A row of white on the diagonal opposite of the coloured diagonal direction, added before the colour might help to keep it from pulling all in one direction. And you wouldn’t see it under the colour and top white layer.
It goes slanted because you’ve got only one set of diagonal yarn, adding some white on the other diagonal hidden under the coloured layer should help pull it in all directions evenly ❤
The Harlequin pattern was in a group, i made it as i wanted people to know that the pattern would go slanted, yes to stop it from going slanted you could put white diagonal on , then add the colours on the opposite diagonals but it would change the look of the blanket as you would not have the colours on the base of the blanket just a white base, or you could put the white diagonal on in between the colours but thats a lot of work
