- Perranporth beach has some of the best sunsets in Cornwall and on this chilly winter day I decide to stealth camp in my van at one of Cornwall’s most popular locations.

I do enjoy your stealth "overnight" videos and much support for shining the spotlight on our beautiful Cornwall. I say "Overnight" because sleeping in your van overnight is not defined as "camping." What you do whilst in your "closed" van is no ones business. Camping behavior is defined as deploying awnings, chairs, tables and cooking apparatus or any one single item from the aforementioned list outside your van. I've been stealth vanning for 4 years and have traveled over 30,000 miles through 14 countries and never encountered a problem with local authorities during that time. We always adhere to the policy of leave no trace and don't flout the rules of prohibited "camping behavior." Anyway, great content, much success to you in 2023.

Interesting stuff - I use to live here in the 1990’s so pleased I don’t anymore. Such a seasonal place these days. Tough place to try and make a living!! Good to see the place though!! Great video 👍

@@LoveSundays almost impossible no movement of money and industries these days. Cornwall desperately needs one again. It would be a great place again if new investment into a new project started up. I moved to Cornwall in the late 70’s and loved the place.

You can park overnight in the petrol station car park. We have done it loads,during the winter months is was just a donation to the RNLI.

Only recently found your channel, it's excellent! Why is it so difficult to van camp in the westcountry? Especially in winter when all the campsites are closed down here, We're near Barnstaple so know what it's like. Back in January we went to the Lakes & SW Scotland. Campsites open and places to stop. Devon & Cornwall are missing a trick here.
Surely you could have found somewhere better than Perran high Street. Happy new year!

Spent Xmas in my van down by Lands end, very windy and plenty of rain.van was rocking me to sleep each nite 💨 😄 love Cornwall when it's so quiet, bit tricky though as could find any board wax for my new board, ha. It was great to be home though.

This is exactly why I love being a cornish girl and I'd never leave..... This is just one of 3 of the beaches that are a min down the road from my house. Most summers I can't even get to one with my kids due to holiday makers etc.

Staying at the top of that hill is absolutely fine. Done it many times. I have to say you missed out on the best Burgers in Cornwall. Go to the takeaway called Pitsa37, just up from the pub you went in, by the stream.

Great to see the van back in action, it's some years since I was there, I tend to head for Mullion, Mannacan, Marazion areas, I can well imagine Perranporth being very busy in the summer, brilliant number of subscribers!!

The kids love the big camp site (no free advertising). Your right about the parking, very strange but like most Devon and Cornwall places, so busy during the warm months and ghost towns for the rest. Glad to see your van back. I have a similar problem with my Vivaro with oil on the Alternator. which causes a no charge light (mew alternator).
Lots of oil round the inter-cooler outlet side but not the hose. I will have to do a strip down and try and trace it.
I’m starting to lose faith in my Vivaro these days sadly
@@LoveSundays I did the strip down and test, found the outlet hose from the inter-cooler was not sitting 100% and the cause of the leak. Now fixed and the engine is running at the correct RPM on tick over.
I bought my Van with a fault but on the Engine ( EGR ) but with a good OBD tester i traced it to a small solenoid and fitted it myself. The Vivaro is a good inexpensive van and good MPG. The only real problem was the rusted injectors due to the leak from the scuttle panel which you have to take of and run some gasket seal around the edge. Plenty of good RUclips Vids for some of the faults and how to fix. Don't lose faith all Vans have some Faults, Happy stealth camping.
Thanks Jon, mine has now started losing power and won’t rev past 3,000 rpm. It could just be the EGR Valve but I’m praying it’s not time for new injectors.
@@LoveSundays Get some EGR spray cleaner, disconnect the inter-cooler outlet pipe. have the engine rev at 2000rpm and spray short bursts into the inter-cooler pipe. about half the tin should do. if the engine revs then the EGR is good. Start withe the simple options first that don't cost. elimination of the simple things first. Injectors give clues if they are not working, smoke, misfire while driving poor idle. Good idea to check the RPM on tick over is 900 and steady. Has this started after the garage visit, if so check all connectors are tight.
We always stay in Perranporth, last year was the first couple of weeks in June, previously it’s been the first couple of weeks in July. Even before the school holidays, you can struggle to park in that car park. My fiancé and I went in November back in 2019 and it was so much quieter.
We love Perranporth and would recommend it to anyone.

Miss Perranporth terribly, so it's wonderful that you bring this to us. Always went after peak season, much better and quiet too.
You can camp in the lower carpark, though like with anywhere, the chances are you 'may' get a fine or be asked to move on. Much better to sneak to the upper carpark or even a side road.
I remember when they had that really bad storm, and I and others were ringing up to check if the watering hole was still there and okay!

If you go up the hill and take the first left after Haven there’s loads of parking along the road that’s ideal.
Also, if you go the other way out of Perran toward St Agnes, there’s a spot on the right just at the top of the hill that’s literally perfect to park over night. Cligga head it’s called.
