Love the idea that you can swap out empty for full wagons out of sight in the quarry building. That will look marvellous in practice at a show. Please do a video of that operation once complete.
Yes the 94xx was real - 2 are preserved, 9400 at STEAM in Swindon and 9466 currently at the South Devon Railway and owned by Jonathan Jones-Pratt. I have one of the Lima ones and it runs beautifully since I rebuilt it, strong and smooth motor now and I tidied up the livery with a total repaint, originally being GWR Weathered Green but now BR Black with Early Emblem like yours. The new layout looks amazingly good once again, lots going on in a small space.
Terrific looking layout with a lot of shunting potential. Very inspirational. I was toying with making a layout to fit in a Christmas wrapping paper box for storage. Maybe this track plan can be adapted for what I want. Terrific guys, thanks for sharing.
Great video as ever. My temporary track is on a board that's 80cm deep 220 cm wide, and goes under the sofa!! Its a loop with sidings, but this gives me an idea to have a shunting yard in the middle, with access back onto the loop. I have a twin gaugemaster controller too to help with picking up between the tracks... you guys are great for inspiration. Thanks
Nice layout, a mini double Inglenook! With regard to run round loops the real Prestatyn and Dyserth was interesting in that all trains were propelled to Dyserth as there were no run round loops on the line. I have seen a picture of a Black 5 propelling a couple of mineral wagons at Dyserth so even big locos work on little lines like this - Brilliant!
A lot of action for a small space...brilliant! The staging track could be worked as well during an operating session swapping out goods for passenger consists or a DMU adding to the value.
Hiya! You have shown quite a few layouts over the last year. It would be great if you did a summary video just showing us a quick tour of all your current little layouts in your possession (at whatever stage they are at) so we can remind ourselves of all your ideas. Just a thought.
good idea. you could also could also show us how to service trains as I have my mums old tt gauge locos but don't work well and I don't know how to reservice them.
Superb! I have made an almost similar one but a bit longer in length so 2 passenger bogies can fit on platforms and there's a loco shed at the other end
Thaks to your aproch I've got back into model railways and now have a layout in progress in 00 keep up the exellent work both of u and always look forwards to ur videos
Quite an interesting layout, amazing what you can find in these books on the smaller lines. One can never read enough of these books to get ideas for shunting and modelling. Btw nice locomotive but I've got you beat on the price though, last weekend I've bought two working Fleischmann switchers in N scale for 10 euros, great catch that. Little things like that keep you happy in this hobby :-)
@@BudgetModelRailways It pays to be early at this fair I guess. But it's also a necessity because of the parking there, you wouldn't believe the mess over there. And that's just the regular one, november has one planned with an extra room just for demonstration purposes of digital technology. Half an hour after opening there isn't a free spot in sight on the whole of the business park. Just an impression www.modelspoorbeurs.nl/360-tour/
Another interesting layout. Have you tried the free download of Anyrail 6 to figure out track plans? Like you, I've used shed roofing felt as a base. On my latest effort, I used some woodchip wallpaper, painted grey, and the texture passes for ballast.
Very good interesting Layout great bargain with the 94xx also where did you get your Hornby Class 06 as I am thinking of getting one I know they aren't produced anymore but where would you recommend getting a pre-owned one from?
eBay, or you could try classic rails website or hattons. Personally I wouldn't pay more than £20 Inc p&p both of mine cost me £13 with a repainted one being less than £10
I am going to build a layout with Triang loco and some super 4 track and use system 6 track so that old and new loco can run . like Hornby and Lima. One of thing love to is rebulding Loco and repair them to.
Don`t cover the fiddle yard - use it as part of layout....a good idea is to take a photo of an old rail site with sidings then copy it for model layout...
Ooo a _quary_ ...THAT'S what my little shortline in a lovely bit of nowhere needs to justify rail service. A quary that produces a particularly rare bit of marble. Now that we can justify rail, smaller things like a craft brewery, a winery, general-goods (for locals), and a hot-spring spa (for tourists) can be served without the lines seeming implausible. 🚂🚃😊💜
That’s was a lot to take in, brilliant to hear the research done as it reflects in your plans. Can’t wait for this little gem to develop.
That loco was a great deal!
Stimulating and informative as always. Thanks. I have been thinking about doing a 'OO' layout and this encourages me more!
Thanks, best advice is keep it simple, have fun and just do it
As always straight forward no nonsense and packed full of ideas and enthusiasm. Many thanks.
Thanks
An excellent use of space, I love seeing how ideas change over time when planning and reading up on things, cant wait to see what this turns into.
I love watching the layouts evolve
For a small layout, you have got a lot is. Absolutely brilliant.
Thanks
Looks great. A lot of ideas packed into a small space.

We have a video on its operation, on a different layout but same building, due out today
The "KISS" principle always works well. You will have a lot of fun with that shunting layout. Cheers Greg

PS Will you be publishing a track plan?? Tried to scetch it out while watching the video!
Might this be useful perhaps?

Fabulous idea and a very interesting video....Great to see...Ade
9" x 4'...that's neat. Lot of action in that space.
Hello, I look forward to your progress. I’ll be watching your tutorial Tuesday episodes. See ya.
Lots planned, trying to find the time is the problem
A lot of action for a small space...brilliant! The staging track could be worked as well during an operating session swapping out goods for passenger consists or a DMU adding to the value.
Thanks that's the idea
Excellent video and detailed explanation in how railways operate, thank you.
Fabulous, as always.

Do you have time to think about anything else besides what the next layout will be. Another super idea Mike, keep em' coming. Frank

@@BudgetModelRailways ok Thanks for the quick reply and the info :)
How/where do you get your secondhand track? Especially that cheap! I just can’t find any like that.
Try Classic rail
very interesting
Nice project coming on
could you show us how to service trains as I have my mums old tt gauge locos but don't work well and I don't know how to reservice them.
We have a video on servicing the Hornby 0-4-0 that might help
@@BudgetModelRailways thanks should help.
I suppose you could do a colliery one with industrials? Like little 0-4-0's
That would be excellent
Hmm, I've got a 5ft - 9in by 1ft-3in draw sort of going spare.
Plenty of space to have a lot of fun with
So whats keeping you from starting :-)
Was “Colonel Potter” a MASH reference? Another great layout for ideas and inspiration. Thanks!
Kind of my surname is potter
Oh! Joke went over my head. 😁
Looks like a Hawksworth 94xx class 0-6-0 , you bought.
Thanks
@@BudgetModelRailways ,your welcome.

Thats great, we have shown Windows in an earlier video if that helps
When you get class 73?
Last week, £19 Inc p&p on eBay. It's a repaint but nicely done and runs well
@@BudgetModelRailways it's nice, worth it then😃😄😃

You can cover the frogs with silver paper...aids running
We did that on an earlier video

It's always nice to have a purpose to a line. I did actually build a quarry layout, the videos are on our channel if that helps
