Okay Michelle let's do this! This is in no way supposed to sound mean or condescending but since I'm a couple years older I feel the need to sit you down and have some real talk with you about all this STRESS you're experiencing. This is coming from a loving place though and I hope you understand that! In this video you said that our bodies are also made for rest and I would just like to point out that that's not true. Our bodies NEED rest to function! You know what it felt like when you couldn't properly sleep anymore so you have to make rest a priority in your life!
    1. Actually make youtube your side hustle! Right now it feels like you are working two full time jobs and that's not helpful! If you need to go down to one video a week do that put some more ads in them if you are worried about money take on more sponsorships if you can! Your viewers care about you and will understand!
    2. Multitask better! Seeing that clip of you with two laptops open and while also being on your phone stressed me out! Also your videos have gotten to the point where you just tell us of all the work you have to do in one clip after another! I'm not saying this to criticise you I still love watching your videos! But I don't understand why you don't just show us what you have to do! Need to clean the apartment? Put a camera in the corner of the room and film it add a voiceover of your cleaning routine or how you manage cleaning with your roommate! Slap a catchy 'NYC apartment' or 'clean with me' title on it to get those views and voila you killed two birds with one stone more or less.
    3. I know you like healthy food but still: You are a healthy person that lives a healthy lifestyle! A less healthy meal once or twice a week won't change that! It won't take years of your lifespan and it won't make you gain 50 pounds there is no need to add 'having to work out' or 'having to eat super healthy all the time' to your already busy schedule!
There are only so many hourse in the day. At some point your work capacity in a week will be reached and then the only way for you to get more rest is by working less and there is nothing wrong with that! You are too young to burn yourself out like this! I know that there is this whole 'productivity' trend going on online but most of that is complete bullshit! Especially it if turns great content creators into people who are just constantly telling us that they are off to work, the gym or about to eat a salad!
You have been dealing with stress for a long time now and at some point this will have to stop because too much stress over a long period of time is anything but healthy!
Please take care of yourself and know that none of this is meant as hate or that I think I know better than you in the end I realise I only get a glimpse of your life so I could be conpletely wrong with all of this! You tell me :D
    Lot of love to you!

Linda I agree with this 100%, we care about you! Also when you feel stressed go to God. In that exact moment and be like hey God I feel stressed but the Bible says Jesus ur burden is light and to cast my fears + anxiety on you. So practice that it’s helped me a lot!

I literally put "rest" and "don't do any work" time on my calendar. It's a fully-sectioned off part of my life, because I know if I don't set aside time, I'll fill it with work before I even realize what's happened!

Take a sabbath. One day a week where you don't do ANY work at all - full time job work, youtube work, etc. Take a day to actually rest and prioritize yourself. Once I worked that into my calendar, my mental health greatly improved. :)

Perhaps you need to reconsider your commitment to RUclips. There is nothing against scaling things down, but since you have a full time job go back and think about why you started RUclips from the start and reconsider your goals for this new life you have. Hopefully that helps. Just take a step back and reconsider your goals. Much love and prayers that you can figure things out! ❤️

I think something that has helped me to rest when my schedule is super overwhelming is to be really intentional about being present on my drive to work, my breaks, eating meals, etc. and treating those as intentional rest!!

I think it would be very helpful to other people that are going through stressful times to know that it is okay to go through something like that and you can pull through it, and that everything is going to be okay afterward if you take care of yourself >3

Personally I love seeing the videos where you seem stress and not okay. It shows you’re real and raw! Totally understand why you wouldnt want to put it up but I think it’s great you at least tell us what’s happening 💕 I’m a social media specialist and own a company on the side so it’s cool to see someone else stressing out with the two things they do for a job. Keep at it girl! 🙌🏼💕

  • @StargEight

I am with you girl! I just came out of a period of overwhelm at work with last-minute events and deadlines and craziness. My top tips: Implement at least one 24-hour period of NO social media every weekend. It is so refreshing! Journal/pray about it (I’m not usually a journaler but it helps me turn things over to God when my brain is overflowing). Try to notice and enjoy the little things like the sunrise and making coffee. Meal prep or get groceries delivered or do whatever you can to take little but annoying tasks off your plate during the week. And remember it’s just a season! :)

It is so inspiring how you view PR packages, the fact that you give away most of what you receive is so generous. Some influencers are quite greedy about what they get and just expect to get things for free. And I wish more people were like you and giving!

Honestly something that I’ve noticed really helps me on stressful days is taking time in the morning to read my bible. Even if it’s only 5 min. Currently I’m reading Psalms and even if you just read one each morning I think that helps a lot to clear your head in the morning. Hope things start to calm down for you soon! ❤️

I've recently started to go back to doing things that brought me joy as a kid. For example, just playing basketball and shooting around for 10 minutes at the end of the day, or even making friendship bracelets that I made at camp growing up. I started doing it for 10 minutes a day or every other day and it has given me such a sense of pause and joy.

Hey Michelle really love your videos, I understand how much stress you are going through right now it cannot be easy. I've been trying to get better at handling my own stresses as well with making sure to split things up a little bit more and just not put as much pressure on myself for everything to be perfect. I've realized that sometimes I need to take my step back and sometimes just lay on the ground do some deep breathing, stretch a little, and it just seems to ground me. And if you need to cut down to 1 video a week no one can hold that against you cause we all love you and care more about you being okay than getting 2 videos a week.

Totally on the same page of stress girl. I'm a senior in college and my last 2 semesters are the block of education classes and then student teaching! I know this feeling of always going and having something to do will not let up anytime soon, especially when I'm officially a teacher 😩 I hope we find some balance for ourselves! I really like the comment someone left about planning time in your planner to relax and not do anything! I read a quote a while ago that was something like "it's not that you don't have time, it's that you're not making time. if it's a priority for you, you will find time"

  • @jordanfahey8527
    @jordanfahey8527 5 лет назад

I work 2 jobs too! Its really hard to juggle and the best way I’ve found to actually get rest and recharge is to literally schedule it in. Set aside a night or two where you don’t do any youtube work. Schedule a few hours to do NOTHING and watch a show or read. Unless you force yourself, you’ll always find something to do during off time. Also you don’t have to upload 2x a week! That’s very regular so if a few weeks you upload once or not at all, that’s completely okay. Hope you are feeling less stressed this week💛

michelle!! you are incredible and do so much and we appreciate you putting effort into your channel for us even though youre so busy with your 9-6. your vlogs make me feel empowered and inspired and im so thankful for you!! i find it difficult to allow myself to chill out and not do anything for a whole day or even just a few hours, but it is imperative. if google calendar is something you rely on i would recommend putting times into your calendar that are like "RELAX TIME :)", and also maybe consider setting an alarm for one point in the day, maybe around 8pm titled "breathe :)" or something like that so it can remind you to take a step back, breathe and relax. i think that might be helpful by just giving you a daily reminder that, when you view your life in a wholistic way, your jobs - even though they take up a lot of your time during this chapter in your life - are only one part of your amazing, beautiful life. i listen to liv b's podcast "Life Chats with Liv B" and it really gives me peace of mind and reminds me of the bigger picture. i love you and hope that this helps :) im routing for you!

  • @BbbradiCP
    @BbbradiCP 5 лет назад +1

Michelle! I recommend you put a block for “rest” on your google calendar!! It will be perfect since that’s what you use for all of your other work things, and your brain is trained to trust your calendar. So if you put a block of time for rest you’ll have peace of mind knowing that’s part of your day and what you should be doing at that time. Since I use planners I usually put it in my planner because my brain really trusts my planner! If that makes sense?! Haha. But keep up the good work girl, just don’t let it consume you!

Hi Michelle, the best advice someone gave me a long time ago was to learn to say NO! You can do so many things but you can’t do it all. You need to prioritize your health, your mental health and your rest. It’s okay to not take on everything. Maybe focus on work stuff for now and try to lower your RUclips work. You will find your balance but prioritize what is most important right now. One day at a time girlie!
I’m 33 and burnt out when I was your age. It was not fun at all but now I’ve learned to balance my things and focus on one task at a time.

there are so many great tips here in the comments! I can totally relate to all you're saying. I run an online clothing store from 5:30am-8am, work a 9-5 and then get back to working on my clothing store when I get back home. It can be so stressful and I'm quickly realizing I need more balance!!

Hey Michelle, I can really relate to the feeling of worry that you’ll turn into someone who works 24/7. I am hard working too and it didn’t help that growing up I saw how work took over everything for my parents so it just became a habit. I’ve learned that I don’t want that for myself so I am now working towards a better balance for my own health and for those around me. One thing that helps me is developing a prioritization system and also getting any annoying or dreaded tasks out of the way first. Then it’s ok to finish for the day with less urgent things maybe still pending but also with time for yourself that you can enjoy without stress. I am still learning though and sometimes still find myself working late to finish something that I failed to prioritize... Good luck 🖤

I've been working on stuff for NYFW at work for so long, and now that it's finally here my stress level is through the roof. I also just moved apartments this week and haven't had time to unpack yet, so things are pretty hectic. This really helped me calm down and encouraged me to keep plowing through everything and get my life together (at least for the time being haha)

One of my favorite things to do when I’m feeling overwhelmed/super busy is when I’m walking places (for me it’s to/from class) I call someone whether it be my sister, mom, cousin, or friend, just to have a moment away from my current reality. It’s super small, but helps a lot!

i would suggest starting each morning out with hand writing a list of the things you absolutely must get done , then what you want to get done and then the things that if you can get done. i think hand writing adds a sense of satisfaction...literally taking the second to cross things off is extremely satisfying & makes you feel like you are accomplishing things & ultimately makes it easier for you to allow yourself to stop!

Setting boundaries on how early or late I'll work in a day really helps. I'm in my second year of med school now and I found having relaxing mornings and evenings helps me be more productive when I am studying, and without those boundaries I'd feel like I should be studying constantly. I also set the major items I want to accomplish on my to do list each day. Without that I feel like I'm swimming upstream and never accomplishing enough. I hope this helps :)

I live in the city and I’m in college and I think that’s New York makes you work harder. There’s so much pressure to be motivated, do a good job, be 10 steps ahead. It’s overwhelming. Growing up in Latin America, we have a tea time at around 4-5 we sit down with the ppl we love and drink tea and eat snacks. Here incollege I take the time to read/draw/listen to music for an hour while I drink tea.

a calendar where you write in work days and “me” days helps me, making sure i go out at least once a month, workout at least 5 days a week, clean on mondays along with self care mondays, at least 2 weekly phone calls to a friend or parent or sibling, and lastly just reminding yourself to take 30 minutes a day to sit in total silence and try not to think(meditation)

Michelle sounds like it might be good to talk to your manager about your workload! Not that you need to take on less, but just a healthy conversation about expectations and deadlines. Sometimes we put too much pressure on ourselves to always be "ahead" or we feel like we're behind. As someone also new in their career constant check-ins with my manager have been so soo helpful to create work boundaries, that way you aren't working 8-6 and then for hours at night as well! It's okay to love what you do and love your job but it's more important to love your life!

    Hi Michelle!
I’m a full time wedding photographer and I can absolutely relate to just not having enough time, especially during my crazy busy season. One thing that I’ve found to be super important is outsourcing. Outsourcing can free up so much of your time and allow for you two properly rest! I’m also a type 1 (major perfectionist) and it is super scary thinking about letting other people into my business, but it is so worth it. I would suggest finding an editor for your videos since editing takes so much time! I think it’s scary at first but I think your happiness will totally be worth it ❤️ I wish you all the love!

Hi, I think that having a night off 2 times during the week of doing absolutely nothing is great . I'm talking about no gym, no RUclips work. Say on Tuesday and Wednesday you come home from work and you simply do nothing meaning you can chill with someone or even just have a spa night for yourself. Ive been doing some me time twice a week id say and it's so nice to think about nothing at all and just have time for myself! I would even suggest you doing a no network night if you can. Put the laptop, phone, iPad away and no social network or work emails to stress about is amazing and is very beneficial for your mental health. Anyways hopefully you will be able to balance everything but I know it can be super hard! On another note, I really enjoyed this video as always. The content on this channel is always on point. I'm 26 working a 9-5 job in management and it's refreshing to see a RUclipsr I can relate to. Have a great weekend 😊

I just realised you post 2 times a week on RUclips so maybe you can post once a week? Even though we all love your videos we want you to look after yourself and will understand 😊. Hey Michelle,
I've found it helps to identify when you will be the most focused and effective, and plan your tough tasks or work for those time periods. For example, if you're not a morning person, you wouldn't procrastinate and save the work for the morning it's due when you're tired and out of it

blue light glasses actually do work because they have a special reflective coating that blocks harmful blue light from electronics and the sun. they make your eyes not only less tired and strained but they also prevent your eye from developing macular degeneration faster due to increased exposure to modern tech.
i worked at an eye doctor's office and the power of these glasses is honestly amazing, so they are very much not a placebo!

Hey Michelle! So I know where you’re coming from, it can be so easy to feel stressed when you have so much going on, but I’d just let remember that it’s completely ok to take a break! You need to rest, we all do. Also, it’s ok to skip out on healthy meals every once in a while, yes it’s important to eat healthy but sometimes we just don’t have the time and that’s alright! Also remember that we are here to support you no matter what, so don’t be afraid to upload maybe once a week or so instead to get to relax. Similar to other comments, I do feel like your videos are starting to become more work after work and although we love how productive you are, remember that you need to rest too! Love you:)

Love this video!! I love how much you talk about your stress, and are so open about it. I highly recommend prioritizing your self care when you're busy (which is super hard to do) but it will pay off in the long run. If that means taking something off your plate, maybe just making one video a week, or meal prepping instead of cooking throughout the week, then so be it. But I still haven't even figured out how to do everything and take care of myself at the same time, so I feel you girl!

I work at an eye dr as an optician, and blue light glasses do work! However, cheap blue light glasses do not work to the full potential that you could be receiving. Consider investing in a nice pair of glasses, possibly with computer prescription and blue light filter from a reputable eyeglass shop. Blue light filtering is important! It helps so much with eye fatigue, headaches, and tiredness throughout the day. It affects sleep too!

Hey girl some things that I have found helpful for managing my time are literally creating time blocks for things. I’ll set a timer for 15 mins and that’s time to clean the kitchen
It’s been said that our brain can only be productive for 45 mins at a time so I’ll set an alarm for 45 mins to get some school work done
I live by those timers and alarms otherwise I’ll spend way too much time doing one thing cause I take breaks to do other things. Hope this helps!

Hey you should try the iS Clinical Cleansing Complex face wash. It helped me with breakouts SO MUCH! It’s super gentle but removes all makeup. It’s a little pricey but Dermstore offers discounts on first purchases. I’ve been using for a year now and I’ll never use anything else

Michelle Im a wife and mum. So of course I have been on this earth a bit longer. I was a working person most of the time I raised my child. Hindsight is 20/20. I was told by my parents to always keep God then people first in my life. That is the creed I have always attempted to live by. So quiet time, a short workout and keeping 1 day a week for rest, relaxation and family has been a priority and worked for me. ( I worked 2 jobs away from home most of my working life and Im a critical care/ trauma nurse by history of my work) I now work from home and also handmake and sell one of a kind fabric and multimedia journals) You have to learn to say no. Its NOT easy. But its a worthwhile skill I think most of those who are hard workers and high achievers fail to learn soon enough. I can tell you not learning it early in life has taken its toll on my own body. Stay well, stay blessed and (fyi) I follow Elevation church of NC pretty closely too. On IG I love @kristywicks and @mytexashome home and fashion influencers a lot. 😊

I always have a to do list. When I start to get overwhelmed by my to do list I switch to a “priority list”. I write everything I have to get done by most important to least. Then I slowly start crossing them off. It’s okay to not get it all done. But you got the most important things on the list finished. Then you can move on to the next.
Also if you have too many priorities then write all your priorities down and slowly cross off ones that aren’t as important right now. I had to do this a few weeks ago. It’s was hard because I took grandparents and family off of the list. But my husband, school and God we’re the most important at that time. By crossing people or things off your priority list it doesn’t mean that they are forever off. It just means they need to go on the back burner for that moment.

Google calendar can be stressful because it's more of a daunting task list and already mentally makes you tired. I do make "non-negotiables" and flexibility in my life. I used to be such a to-the-book timeline oriented person and over the last 3 years it completely drained me and put me in autopilot. Once I started implementing "non-negotiables" on a day-to-day basis it had helped my stress levels and anxiety-driven days. My non negotiables are no phone time after 9pm, deep breathing exercises once I switch from work environment to home environment (so I don't take that work stress home with me!) and not letting any work hinder my 8hr sleep schedule, etc. You gotta find whats right for you tho! Hope this helps

    Making time for rest ideas😴
    • I love blocking out time in the morning just for me time! (I do 60min) I don't have anything specific to do in this time, I do what feels right that day...journal, stretch, rest, workout etc... I listen to what my body and spirit needs and then I can start my day in an amazing mindset ☀️
    • Boundaries! Say no to things, often. It's incredibly liberating
    • Set a work cut off time! Eg: no work past 9pm
    • Go for a walk/hike without your phone 🌲
    • Meditate or pray before bed to give yourself wind down time

I used to go to school for 9 hours per day, taking all AP classes and I had a part - time job... aka no rest. Now I'm in college and working a very awesome job and I am so much better for it. I always ask myself when I start feeling super stressed - what specifically is making me feel this way right now? Not that I have to work or have to do homework etc, what RIGHT NOW is bugging me? When I can't answer the question is when I know it's time to take a few steps back. I make a cup of tea and think to myself - nothing that I "have" to do is absolutely urgent in this moment or the next 15 minutes. I listen to music or read a poem or something relaxing until I am no longer feeling spiral-y. I then make a list and limit myself to 7 things I need to do for the end of the day. I choose the most important things and prioritize day by day.

I love being productive! What really help me to rest well is when I can find rest in God. So I always keep a journal and a planner.
Writing my prayers out help me to stay focus on God, seek Him and find true rest and that helps me to relax. With journalling, I can also go through the things that make me stress and submit them to Him.
Having a planner helps me to do things in order (most important and urgent to the lesser ones) and seeing a bigger picture of how I usually spend my time and evaluate from there.
It has helped me so much, hopefully you can find an effective way to rest too!

I wa so happy when I saw this vlog. I just started full time RA training for school, but I also have another job here (I do social media for my majors department), and I'm starting to realize how busy I'm going to be when school starts too (in two weeks). I have so much to do, and I'm trying to prioritize my own health, but I still want to get to know my new RA coworkers and be able to help out my residents when they get here. :/ I love everything I'm doing and I'm excited for the classes I'm taking, but it's hectic already.

About blue light and screens, there’s an app called f.lux that progressively removes the cold light from your computer screen as the day goes by, so that at night your screen doesn’t emit any blue light (it mimics what the sun does). I also spend a lot of time on computers and it has made my life so much better!

Kinda late, but when life gets really busy, I just make one area of my day to day life a little extra special. iOS ten to podcasts while doing the dishes, I take fancy relaxing baths instead of showers, I sit in silence on my car drives and just think and breathe. And then sometimes just getting coffee with a friend or alone and refusing to worry about work and school. Hope any of this helped

I know that something that has helped me before with stress is to make sure you set aside a certain time in your evening for self care. One hour isn't going to set you back in work and it'll really help you mentally. If you already do that then you could also try one day a week, don't do anything for RUclips. Just let yourself get off your normal job, come home, see Aidan or just relax on your own!

Hey Michelle!! I usually don’t comment but I can SO relate to the overwhelming stress! One thing I do to help manage it all is to schedule something just for myself into the day - whether it’s dinner with my boyfriend, going for a run or yoga class, or watching an episode of a TV show. Even though life gets so so busy, I find having something to look forward to and a scheduled break (despite wanting that hour or two to get work done) really helps reset my brain so I feel able to take on the stress of getting my whole to-do list done! Hope you’ve had a wonderful week

My tip that I am still learning to do is not working after hours. Especially if you’re a 40hr per week salary person. They aren’t paying you for those extra hours. It’s hard being young too and wanting to prove yourself. Self care is important :)

Here’s my tips: Make a cut off time!! Stop after 10 pm (or whatever time you want) that way you don’t work yourself sick! Try an act of self care after you stop work too. You need to get Use a weekend day for a catch up day for all the little things that got left behind through the week!

So glad you got a chance to rest and rejuvenate. Being out in nature is a great way to de-stress. Even when you are back in New York, schedule in time to just take a walk in nature (parks, the Highline, etc). Also magnesium bisglycinate supplements are great. I take one capsule before bed and it is very relaxing and helps me get to sleep. Don't know if you can get Lorna Vanderhaeghe supplements in your area but I highly recommend her brand. Or you could take a relaxing bath with epsom salts. They contain magnesium. Taking even 5 or 10 minutes out in your day to meditate is really good. You don't need to do any formal meditation...just close your eyes and concentrate on your breath...that works well. I also like listening to classical music to relax. It is very important to take care of yourself; you can't function if you are constantly burned out. Maybe also you could spread your videos out a little farther apart to give yourself a break. Hope these suggestions help.
