Man. Ten years ago I wanted to learn this song and I found your tutorial part one... I could only learn that part because I didn't know there was a part 2 due to the fact that I didn't know to speak English and I didn't realize that in the description there was a link to part 2...now I decided to play it full and I remembered your tutorial, so I looked for it.. Now I'm going to play it full for sure. I wanted to thank you because you helped me a lot. This was the first song I had ever tried to learn without sheets, and I did it (at least part 1) thanks to you! Thank you my friend, I hope you are OK

For those who think he plays it too quickly, there is a play speed function in the settings so you can slow it down to your preferred tempo. This is a great rendition of such a beautiful piece!

This tutorial is perffect for people like me that can play piano but do not read music! Very usefull, easy to understand. I have never taken lessons before and I came across your tutorial at a time where I was feeling so much angst and frustration over someone i lost and I just needed a place to put it all, something to channel it all into, an emotional release. It took some time but I learned to play the whole song. It's still a battle, but it helped. Thank you Kyle.

I had no idea this song would be so difficult!! Ive been playing stringed instruments for almost a decade and decided to try something different, to expand myself. Lol im self taught and dont have my own keyboard but your videos are extremely helpful! As soon as I can learn the chorus and the bridge I'll be posting a video so you can see the fruits of your labor :)

just got a keyboard for christmas yesterday and I decided to learn this song to start with. its a little bit challenging, but the tutorial really helped! (I don't have any sheet music for it)

I taught myself to play this song because it always made me think of my mum... I lost her to cancer when I was 23.. She was only 47.. Makes it worse that I grew up with domestic violence and, for me, it's like she's saying every word of the song but saying it about my dad and the chorus is her talking about how she always protected us from him even though she was suffering herself.

@Skulethan That's what I thought when I started learning it. I'll admit, it took me a while, but I learned how to play perfectly. I know a lot of people say it, but practice really makes perfect.

@gijobelow its not just about beeing selfish, its tireful to teach some kind of piano music like this that needs some skills, hes passing the quickness that he plays to a slow version and thats also hard when ur already used to the normal song(its like forgeting the notes :S) realy execelent work teacher. u rock

This is definitely going to take a long time to learn but at least I understand more than sheet music...which I can't understand. I learned the very first part a few months ago but never went anywhere from there but now I'm playing constantly again so I'm wanting to try again. ^-^

I'd recommend doing both. if you struggle with a part of a song, you should definitely focus on it till it sounds right, and then you can play the whole piece together.

I think he means the bridge, which you say in the video is difficult to teach. I guess you could have made another 10 minute video and split it up into 3 parts... but this is still the most useful tutorial I've seen on RUclips of any song.

Great tutorial man! some parts were a little harder than others but only playing piano for about a week and able to play this song through feels pretty good. Props to you man!! You should make one for Hello by Evanescence.! Thumbs up!!

Thank you Kyle! I've always wanted to learn how to play this song and you've helped a lot. I think it would be very helpful to play it MUCH slower with two hands (maybe half speed or 50 BPM or so) so that the timing between the left and right was clearer, especially during the chorus and bridge. But I don't want to sound unappreciative, I love your tutorials! (BTW I used your tutorial to learn Faithfully as well. It was dead on!)
This is a wonderful video. My friend Is teaching me the song though, she learnt by ear and has an easier version. I came looking for the bridge but it's complicated the way you do it lol so I'll wait for her. I find it is much easier to learn by seeing it in real life, and to try it and have her correct me on what I'm doing wrong. But I played along with you for the first video lol
