      Unless you want to add the colonialism with is irrelevant since it was common in the age, is like pointing a finger at something anyone was doing they just could not do it at that extende, not because they did not want to but because they were to week.

      magellan had been in the indies before he went to portugal, so technically, by returning there, he circumnavigated the world, albeit not in one single voyage
