    Hey bro, how long can this grinder go for without overheating? Im a hobbyist bladesmith and i need me one that can grind hardened steel for at least 5 mins consecutively with minimum heat, do you think this one can do it? I have a lot of cheapie ones but they get super hot after like a minute of grinding.

      Hi, when I used it to cut 2 rails of 16mm I din't have any problems with heat or other things. Like a suggestion, if you need a lot of continuous working time, you should choose a tool with as much wattage as possible. At the same used power (say to cut the same piece at the same speed), the motor with greater power will run cooler because it will not be used at its max capacity. This grinder has an 1400W motor (with electronic control for constant speed under load), so you can compare with other grinders.

    That's my very first angle frinder and I haven't yet used it.. Does mounting the furnished disk on the other side have an adverse effect ? I have some difficulties when disks have a clockwise (or the countrary) rotation and I thought that the side labelled had to be turned toward the user.

      Hi Janus, congratulations, this is a good angle grinder and the variable speed makes it more versatile. About installing disks, you can search on youtube different guides, for example:

    I own a Hercules 7amp 4 1/2" angle grinder and I luv it. But the variable speed aspect of the Makita shown here in this video is very useful too me it adds alot of versatility. For my projects... Thanks for posting. How much do these models run? And where do we get best deals for them?

      Thank you for your reply. Makita has a vast network of retailers so you can find these products quite easily. You can check on price comparison websites, on local hardware stores and on Makita website (buy local / buy online sections).

    I was waiting for the disk to catch in the cut as it started to turn the non fixed vice, jam and create bedlam on screen but maybe next time. Other than that, good unboxing demo.

      Thank you. Yes, you are right, it was a dangerous situation. I was hoping that the combined weight of the vise and rail would be enough to fix them, but obviously I was wrong. I saw they started to move and I continuously adjusted my position to keep the disk perpendicular to the cut. Anyway, the cut was not very good and the disk got chipped, so I needed to throw it.

    Just one question. When would I need to use an angle grinder with the variable speed option?

    • @razvanaciu2710
      @razvanaciu2710  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Wester, the variable speed is very good for works like sanding on softer materials like wood or plastics. If you try to do this at full speed, you will burn or melt them. A more detailed explanation is here: ruclips.net/video/kMfuVlVeCos/видео.html
      Besides that, there are a lot of attachments for angle grinders. If you search youtube, you will find a lot of them, including grinding :), polishing, sanding, cutting, drilling, etc. In fact you can use the angle grinder like an oversized Dremel and for many of these attachments the variable speed is quite handy, especially on precision jobs.

      Thank you for your answer and for your help. I think I'll go with your recommendation and get the one with variable speed option

      @@hpldm1937 Hi, and thanks for commenting. Myself, I am not a fan for a particular brand, country, etc. I always make comparisons and choose which product I think is the best for me. For example, I have this Makita angle grinder and a Bosch circular saw (you can check my clip about it: ruclips.net/video/lHiJ4wpPrHc/видео.html ). There are very good head to head comparisons, such as this one: ruclips.net/video/ldH0Q0JwLXk/видео.html . They have in the clip a special section dedicated to safety and ergonomics features. In their channel there are a lot of interesting tests.

    Safety flip flops, check! Unattached vise, check! Powering down the angle grinder while the disc is still inside the work piece, check! Laying the grinder on the ground and releasing of it before the disc has stopped spinning, check!

      Salut, eu nu l-am utilizat incontinuu decat pe perioade scurte, de ordinul minutelor. Oricum, nu-mi amintesc cand am cautat ce sa-mi cumpar, sa fi vazut vreun comentariu ca Makita are probleme cu incalzirea.

      If you want to buy one, probably the best method is to find an authorized dealer. You can find a list on Makita website, for each country. They also provide service for the tool.
