WOW! I’ve been standing at the site and using AR, I’ve been scrolling through the date & Time to get the moon where I wanted. What a life saver. Please make this a Pill (or part of the Find more directly) so it’s not a secret anymore. Thanks as always.
This is really top. Thanks for sharing, very useful indeed. Often I’m somewhere and thinking this would be a nice place for a moonrise…so saved the place and tried to figure it out afterwords. But this makes it so easy. Thank you +++++
Hi Rafael, Greetings from Australia, have wanted such a feature and didn't know it existed until now! I love the Photopills app and your tutorials. Thanks 😀
This is a really great app that I have been using for a few years now. It would be super amazing if we could have a desktop version that we could use in the same way as our mobile devices to sync our plans and anything else we do on our phones to our phones or tablets. I am sure there are a lot of people that feel this way. Perhaps a discounted price for existing mobile owners and a full price for first-time buyers?
Thanks for the easy explanation. I have a question: I live in Kyoto-Japan, and there is no flat land around me. There are hills surrounding me. How to go about it? Any ideas? Thank you, Hugo
Hi Hugo! I use the Black Pin (tap the button on Panel 2 above the map to have it on the map). Panel 2 allows you to understand the terrain relative to the Red Pin.
Rafael, this technique is very much similar to your cool video from last year with the three targets you described in that video including the church bell tower from the yard with orange trees. Either way, this is a GREAT tool and technique.
very nice app. only the video's are spoken in such a fast way and not clear manner that i have to replay it many times. Maybe you can use someone who speaks not so fast and very clear. Sorry for this comment, but thats the way it is.
Hi Sawn! The Altitude of the Red Pin and Black Pean are above sea level. But on Panel 2 above the map you have the Height of Moon from Black Pin. That height is the distance between the ground level of the Black Pin and the center of the Moon.
Sadly it's often wrong about the position in Scandinavia. You plan everything, go out, triple check the path of the moonrise. Then when the moons position is off.
Hey! You can't zoom in on the AR. What I've done is to use one of the focal lengths available on my phone. If your phone has more than one focal length they should appear in the button under the AR view.
I have entered in the location of shooting and subject. After selecting date range and azimuth/elevation for future available dates it tells me it will be aligned on 9/28/23 at golden hour with a full moon. However, full moon isn’t until 9/29/23. Am I doing something incorrectly?
The Photopills app doesn't work on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A SM-T580NZKAXAR 10.1-Inch 16 GB, Tablet. It comments about no GPS, is there a GPS app that I need to download? Thank you
I have not found my AR to be that accurate. Normally the sun is about 1cm left of right on my phone. I need an area I can run back and forth quite a bit to line up the shot
This looks great but doesn’t work for me. I have the red and black buttons set and I click on the find button. The options are only sun and moon. The option of moon or sun at azimuth and elevation is not shown. It would make things so much easier to not have to input the elevation in the next screen. Maybe I don’t have the current version of the app. I see the current version is 1.7 but I can’t find how to see the version I have installed. Or maybe cuz I'm an android?
Hi! On Android we Sun and Moon are the Same as Sun at Az and Elev and Moon at Az and Elev. The other two options we have on iOs are not really useful so we didn't implement them. So tap on Moon and then tap on the AR button at the bottom.
@@PhotoPills I don't quite understand this. I've always used this process, but it doesn't work the same for me. When I tap on Moon (or Sun), I get the correct azimuth of the target but the elevation is not correct. The elevation and error shown are of whatever previous target I had input. I always have to input each elevation manually based on the elevation in the second planner screen (distance, azimuth, altitude diff screen). It would be a great improvement if PhotoPills would load the elevation of the new target.
Rafael. I really love your tips, but for a non native english speaker you are VERY hard to understand. Could you please speak more slowly and more clearly. Thank you a lot.
A VERY cool and useful tool....and the end of the video showing how to use very informative. But just a little creative criticism, please...this video could have easily been at least 2:40 shorter. I almost lost interest watching the long long LOOONG preamble that kept showing you walking and say "I'm going to show you a secret...." etc... Just a little more editing would have made this a great video. Again, just trying to give helpful criticism.... Looking forward to your next video!! CC
I do struggle with strong accents when people are speaking English (I appreciate your command of the language) but you went WAY too fast for me. Not just your words, but how quickly you were tapping on commands and buttons. I'm lost.
The app might be good but really I don't know what r u talking about because of ur Spanish accent. Solve this problem either have someone with English accent or with ai

I'm always amazed at how complete the PhotoPills program is, thanks as always for pointing out this very useful feature.
Had this app 2 years, never knew I could tap on the moon
It's a secret tool ;)

Such an incredible app! Slowly learning how to use it more and more for strategic planning. Thank you!
Thank you!!
though I love this app, I would prefer to use it on a big screen also. Is this possible? Probable? I would gladly pay
Working on it ;)
Brilliant, thanks for show this moon trick.
Thank you!
Thanks Rafa. I have had this app for some years and this is the first time I have seen this awesome feature used like this to plan the shots. Bravo
Thank you!
I did not know this! Awesome :)
Yeah my friend! Very useful when you're scouting in the field... See you in Menorca next week!!
Rafa this is amazing. I have been using Photopills for ages and never knew this existed. Thank you so much.
Yeah! It's pretty hidden ;)

I have asked on the live lectures. To plan on my 27” screen would be great.
Absolutely brilliant function! 🔥
Yeah!
This is fantastic. More tutorials like this. Very informative
Thank you!

Thank you!

This was freaking cool!!! so helpful.. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Are sub titles available on your videos, unfortunately I find it very hard to understand what you are saying.
Hi Martin! It seems youtube has not made them available yet...

It is the video titled "1 Day Planning Photos with the Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba".
Yes! It's the same tool. But I thought to create a specific video for it :)
Excellent. Thank you.
Thank you James!
Awesome! Thank you.
Thank you!
Wow! Thank you 🙏
Thank you Wild!
Very helpful, thank you!
Thank you John!

Hi Peter! Have you tried to slow down the video on youtube :)
Genius.
:D
Fantastic!
Thank you Jayme!
Great as always 👍👍👍
Thank you Jakob!
Are the altitudes ground level above sea level?
Hi Sawn! The Altitude of the Red Pin and Black Pean are above sea level. But on Panel 2 above the map you have the Height of Moon from Black Pin. That height is the distance between the ground level of the Black Pin and the center of the Moon.
Great Tool 👍🏻
Thank you!
This is quite interesting, but will admit I will have to try this out a few times to completely understand it! :-D
Yes! It needs practice for sure... Calibrating the AR view is key!
Perfect, thank you¡!
Thank you Jim!
How did you place the black pin?
3:03 into the clip.
You can Place it or not! I recommend you do :)
Brilliant.
:D
“Let me show you how to use PhotoPills…” starts at 2:20
Good point!
Sadly it's often wrong about the position in Scandinavia. You plan everything, go out, triple check the path of the moonrise. Then when the moons position is off.
That's interesting... Because it shouldn't be like that. Are you planning with the Map or with the AR?
My AR mode doesn't allow zooming in - is that feature not available on android?
Hey! You can't zoom in on the AR. What I've done is to use one of the focal lengths available on my phone. If your phone has more than one focal length they should appear in the button under the AR view.

Nope! you don't need to have a 100% full moon to get a cool shot. Natural light is more important that moonphase ;)

Hi Shawn! The map is more accurate if you want real precision. I always calibrate the AR view too.
This looks great but doesn’t work for me. I have the red and black buttons set and I click on the find button. The options are only sun and moon. This may be a personal thing but I find the “music” in the background invasive. Annoying at best.
Thanks for the feedback John!
It seems like a great app, but I was hardly able to understand, what the guy said.Sorry I hato say said
Thanks for the Feedback! Please, check our Moon photography guide, it'll help you a lot: www.photopills.com/articles/moon-photography-guide
You probably need to have signal to use this functionality. I wish it could be used when you are offline also
you can use it offline ;)

Hi Jürg! Have you tried to slow down the video on youtube?
@@PhotoPills Yes I did, but this doesn't make your pronunciation better. Sorry

Yes... I was improvising... I could have removed that part. Thanks for the feedback!
Hello friend! Congratulations for your tutorials but.... please speak little slower to understand you and don't go back the video to listen you again!

@@PhotoPills Why don't you take a suggestion on you side? Very difficult to understand so lose interest and stop the tutorial.

I'll try! But you can always slow down the video hehehe
@@PhotoPills That does slow it down but sounds like I'm listening to a guy who just finished a long night at the pub drinking!
