I was introduced to Steven Wilson a couple of years ago. Love the band, and love Nick Beggs playing. They guy is so talented, and seems to be a really great guy overall.
I could be wrong (not knowing Mr. B.) but I don't think he was being that calculated. I think he was perfectly ready to pay for the flanger pedal (I think since he thought it wasn't being made anymore he was just really pleased to hear the news and either was in need...I'm sure it 's gotten a bit of use over the years, or at least wanted a backup ASAP since he likes and uses it a lot and would want it by any means neccessary). And for the gear guy to offer a freebee, it's a basic marketing move on his part and they'll get to use that info in promo material...quid pro quo. Just sayin'... ❤☮🌎
@@ArtbyJoeH So ? Many many many bassplayers play guitar or piano aswell. That does not make those instruments basses either. The chapman stick has got NOTHING to do with bass, it's an instrument on its own. Probably closer to the harp then to any bass.
@@Roomer645"so?" ... did I offend?, please try to read my comment in the context that it was intended- that being , it is best known for being used by bass players . Or maybe that is because I'm a bass player myself . 🤔
+Coss Georgiou He's a very tall dane. Wouldn't want that one running towards you with an axe. ;) I figure he's at least 6.3ish.. which is weird because Nick seemed about that tall when I visited a concert. Something about my size perception must be wrong. Anyway.. why are we talking about height! I'd really like to try and play a chapman stick.. dunno where to get it though. That TC bass amp sounds great as well, going to give it a try.
+The Larch It's Nick who's 6'3''. We're down to a chair, then :) As to heights, he seems one musician always striving to reach new. Always something interesting to hear, which is great.
Another outstanding musician. I've always thought of Nick Beggs as one of the greats.
He's on another level ...
Nick Beggs is one badass bassist. .
One of the most underrated bassists ever without question

Amazing musician, great bass player
too bad newer generation doesn’t know how big and influencing nick was back in the 80ies… he’s still awesome…
Nick really took the perfect opportunity to blag a free pedal there! Nice one. Great playing too.

Very nice interview. Well done, with nice guys
I just love Nick!!! xo xo
Hey Tore, please do some Nick Beggs reverb toneprint for Stick players! ;)
Yes. I'd love to know the name of that music he was playing also. It's at 2:08. I shazamed it and nothing came up with that idea.
opensecondary It's an extract from “Lula” which is on Nick’s solo album “Stick Insect” from 2001.
The Stick is not a Bass Guitar, its a totally different instrument.
but generally played by bass players such as Nick and Tony Levin !
@@ArtbyJoeH Yes that is true.

Exactly, but most don't seem to get that.
It's a string instrument, that's where the similarity stops.

Is this guy most the down to earth or is it just my imagination?
but does is djent?
The TC Guy is so much taller than Nick....and Nick is a tall guy himself.
If the gear fellow isn't standing on another level or on something, it must be novel for Nick (at 6'3") to be looking up to...anyone. ❤☮🌎
Is the interviewer standing on a chair, or is he just incredibly tall???

If I was nick I would of told him to go away
