      Cam The Man yeah look it’s hard to defend Jeff Varner here in today’s society especially, but we have to remember at the end of the day he initially played survivor in an era where this kind of talk and truth telling being raised was not much of an issue and reasonable mentality. So at that moment he was fighting for his life and retreated back to his old roots from Australia outback era kind of pitching to stay in, as if this was back in 2000 this exact same thing brought up, I bet ya his tribe mates would have taken what he said into account and use that as a basis to vote say Zeke off due to the attitude back then. Sure it’s been well over half a decade since but Jeff just started talking the 2000 Aussie outback era attitude

    A game of Outwit, Outplay, Outlast does not mean outing someone's personal business not only in front of the tribe, but in front of millions of viewers. Varner got what he deserved.

    • @nathankumar5987
      @nathankumar5987 4 года назад +6

      Willie Turner lol you must have forgotten how survivor was back in the original days, remember how Rob outed some bloke there was no reaction to it as it was that kind of era where that would slide, and I can assure you Varner did here if replicated in his initial season, it would have worked in his favour to sway votes as that’s how survivor was back then, honesty was appreciated a lot and hiding was frowned upon. Varner did what he did purely off instinctive retreating to save his survivor life in the game and chose a route in which back in his initial season in Aussie outback would have viewed as ok.

      I don’t think he actually told Varner, it looks like Varner simply figured it out based on the confessions leading up to tribal council. Zeke had also said he wanted to keep it secret. He would have been talking to Varner or anyone else in front of cameras so I doubt he would have brought it up.

    I don’t even think Varner is this horrible monster. He just was grasping at straws and made a really STUPID decision in the heat of the moment. The man is gay himself and I’m sure he has done lots of work for and supported gay/trans rights. I know where his heart is on the subject and on Zeke. He just absolutely made a rash, very wrong decision and I bet he has beaten himself up ever since and would take it back if he could. I respect Zeke for just wanting to be Zeke the survivor and not the token trans survivor.

    • @spacecadet2172
      @spacecadet2172 4 года назад +18

      Tina King I disagree completely. It was completely premeditated, as Varner himself admitted. Furthermore, his attempts at apologizing and comments after the show aired indicated that he still wasn’t truly contrite and if anything felt like he was the one who had been shortchanged, rather than taking responsibility for his despicable and depraved actions.

    • @AJFig-ut9hp
      @AJFig-ut9hp 29 дней назад

      @@marcpower4167 actually the real point is that Jeff assumed the worst in OTHER people.
      Jeff himself probably doesnt think being trans (or gay) is a bad thing so he isnt knocking Zeke.....But what he is doing is indirectly saying that he thinks other people would get horrified and feel lied to and then they would want to get rid of Zeke for being untrustworthy.
      And actually for his own Age as a 50 year old guy he isnt completely wrong. If Varner did this in the year 2001 when he first played the people would either be split 50/50 or the majority would even be on his side.
      But in the year 2017 people had evolved their thinking enough that they were all horrified by Jeff Varner and so this completely backfired on Varner.
      Varner was like if a guy grew up in the 1960s around prejudiced people and then in the 1990s made a completely racist remark about black people to win over some fellow white people. In his own mind he may or may not be racist but he certainly thinks the white people would be and they would like his comment....only he is too out of date.
      Varner may or may not be transphobic, but he certainly thought some or most of his tribemates would be. He actually thought way less of them than of Zeke.

      They are absolutely not good friends today. At best they’re amicable but these are Zeke’s exact words:
      “But, if we’re being perfectly honest with one another, I’ve struggled with that forgiveness in the months following. I can’t foresee us sipping martinis together in Fire Island. While I can reconcile the personal slight of him outing me, I continue to be troubled by his willingness to deploy such a dangerous stereotype on a global platform.
      But forgiveness does not require friendship. Forgiveness does not require forgetting or excusing his actions. Forgiveness requires hope. Hope that he understands the injury he caused and does not inflict it upon others. Hope that whatever torments his soul will plague him no more. I have hope for Jeff Varner.
