It is now theorised that a sudden Katabatic wind killed the nine members of the Dyatlov Pass incident.. Googled it, and this video shows very well the sudden force of those winds.. in severe sub zero temperatures, in ice and snow, these would be terrifying.
I have just seen a video about that too, the dyatlov incident in Russia, the exact same thing happened in Sweden, a man lived to tell about it. Just wow.
Katabatic winds are common in fjords, especially below mountain passes if the wind blows across the fjord. They wind roses appear to come out of nowhere and are totally unpredictable. We call them falling winds ("fallvind") in Norwegian.
So this is what killed those poor hikers. Its amazing at how often you DONT need Bigfoot or UFO's to explain something mysterious. Lookin at you, David Paulides.
@Taylor Newell That wasn't "a little wind" Katabatic winds can reach winds comparable to hurricanes. Combined with sub-zero temperatures, those conditions are deadly . dyatlovpass.com/swedish-russian-expedition-2019
are you sure those are not more related to microburst downdrafts from clouds? they dont match the features of true katabatic winds of dense fridgid air flowing down from icefields that can reach enourmous speeds almost 200. it could be that strong downbursts everything is now being called katabatic winds which are usually straight line winds--not these almost circular downbursts in the video. also you say coming from all directions possibly they are katabatic and spreading out almost spent over the water and thus more turbulent?
Great job. Thanks. I never realized these winds were accompanied by dramatic chamber music! Would have loved to see it in high resolution.
or heard it :)

Just came here because of that incident.
WRONG! Research more.
@@jamesbee8265 Where's your evidence?

The music raised my pulse.. videos good otherwise.
I just read about a guy that had a 90 degree knockdown from a katabatic wind in Croatia. Thanks for posting.

I'd like to hear it, if it makes sound.

I watched another video and i guess the winds also are affected by weather and can do various things and not always associated with ice.
There are tall mountains here, upto 100 meters. Couple that with dry cold alpine air and warm sea temps and you'll get some powerful wind droping.
The music's more dramatic than the video! That's a common fault of youtube videos. It's otherwise good.
Awesome view 👍👍
It's why so many helicopters crash on lake Wanaka.
Hey wheres that awesome music from?
What's with the music? Totally unnecessary and annoying.
Super informative view on the phenomenon of gusts, though.
The mysteries of the universe unrelieved...
KETABATIC
Check again. It's Katabatic.
pretty sik
So this is what killed the people at the Dyatlov Pass
