    I really enjoy the "hello" yell at the unit @ 24:35 in review of "music mode" for the X100. 🙂 Thanks for reviewing these Andrew. I've been wondering about the G200 since it was announced... and your review doesn't do anything to change my mind about staying on the fence... assume this unit would be similar to the X100 when using with spotlight / fresnel attachments - which would be main reason I could possibly imagaine picking one of these up - for tight spaces, etc.

    One con I think you missed on the x100 is that it only dims to 13% power when you set it to "1%". And there are two firmwares and they sometimes ship with the old firmware that goes to 1% but has very inaccurate color temp but the new firmware fixes this by preventing it from dimming below about 13% brightness. I would assume this is because it may have a very low precision dimming curve. A pro is that I found the Bluetooth to be more stable than Aputure lights I was using alongside them. The rigged Aputure lights had to be power cycled every day but the x100 and g200 could be operated via BT rigged out of reach for days without needing power cycles. Also "live" mode on the x100 doesn't work with USB power, only 24v power. That's the mode that turns it on automatically when power is connected, so it's a good thing the Bluetooth doesn't need power cycling because it would be a pain to have them rigged out of reach and have to hit the button to power cycle them every day if they are powered by USB. I only use USB power on them because 100w GaN power supplies are about half the size and weight of the included power supply and they're multi purpose for powering/charging other USB devices.

    It is such a shame that the Molus lights come with such a weird Bowens adapter, thanks a lot for talking about it in depth as this wasn't pointed out in other reviews!!

    The molus x100 battery has failed me twice. It fried itself and my usb-c charging hub first. There was warranty so they sent a replacement, however the 2nd one fried itself again and the usb-c wall charger that I was using.
    Ive reported it since then and have been waiting for 2 months for a resolution.

    One thing I’m curious about from users of the Molus 100… reviews on B&H keep turning up issues with the battery dying after a short time of use, a few months or so.

    Just an extra bit of info. I bought a g200 and had to send it back as my Aputure light dome II wouldn’t fit. A few other people online had similar issues, but someone else said they could get theirs on, so just something to be aware of. It could be a manufacturing issue. I tried a few other bowen mounts, some would squeeze on, others wouldn’t.

    Can suggest you to render videos at UHD - youtube's compression eats the fine details of 1080p videos, and it's only gonna be worse in the future. Even scaling 1080p to UHD timeline will drastically boost the quality of the upload. Right now it's kinda hard to see the nuances of shadows rendering you demonstrated here, for example. Still, thanks for the review.

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  9 месяцев назад

      The Australian internet is so incredibly slow with uploads. The maximum upload speed available in my street is about 18mbps. I might try using a still image for shadow demonstration instead, that should be razor sharp because it would have no movement compression.
      Appreciate the feedback

    I got the Anker Prime powerbank 20,000 mAh and it runs the Molus x100 at 100% with USBC. I got it with the battery but since reviews kept saying it had issues I wanted to be extra safe and so far love it.
