    Whoever is doing this just did it in Moore County, NC today. This is near Fort Bragg, NC, the largest army base in the U.S. HSI or the FBI should be investigating this immediately before they knock out the power to the Army Special Operations Command. 30k people do not have power in the area.

      Satelites in sky already know who did it. Traffic intersection cameras knows who was there? Tracking devices on phones and cars know who was right there at the exact time shooting hsppened. Why keeping it a secret unless it was a government inside job?

      You can't get money to pay for the gas that never got ordered or put in the ground for you not to be able to pump it when the power is out... And the WiFi being shutdown would destroy us within a week... Would be complete choas and anarchy

    Nine years ago and the power companies still haven't done anything to fix the problem? Sounds normal. You should also look at pipelines, chemical plants etc.

    The question to what that man said at the very end of the report when he said that the WH needs to convene a meeting of experts to identify the biggest threats to our grid should not be "is it being done?" but rather "why isn't it being done?"

    Came here to rewatch this after seeing the targeted attack on the North Carolina grid. This could happen to any electrical grid in the US and we need to be concerned about just how protected are our grids from any type of terrorist activity.

      So why can't we have Tesla's free-energy machines? I suspect that they have had working prototypes for a half-century at least. We should have had whole-house free-energy machines by now. Why do we have such yester-century technology in our cars and our electricity grid? Why must everything be so centrally controlled or manipulated? Communism and poverty-promoting much? Satanism much?
      And you can tell that there is little interest in solving problems, because they won't talk about developing thorium nuclear power either.

We're talking grids not localities. Since then government entities have talked about how vulnerable our power grid is and how they believe the amount of enemies invading from across our borders will see our power grid as the easiest and most devastating target. Did you know transformers from small pole transformers to the major transformers have a replacement lead time up to 5 years? We don't make them in the US. I have made plans and preparations to live totally without electricity. If our ancestors could do it, so can we.

    This is unacceptable. As the Federal Government, you can be very persuasive with these companies to harden their security measures. Especially when it comes to National Security. Either deal with it now or be forced to deal it with later. It’s common sense.

      And yet the educated-stupid elitists want to ruin our computers and smart-phones by making them more dependent upon Big Cloud. What could possibly go wrong with that grandiose stupid scheme? Somehow, I expect that a computer or smart-phone should be able to do at least some things, even with no cellphone signal and no internet. Even GPS navigation is possible without Big Cloud, via having previously stored locally onto the device itself, its needed maps. GPS satellite signals can still be received, even in areas in which there is no cell-tower signal.

    Moving backup facilities underground is the best idea I can think of .. It is getting past all that "old money" and many owners that share ownership still relying on wood poles

      It’s not that easy to go underground with electricity on a large scale. You can’t go underground with a whole substation. Plus underground insulated cables aren’t that efficient versus bare overhead wire. Nor can they handle as much load.

      I didn't say wood poles were and above ground was ineffective however backup substations built underground and even walled completely nearby vulnerable above ground sub stations is logical

    honestly I am all about the 1st amendment but don't you think some stories are too sensitive to let those that would use this story on an attack on our grid & how easy it would be should be maybe held as a national security secret??!!       Thought the same as you! Watching it made me think, geezz what if this gets seen by someone with malicious intentions?!     Four million Texans were without power for days last year, hundreds died. The challenge is real. I slept on the floor in front of the fireplace heated by firewood I gathered in the park down the street.

    Fix it when it breaks is usually the method. Some of these transformers are the size of a house and require a year of construction and moving. 1 year of us sinking into the stone age

      Why do you assume that they would ever fix it? You haven't heard of the evil depopulation agenda of the Satanic deep state? Why do they need to fix it, when they have electricity in their bunkers and underground cities?
      Yeah, lots of us work for those "fix it when it breaks and only if necessary" cheapskate outdated corporations, due largely to the greedy bigwigs who misallocate the money mostly for those at the top, or just do not have the money due to the corrupt fiat monetary and taxation system.
      You better not break it, or else patch it together with duct-tape and chewing gum, otherwise it might not ever get fixed. Fixing stuff is costly. Who says that ancient crap can't somehow still be coaxed to keep working?

      So China increases their coal use for 6+ years and doesn't have to pay a dime, but WE MUST GO GREEN? Lol...perhaps you should look into the economics and what kind of an impact your so called GREEN infrastructure would make :)

    One very serious problem: The train tunnels under the Hudson River, which are over 110 years old.. These are structurally deficient times two. A new tunnel needs to be constructed for trains to use until those older tubes can be renovated. Like the other deficiencies covered by this 60 Minutes video, money has yet to be found.

    When the east coast went down here in the 90s they had to bring in German engineers to try but a couple old timers that helped at the Westinghouse switching station had to help flip the switches at the right order or it would burn down when my father helped in the 70s they knew then it wouldn't last 20 yrs here we are 40 yrs after still with the same grid my father kept all his prints that were lost in a fire folks you better get west of Ohio for your best chance

      Ikr. Just like every company and corporation...Comcast, Pharmaceutical companies, Comed, Cell Phone, Cable, Hospitals, clothing companies etc...they all nickel and dime us, mark up the product 10000 times what it costs them...just bc they can.
      Meanwhile they are transferring the labor to China and sweat shops overseas to get it for cheap and then charge as much as they can possibly get away with.

      Remember when cell phone companies gave us a free phone with a 2 year contract. Then they all realized they can all make a lot more money by charging customers full retail price for phones. So they all started doing that in UNISON!!
      That is not Capitalism. That is Collusion!!! Why are gas prices aboutthe same price no matter which gas station/company you go to, give or take 10 cents?
      If it was really Capitalism, you would have companies constantly trying to offer a better deal to get as many customers as possible but all the top companies in every industry realized they all make more money by agreeing to keep all their prices as high as possible.

    This is what I fear about the electrical grid here in Texas. I almost froze in February 2021 and I am afraid the governor has not done anything to keep this from happening again.

      @@pablitoperez9109 Hi In San Antonio it got down to between 9 and 11 degrees. Thank god I remembered to shut off the water to my place to prevent any water damage. I also drained the system. And I still think Greg Abbott has not done anything.

    This is in part to a large reason why we need to move to localized energy generation with solar roofs/wind generation and storage built into homes like a Tesla Power wall. This needs to happen to ensure energy is kept both at homes and large business need the same outfit of these systems as well as commercial scaled applications to ensure generation.

      Sustainable energy isn’t buying of Congress and USA presidents, it’s the oil companies who are doing that. Until sustainable energy caucuses buy politicians in Washington DC and locally, sustainable energy ain’t happening.

    It's great that they are sharing all information with companies but we the public needs to find out how to save guard ourselves. Be pro active in order for the public to combat any attacks. We should have solar panels in our homes, propane for heating and cooking just in case the russian,white supremacists or any enemy attacks our grids. Let us know so no lives are at risk.

The communist Satanic Left, loves "green" wind and solar power, because it can not produce 24-7, it isn't cost effective, and so it never will be a proper solution and most people can not afford it, and so the problem never gets solved by legitimate technologies such as thorium nuclear power, or better yet, Nicolai Tesla's free-energy technology that has no emissions.

    What is currently being done to protect the grid , now that reports about it have made it even more vulnerable? That should certainly be the most priority-driven question! Why can’t it be built underground …or use the newest technologies to keep damaging attacks from occurring??!

      I can answer part of your question for you. Both cost and feasibility are why most large substations are not built underground. Those high voltage transformers generate a ton of heat, so encapsulating them either above or below ground is not feasible. The cost to cool the spaces would be astronomical. As for the rest, I agree more can and should be done from a regulatory perspective.

    Nine substations, critical to the grid, would cause a nationwide blackout. Imagine a bad actor with small EMPs carried by drones over these substations. The question is, how easy would it be for a bad actor to figure out which nine substations to hit?

    Tony Seba says we’ll have a more decentralized energy grid made of solar wind and battery in 10 years just due to the better economics of renewables. Seems like we need to quicken the pace of decentralizing our energy needs for security reasons.

    Blowing up substations was a technique used by the French resistance movement during world war two, There are a few clips on YT of resistance members blowing substations. Since than substations have become bigger and more critical to the continuity of life, society and governance. "SOE's School for Danger" is the title of a yt vid with reference to substations at 7min 30seconds

      Community scaled solar and wind would. The story you don’t see? That one neighborhood in the Moore county attack has a contract with a close Amazon solar farm, they still have power because they use private grid tie ins. While it’s not nearly as much power, they aren’t without lights.

      Distributed solar and wind would actually make the grid more resilient. That along with distributed battery backup would mean the grid can stay powered even when portions get attacked. Not to mention the energy independence we would get if we could learn to rely on the sun and wind and not the Middle East and Russia

    Nowhere was incompetence and greed mentioned. I live in TexAss and it was those two main reasons our gird was down ... Statewide ... for over a week. And the needed upgrades and repairs haven't been done for over a year later.
