Well, since your troops had just captured the Runestone, they probably thought it was better to destroy it than let it fall into the Horde's hands.

I was wondering why I couldn't see those Gnomish Submarines! I had no goddamn zepplin!!!! Argh!!
To detect submarine units u need : submarines too, flying units or towers
I never know that I can use ogrs instead of orcs and trolls

@ 7:37 - Do you realize your Watch Towers are NOT shooting out any arrows or cannonballs when there are enemy objects nearby?? Why didn't you upgrade??
If he had wasted money building them in the first place you would have a point, but he clearly chose not to waste money upgrading them and used the resources elsewhere. He didn't need the towers, there is literally only one time they would have been helpful, and even then the units ran out what their range would have been at one point.
He did build a few of them in the previous misson and didn't upgrade them. He also lost a catapult in the first attack, which would have been prevented if he upgraded just 1 tower.
What good are unarmed watch towers?
