I've installed 2 spoilers without any issues. When I took mine off for another project, I used 3M tape and used a heat gun to warm the car and help it set quicker. Also used 3M adhesive promoter too. Mine is stuck on there for good now.
@@BCTeslaGuy Thanks for the reply and that info... Did either of them not lay perfectly flush before adhering them to the car, even after measuring? Mine needs to be pressed a bit, especially on the ends, to form to the car, I am going to try the stronger tape and hopefully it will hold.. I purchased the one linked on your page for reference.
you can use a heatgun or hairdryer to warm the area for a stronger bond. Just don't overheat. I used a heatgun as I was installing mine in a cold garage. Worked well for me.
Love my spoiler. No problems at all. If you're going to install one, be sure to clean well and best to apply in warm or hot weather and hold in place with painters tape for a couple days.
Had it on my first M3 for a year without issue before I sold it. Installed the same one again on my 2022 M3 LR. Been on for 3 months so far without issue. No concerns at all.
Great vid. I just ordered a red M3. Taking delivery in December. I checked the tesla spoiler. 800 dollars. This looks the same basically. Might look into it.
How is it hoding up? I want to get the same WJM ones . You got the matte? I am thinking gloss black. Great video. Any issue during winter or car washes?
They use 3M tape so you can also verify with 3M how long to wait. 80% of the strength will be there right away and will get better over time. Temperature also has a effect on cure time. I used a heatgun to warm the tape and surface before applying. In the summer, I would not have had to do that.
@@BCTeslaGuy i also use my hair dryer and 3m adhesion promoter. i'll drive it soon...and the forecast is rain and cold..wish me luck...maybe stay away from freeways?
@@BCTeslaGuy awesome. I actually bought 1 cheap ones and really did not like the quality so did not install it. Will pull the trigger on this one. Thanks again.
you won't be disappointed. Be sure to install when it's hot or use a heat gun to help improve the bond. Just be careful to not overheat. Proper placement will ensure a proper fit. On the second one, I misplaced the spoiler so I had to remove and reinstall using new 3M tape. It's been 3 months since I installed and it looks great and holding strong.
@@BCTeslaGuy also wanted to ask if i install it lets say 11 am today in a heated garage and lets it dry cure for about 24 hours and take it out in the hwy around afternoon next day will it be okay? How long did you wait?
Duct tape is not recommended to use on painted surface. That why we have different tape so called painter tape which is green/ blue tape that DB Tesla used. I do not know why he also used duct tape for the project.
don't use magic eraser...that's like sandpaper on your car...if you ever need to remove the spoiler you will need to get that paint corrected/polished. Nice car by the way :-)
I only used the magic eraser on the locations where the 3M tape was going to bond to the paint. Since I had previously ceramic coated my car, 3M tape would not bond to the car. I've since sold my car and installed the same spoiler on my new 2022 M3 LR prior to ceramic coating. I do understand your point.
@@BCTeslaGuy either way...if that spoiler falls off you would probable get another one...lol...so in your case I can understand why you did it...(you will always have a spoiler there :-)
The tints, and the spoiler make you Tesla look even more sexy and sporty!!!
Totally Agree. thanks
Hello fellow neighbor (AB). Just picked up one of these on aliexpress as well. Makes the car look that much better! Cheers
Awesome. So easy to install. I'm sure you got yours much cheaper on AliExpress. Mine was $210 on Amazon
@@BCTeslaGuy ya I got for 100 but it's a 25 day wait 😂
@@TeslaHo Nice. Good name for your car. subbed to your channel. :)
Good job & good technique. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Does it haev any spoiler effect or is it purely cosmetic?
It does something at higher speeds. Exactly the same as the one used on the Model 3 Performance.
The place where I live can be cold as -30c, will that affect the adhesiveness?
It shouldn't 3M tape is really strong. On my previous model 3 I had to use a heat gun to remove the spoiler.
Thanks for sharing. Is it still holding up after almost 1 year ?
Yes, absolutely. I sold my car after 1 year and installed the exact same one on my M3 LR. Very happy with it.
Hi, how is the fit on the left and right bottom sides of the spoiler? I bought one and the firmament was horrible, may try to reorder.

Thanks for the awesome video. Curious, how do you know which side goes up? Any cue?
only fits on one way.
@@BCTeslaGuy I think it’s the wide side up :)
6:04 Auch!! You’re sanding the paint with magic erasers!
I prevoiusly applied ceramic coating and was removing it to allow the 3M tape to bond to the paint.
How has your spoiler held up? Any issues with the ends staying in place on the body?

I use Adam's Graphene Ceramic Coating. Really easy to apply.

Your welcome. Lots of new Tesla Owners.
when can you drive the car after install of the spoiler?
You should leave the support tape on for a few hours. I left mine overnight and was good to go.
