Oregon and Ohio State Headed for College Football Playoff Rematch!

- The Big Ten Champion Oregon Ducks and the Ohio State Buckeyes are headed for a likely rematch in the college football playoffs. While the Ducks enjoy an additional bye week, the Ohio State Buckeyes must get past the Tennessee Vols in the first round. Ohio State is still rebounding from their regular season ending loss to Michigan but they will have home field advantage vs the Vols.
We look at whether an Ohio State vs Oregon rematch will have a different outcome from the Ducks one point win at home in October. Speaking of Oregon football, quarterback Dillon Gabriel is heading to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist.
We have some good news for Penn State football and their offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.
Plus we have the latest transfer portal news. Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa are all losing quarterbacks. We will have details here.

Ohio State needs to focus on getting past Tennessee. I haven’t watched The Vols the way I’ve watched Big 10 teams, but I’ve heard from the experts that Tennessee might be favored.

Oregon could end up facing Tennessee, Georgia and Texas in the playoffs as well.
They ran the trifecta in the Big 10, wouldn’t it be amazing if they ran the trifecta then in the top SEC teams for the year. That would be quite a “statement season.” it’ll sure take an awful lot to get there though.
I think if it’s a rematch with Ohio State, Oregon leaves no doubt. Jordan Birch didn’t play in the first game. He’s relentless on defense.

Oregon goes undefeated beating 4 ranked teams including 3 that are in the playoffs and gets ‘rewarded’ by having to play either Ohio State or Tennessee both of which are serious title contenders. Meanwhile Penn State gets rewarded by playing SMU which they will beat and then Boise which they will also beat. If other teams (excluding Ohio State and Tennessee) had the option to switch bracket spots with Oregon does anyone actually think anyone would switch spots with Oregon? 🤣
Very unfair system that punishes winners and rewards losers. Even if Oregon wins they are forced to play much bigger and more physical teams that increases the chances of injury. If Oregon wins the first round they would be forced to play Texas which is a top 4 or 5 team and very physical because let’s face it Clemson and ASU are not beating Texas.
Oregon will roll Texas if they meet in the Playoffs. Ohio State is the team I'm concerned about...not Texas or Georgia. Go Ducks!

Regarding the Heisman, when Oregon wins out and becomes a national champion, I do believe Dylan Gabriel should be selected as the Heisman winner
the heisman selection is before that. But Dillon has had a stellar year so far.

Michigan AD Warde suppressed OSU's tiebreaker over Penn State. Both have 2 losses but Warde put OSU at #8 vs #6 Penn State. Everyone knows that OSU vs Georgia rematch will do bigger numbers than PSU vs UGA. Warde is a cowardly lion.

Penn State lost 1. And then went to the conference championship.
Warde said explicitly that they would not punish conference championship losers.

When Oregon wins the natty it will be the greatest season ever.
Typically it's desired to have the best 2 teams face off in the Championship game, not the 2nd round. But it happens all the time in pro sports.

Definitely messed up this year in the first ever playoff bracket. Next year the number 1 team needs the easiest road to the championship game. If that means re-seeding after conference championship games then do that!!! Also I think the higher Ranked teams should host the playoff games at their home stadium all the way up until the national championship game. There would be even more incentive to finish in the number one spot. What do you guys think about that idea???
There is re-seeding after the championship games, which is what the committee did Sunday.
What needs to change is that conference champions shouldn’t automatically get the top 4 spots as they do now. The current system has the effect of giving stronger teams like Ohio State or Tennessee lower rankings than weaker teams like SMU or Boise State.
Needs an overhaul.
Give conference champs auto bids into the playoffs but not bye seeds. Once the 12 are selected, place the top four ranked teams as bye seeds and group the others accordingly to their ranking. Oregon should be playing the winner of ASU-SMU, and so forth.

If tennessee beats Ohio state and oregon beats them that a minimum of 4 playoff teams oregon beat.... they could theoretically go 6-0 vs playoff teams this year
We also all know the refs gave osu a 7 point head start.. that WAS an int.. that was fate stepping in and not letting osu have that opportunity in the final seconds.. cuz they shoulda been down 8 points. At minimun

And honestly, It feels like Ohio State doesn't deserve a rematch after what they did against Michigan! Really? I think I liked college football better when there weren't all these do-overs..... were teams didn't whine about bad losses and losing three games and missing the playoffs.... when games actually mattered!
If there is a rematch... And I have some doubts about that. Oregon was just getting it together the first time they played Ohio State and they've improved and are a better team now. It doesn't feel like Ohio State has gotten better! I'm not offensive line.... Just saying. It's going to be a hell of a test against Tennessee cuz they have a really good defensive front... We'll see if they even make it to the Rose bowl.

An Oregon -v- Ohio State Rose Bowl would be the de facto National Championship game.
