      Thank you so much. I used a straw hat and a glue gun to attach all the pieces to it, lol.

    I'm gonna send you a picture on messenger....I was a professional puppeteer when I was a kid. Jim Henson tried to recruit me to work on the Muppet movie. That picture reminded me of the puppet workshop.

    P.S well done on the winning dolls, how lovely that must have been to come first and even third. Your dolls are gorgeous.

      Thanks. All three of of my German dolls that I brought in came in first, second and third place. The other people that had their dolls judged were annoyed because my dolls kept winning all the ribbons and there were hundreds of competitors , lol.

      Haha good for you, I enjoy your videos because you are not snobby about having these dolls you are real and the info you give helps me and other collectors. I’ve come across some snobbery in the doll world that’s not for me, everyone should be able to enjoy dolls of any kind and any budget. I could not ever imagine spending thousands on a doll lol but I love by budget fixer uppers the same as if they cost thousands haha x

    Lol I can see how the talking doll would be quite frightening to children, I did see a programme about Edison and the making of the talking doll, how the women had to shout into some kind of funnel to record their voice. My daughter was in the room when I was watching this video and I wish you could have seen her face when she heard the doll talk 😂😂. I’d love to have a automaton doll someday or even just see one in real life. Lovely video again ❤

      The Edison talking doll was such a flop almost everyone that bought one, returned them to the store. He got stuck with thousands of dolls nobody wanted. He almost went broke inventing this doll. The ladies that were reciting nursery rhymes sounded demonic, lol.

    Why are the reproduction Jumeau dolls so expensive? How do you tell the difference between an original and a reproduction? Also, I love the hat that you made.

    • @FuturesPast1
      @FuturesPast1  Год назад

      Jumeau Repro dolls are so expensive because some of the artists do such a good job of making them and use very expensive, high quality materials. The dolls look like the real thing and the artists use very expensive mohair wigs, clothes, shoes and accessories that are worth hundreds of dollars just on their own. These are usually award winning doll artists and they have a following of fans that want to add one of their dolls to their collection.
      For beginners it is very hard to tell a real genuine Jumeau from an antique until you handle enough antique dolls. After a while you can tell a fake from 10 feet away just by the way the eyebrows were painted, the lashes, the body was made, the cheek color etc.
      A fake or repro should always have an artist's signature or initials on the back of the head or shoulders too. In only a very few instances they were unsigned by an artist and those ones were copies that came out in the 1960s and were made to defraud collectors.
      There are quite a few fakes out there so you have to be careful. If you do not have experience in collecting antique dolls, you should try not to pay big $$$ for a doll until you learn the hobby more because you can easily get burnt. It can take a few years of collecting until you learn what is real and what is fake. Always look for an artist's name or initials. That is a dead give away that you have a fake.
