I don’t think this choice is better than JDM but I think that Ben Afleck would have fit this role. His body type is more similar to Negans in the comic.
Keep in mind that this is a TV show, of course the events are exaggeration. But the character of “Negan” is actually showing the audience that the villain is the hero of the other side. Just because we knew Rick’s crew and saw most of the show from their perspective, doesn’t mean that there are other people who’ ve been through the exact same problems. Negan mentions this when he talked about the “Satellite Station” with Maggie. His character, on a deeper level, stands for that there is good and bad in everyone. Carl was right to tell Rick to just spare Negan. Rick knew that during season 9 Negan would someday be redeemed and yea he did. Negan threw away Lucille, he helped save and care for Judith, he helped Daryl and Carol. He worked together with Gabriel and Maggie. Can't wait for him to fight side by side with Rick, Ezekiel and all the others during the final battle.
