That's insane how the Pinkerton agency was established in my hometown of Chicago. So much history of the west left untold, such a shame. Would love more videos like this!
I actually had family members who worked for the Pinkertons back then, hell my father and uncle worked for the pinkertons in 70’s as security guards. Also nobody ever talks about the good the pinkertons did in the west by helping bring in outlaws.
I came over from the recent news of the Wizards Of The Coast CEOs sending the Pinkertons to intimidate a guy to give back a box of Magic The Gathering cards sets they accidentally sold him. They intimated and coerced him to give back the cards with legal action. Basically an armed robbery.
well the problem with that is that all the gangs are fictional, as in they never existed unlike the pinkertons, they were real. though, i guess you can ask him to talk about the gangs that the rdr2 gangs were based off of, if there are any.

The picture you posted that was supposedly the Pinkerton detectives at 9:55 is not a picture of the Pinkertons, on the contrary- thats a picture of legendary late 19th-century outlaw gang “The Wild Bunch” or “Hole in the Wall Gang”. Two very famous and notable members of this gang were Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. You might wanna check that out. Great video nonetheless, and I thoroughly enjoyed- just thought i had to address it seeing as I’m a huge Old West History buff.
Pinkerton played both sides in civil war, I got reason to suspect they were in on it with Lincoln L’s death 🫠 Idk at the end of the day, Hasbro is weird asf for sending a government agency nobody knew like that to reclaim cards lol that sounds like some Hitman shit
Fun fact. Civil asset forfeiture by police now exceeds robbery in the US. The public police aren't so different from the Pinkertons, they are just much better at marketing.
If you can't pay your bills or if you do something that compromises the safety of other tenents/people, then you likely dont deserve to have what you supposedly own (based upon a piece of paper). Unless of course you make your own stuff...

Im surprised this was a real thing. Very interesting history. You give really awesome history lessons. 👍 The pinkertons sound very mercenary like. As companies and people with enough money could hire them. I can see Cornwall in red dead redemption 2 hiring and paying the pinkerton to go after Dutch's gang. Also it is worrying that there are those who want to privatise the police in a effort to stop police brutality will just make brutality worse. I just learnt some new things today.

Pinkerton was essentially the earliest form of a privatized militia company. Kind of like blackwater on steroids.
