Deepwater Rockfish, a JUMBO Cow Cod and some bonus Sand Bass action!

Join me and Brad as we test out the new Real World Angling rockfish rigs. We fished 250-550ft and hammered the Boscos, Sunsets, and Grouper. Brad catches his PB Salmon Grouper and his first ever Cow Cod which was safely descended. Once fully limited out on rockfish we took our live squid and headed to some reefs on the Horseshoe and caught some grumpy Sand Bass!

Tanacom Bull 500 on a Proteus 7’6” Heavy loaded with 50lb J-braid. They not longer make the Tanacom Bill but the new Tanacom 500 or Seaborg 500 is a great choice. I use that for about 750ft and less, anything deeper and I fish a tanacom 1000

Typically we don’t fish lings in this area but they are around. I prefer 120-180ft myself

@realworldangling copy, so that second spot on the Horseshoe would be a better bet for Lings? I like your rockcod rigs. When will they be available?

Thanks! I would use my Navionics and looks for spots on the horseshoe in between those depths. We definitely don’t get a ton of them but there are some spots that produce well. I have rockfish rigs up now on the site and will have DEEP drop rigs available shortly as well!
