Beautiful. This video makes me think. . . I work in Industrial automation where robots and machines are the builders. Given this perspective, I'm fascinated with things hand-made. Especially with processes that are BETTER suited for a human hand, than a machine's. It's possible a machine could be built to assemble Kumiko but economies of scale wouldn't allow it. There is an intrinsic currency embedded in things like this, especially when the things have beauty. It exists because shortcuts don't. (Besides a super-secret table saw sled) Anyways awesome video and congrats on the FWW article!
Thanks for the video Mike!! Glad to finally see a table saw sled that shows how to make the hexagonal kumiko. Super cool that this made it into fine woodworking, Congrats!!!

BTW Pink Floyd is my go to for the shop. Wish You Were Here is my fav along with DSOTM of course. Ummagumma is on repeat. Saw DSOTM when they came to D.C. at JKF Center when I was a junior in high school. Blew me away.
I can't see the 64ths either, I go crosseyed trying to focus on one. I'm sure that show was spectacular. Dark side is one of the best albums made.
Thank you very much. Interesting thoughts.
Fantastic video as usual. All the best for the new kid
Thank you. We are rapidly closing in on the due date.
Thanks for the video Mike!! Glad to finally see a table saw sled that shows how to make the hexagonal kumiko. Super cool that this made it into fine woodworking, Congrats!!!
Thank you Robert.
Congrats on the article in fine woodworking!

Very nice! Thanks for the descriptions you gave, and congratulations on the new arrival!
Thank you very much.
Hi Mike, just found this channel fairly recently. Your work is exquisite. I love the idea of the thickness jig. Keep up the good work, I'll be watching.
Thank you very much. Great to have you onboard.
Nice work, Mike. Been exploring kumiko recently. Amazing history and techniques.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This video/article pushed me over the fence on my Fine Woodworking Unlimited sign up decision. I'm going to give this a shot this weekend I think. I wonder how it will handle a 40mm pitch
Thank you. Let me know how you like it. 40mm is fine, thats about 1 1/2". Anywhere from 1" on up would work fine.
Very nice Mike. As always, well done.
Thank you Pat.
Congrats for the props from FWW! Cool project!
Thank you very much.
BEAUTIFUL, and congrulations on New kiddo...
