- Selena shows her two boutiques in San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas. This was a dream of hers since she was a child and was able to accomplish it in 1994. The boutiques offered hairdressing and manicure services as well as jewelry and clothes that she designed or that were similar to what she used to wear.

Selena was the first singer with a clothing line and made crossover music popular.. after her passing it became a trend with every singer in the USA to have a clothing line and every singer in Latin America to cross over to English!! Sel was a trendsetter and an inspiration to many till today!

Yes. She mentioned alot that theres still ALOT she wanted to do aside from singing. Her dad would scold her and tell her to just sit back and relax while the money came in but she refused and opened up 3 boutiques and was in the process of opening more of them. She also wanted a farm, 5 kids and alot more.
She was so multitalented and mature beyond her years. It's incredible how much she achieved just at 23 years old. Had she lived, she would've had a huge fashion/music/beauty empire. She would've been bigger than Beyonce and JLo combined.

I've always loved those beaded watches at 2:16. It also makes me wish her family would reproduce some of her jewelry items that she designed, like those watches, so we could all have a chance to have something that she designed, especially for people like me that never got a chance to come to Texas before her boutiques closed & who can't afford a plane ticket to Texas. I live in Southwest Virginia, so to have something that she designed would be so amazing & special, no matter if it is a reproduction of the originals. 💜

if i had a time machine, id go to Selena’s house the moments before she left it on march 31st 1995, and pull out my phone and show her screenshots of how she died and as much as it would take to convince her to stay home. as long as it’s been man it still pains me to know she’s not here anymore.

You r all right, Selena was tired of concert tours etc. and she love clothing designing,from age 11 she did uniforms for whole band.Also, she did all her outfits,plus she had her clothing line sold in Sears, J.C.Penney and one more store and that's way she hired professional designer, Martin Gomez. I wonder if I could have got a hair cut in her store.......
verlaine T. she wasn't tired of performing and being on stage. she just wanted to pursue her dream as a clothing designer. it was her father's dream to make it in the music industry but failed on his own. so he saw the talent in his skids so he went on and made it happen with them. as an adult she loved performing and meeting new people. but she wanted more than just music. MD lots of celebrities have followed in Selena's foot steps and made a brand name for themselves and I'm sure it's for the money to keep coming in as the spotlight won't be on them for ever! makes sense

She wanted the crossover more than anything. I think she still loved performing and music but with the Boutique/Salon she had total control. Whereas Abraham controlled everything else she did. There was an interview of him getting choked up almost crying saying “why didn’t we support her more then maybe this wouldn’t have happened?” Because she kept Yolanda around and relied on her so heavily when it came to developing the business in Monterey since Yolanda was mire fluent and was helping her with contacts in Mexico. My heart breaks every time I see anything about Selena. This story is literally the saddest. I will never understand why Yolanda did her like that. Smh
