I noticed during the game that the Warriors got away with an awful lot of illegal screens that were moving to impede the defender and clearly was never set. Instead of a foul called on the illegal screener, the defender was called for a foul while trying to navigate around the moving screen
I was shocked with the amount of moving screens the Warriors got away with against Houston. The screener was clearly moving to impede the defender, Dillon Brooks, on multiple occasions, and instead of a moving screen being called, the defender was called for a foul.
Great video. I do feel like "much better on defense" isn't giving Sengun credit. He's been great defensively this season. Even in this game he had some great defensive plays. Steph is tough to guard.
The Sengun film isolation is a bit misleading.. a team attacking a center in drop coverage isn't some revelation of bad defense, its one team taking advantage of a defensive scheme. The Rockets adjusted in the 4th quarter. This same thing is what happened to Al Horford, an all world defensive center when the Celts played Warriors in the finals, and Steph and Dray spammed the DHOs because he wouldnt step up in drop coverage. Also Mavs attacked Gobert the raining DPOY in Drop. This just sounds like you trying to justify a preconceived label you've attached to a player. He has played this team before and has had great stretches, I expect better basketball breakdowns form you. Jabari was attacked in the post numerous times that's why they sent help, they also cut backdoor multiple times on many players. The reason Sengun wasn't pulled is because without him our half-court offense is worst ever. No one player can be perfect, HE IS A GOOD DEFENDER! liv with it.
the issue isn't "attacking the center" as a schematic concept, it's that Sengun is constantly letting these dudes turn the corner when the ball screen is that high up the court. And yes, Gobert absolutely gets attacked in the playoffs, that's an issue. That's not a justification. Sengun's fine on defense for the most part in the regular season and I would say he's largely been good this year. Also, there are real issues that teams will be able to exploit in the playoffs. It's okay to call these things out.
@@GameTheoryPodcastwSamVeceniehe's been great defensively this year. I think the reputation of him in the past and Europeans in general is still attached to him.
@ yes it’s okay to call things out but ignoring the larger body of work to make a narrative is misleading. The Rockets have been elite at guarding screening actions this season with Sengun, their defense is better when he’s on the floor, they all struggle vs the warriors.. there are potential issues for every player on that team in a playoff setting.
Despite the majority of the media and fans outside of Houston assuming Jalen Green is a bad defender that asserts little effort on defense, Green has been stellar on defense. Its assumed that Jalen Green is the weakest defender of Houston starting lineup and that he's purely an offensive player. But numerous nights this season where he's completely ineffective offensively, he was rarely benched and was kept in for defensive purposes. Last season, when he struggled offensively, he was oftentimes benched as he doesn't provide much elsewhere outside of scoring. This season despite his inconsistent offense, he has shown massive improvements on defense
Sam.. if you're going to do the DU/ER jeans advertisement show us a picture of the jeans..I'm kind of lazy.. plus I dont wanna look them up while I'm watching the pod...I might forget to check them out later..😂
Why is FVV going over the screens at center court?? I get Curry is amazing shooter, but go under the screen when they're that high and stop leaving your center on an island 40 ft from the basket.
They were ‘letting them play’ a lot, but the exceptions before the last call all went GS’s way. Curry’s and1 was a touch call, for example. Jalen was absolutely mugged almost right after and no call. And that should have been a violation on the last inbounds, it was 5.8 seconds. 😊
The intense defense played by the Rockets is so consistent.

I don’t want to hear a word about the refs from the Warriors while they continue to set lead blocks while calling them “screens”
Also, they still had a chance to win with 3.2 seconds left and they blew it.
I was shocked with the amount of moving screens the Warriors got away with against Houston. The screener was clearly moving to impede the defender, Dillon Brooks, on multiple occasions, and instead of a moving screen being called, the defender was called for a foul.
And the last 2 min report showed it was a foul. Refs didn’t win anyone the game

Jalen Green is so underrated on defense. He has been locking people down this season.

I wish you would have shown that block on Steph by Amen.
Or the poster Tari put draymond on.
I think i DID show the block on Steph by Amen!

Those Bose headphones are slick AF. Best ones I’ve ever owned, so I know Sam is loving them.
Um.. Dillon,Tari and Amen are all first team defensive . Btw Kuminga has Jalen in a headlock .
Subscribed. Good job, Sam.

Excellent take 👌
Real hoops !
🚀🚀🚀 such an amazing game!
Thanks refs!
Considering the amount of teams playing amazing defense. Grizzlies, Warriors, Thunder, Hawks, and Rockets. Who would make the all defense teams
