DUDE!!! Thanks for this. I've been cutting little pieces of wire and tying the chicken wire to the cattle panels. It sucks. I had no idea they made that tool. The ring tool. I bought it right after watching this! Awesome
I hope to purchase a cattle panel (one for experimenting to use as a divider between breeds) to see if my heavier breeds can/will fly over it. Thanks for your presentation!
Know about the " it works " fencing. I found a lot of pallets for free and using my nail gun made our chicken enclosure. Now 8 years later I am looking forward to replace it as it has served it's time. Cattle panels may be an option, they have many variables for use also. This year's project is making the money to buy chimney to install the Kitchen Queen before winter. Blessings
My biggest question is the door ?? How do I make it so I can go in an out of this area without making vulnerable spot in it and also how to make a secure on while the panels are held together with just the metal posts ?
Good question, I cut a cattle panel section, maybe 5ft long and did the same chicken wire treatment to the bottom section of it. I used romex wire to tie all these panels to the T-posts. I just used the romex wire and made bigger loops and created a hinge or a lasso that the panel can rotate. I’m sure a large carabineer would also work. I use a bungee to hold the gate closed
@@YoungbloodFamilyFarm dude !! I love this idea I thought it would be more complicated then that but love that idea I’m going to build the exact fence you did with the $20 cattle panel and chicken wife on the bottom… I guess this is my only other question how do secure the fence down to the ground just put the cattle panel flush with the ground or do you bury it a little ? Guess the door part has to be either even with that the panels next to it or slightly higher…do you think this setup it going to fall over at all or be warped to a bad point if my dog were to run into it or try to jump up on it ? My dog is about 25 pounds but trying to get idea of how sturdy before I build it all or get all the materials and get started to find out that it my dog can just knock through it
@@RedDawnReadiness I have a T-post about every 8 feet and I didn’t dig this fencing in at all. You may want to if you have pressure from predators or your pet. I do not think a 25 lb dog could push this over
I have not had issues with hawks or raccoons, however this fence will not prevent those issues. I get a few chickens that fly over, but they will stop after I trim their wings. This fence was more to keep my (rescue) dog out of the run
I have range shelters and quite a few crows that help with flying predators, however we don’t have many. As far as raccoons, shut the chickens away at night, I have not had raccoon issues with my layers

Yes! This is exactly how we did it, I would prep a bunch of wire and me and a couple kids would wrap and spin with pliers. This tool changes the game!

Wow! You discovered CHICKEN WIRE!!
I invented it

Amazing things have been done with both pallets and cattle panels! The Kitchen Queen sounds like a great and worthwhile project!
Im Australian and have clevery dumb chivkenw thx for the help

Where do you find this fencing for so cheap
2019
Have any chickens flown out? I keep being told that I need to make my fencing at least 6’ tall

I was googling and found this...can you tell us how to keep chicken hawks out?
I have never had an issue with hawks in my 10 years of keeping Chickens, sorry I cannot help
What do you do for raccoons or flying predators?
I have range shelters and quite a few crows that help with flying predators, however we don’t have many. As far as raccoons, shut the chickens away at night, I have not had raccoon issues with my layers
I like that wooden fencing. What is it called please?
Snow fence
Don’t you have trouble with Hawks getting them??
I have never had a single hawk issue in 10 years of chicken keeping. Range shelters are helpful
Can chickens have too much run?
Not sure,
I made this for my dog
Nice, I made mine to keep the dog out!

Hi I like this, just wondering what kind of gate you have on it?
I used a 6 foot section of Cattle panel with the chicken wire attached. I used wiring to make the hinge and a bungee strap to hold it closed
@@YoungbloodFamilyFarm nice and simple thank you very much :)
