.

You are correct but it isn't an actual acronym, just a generally-accepted ordering of letters... for some reason. Since it's supposed to signify a gathering of people, the letters could really go in any order and it wouldn't be incorrect. Tell me the Daphne story wasn't an unexpected tragic crush for all of us who actually watched the special - to be taken from laughter to anger at the bullying cruelty dumped onto Daphne by her "people" to a literal gasp made by the audience (and definitely by me) upon hearing Daphne's sad end - Dave Chappelle masterfully wove that story, making me an even bigger fan of his work.
We live in a cruel world now days and sometimes humor is a good way for us to escape the real world and enjoy a good laugh. And thats where Dave comes in. He is hands down one of the funniest comedians on the planet. He says whats on his mind and whether people say it or not, most of us agree with him.
