Thank you for another wonderful video. I've noticed that most of the GTO stuff and even what you are saying requires that you know your opponent to a degree. What if you just sat down and know no one? Do I just play tight and wait till I start seeing patterns? How do I do that with a full ring of players? I can't keep track of what 8 people are doing.
The room I play in has 1-3 nl and 2-5 nl. And they allow you to match the biggest stack in the room (of each game type, so if you're playing 1-3 you can match the highest 1-3 stack in the room). I especially like it when I start I walk the room before going to my assigned seat and I note who has biggest stack and I buy in for that amount. If they are not seated at my table I get a big advantage immediately

For one, you simply have the opportunity to make more money because you have more to put on the line. 2nd, psychologically most players flip out when they see a big fat stack walk in. It shows confidence and that you're not afraid to put a lot on the line. 3rd, it gives your bluffs more weight. If you try to bluff all in with a 20 bb, someone with a 200bb stack can call pretty easily even with not the most equity because they know once they call those 20bbs are all they stand to lose. If you have 400bb and bet 20bb, they're gonna be a little hesitant to call bc if they do and the next card doesn't hit for them, they know they may be facing a 50 or 100bb c bet
I would add some financial détail here,... You should be overrolled to get a hugecstacl and keeping playing ... The fact is if u have 50 stacks behind in ur br, When u get to 5x ur initial stack ur then playing for 10% of ur br!!! U should be overrolled then or/and to have a great edge... Since a while, i try to connect those sessions stratégies to my edge, particularly to my average showdown equity.... ( Sorry bro, im still french .😅 ) So, i also try to thing in terms of probabilities to pass successfully x times consecutively with the average odds i got... But i have to admit that im a showdown style player as life seems to have trapped me in low lvls with very exploitative players.. I say sorry to all who will read my french english 😅 👍 ❤
Jonathan, when you are almost never getting a walk with a 3bet even when you are playing tight and aggressive and everyone knows it. Do you still recommend 3 betting with KX suited? I can imagine two answers: 1) yes if your opponent is calling that wide you are still having a range advantage, plus you are deep and will be able to get big pots when you have it and avoid spots that you are beat. 2) if they are going to call almost any raise or 3 bet even with a butted range the exploit is to play tighter. Both have merits but you are saying lean towards 1 to give yourself more opportunity to make huge stack?
if your opponent calls to wide, the exploit is not to 3bet less, but rather to 3bet more linearized, i.e. 3bet more value hands like suited broadways and Axs und less bluffs like Kxs and suited connectors

Let's remember, Splash around can be justified playing Thin Value Hands. Hands that can make Top pair or can make middle pair with ok Kicker. All this with In Position, remember. ❤
Jonathan, I play semi professionally and I tried to get cute with a hand that cost me my whole stack Roughly $2000. I was dealt a pair of sixes, the flog game 6 7 rag. I checked my opponent checked. The turn was a 7. I made the full house I led out he re raised I went all in he called and turned over 6 7 for a better full house. I am not sure what he would have done if I raised on the flop but that was a horrible turn card that I may have been able to avoid!!!
How are you thinking that you can avoid this, by raising huge to make him fold ? If so, why would you want to chase him out when he only has 2 outs ? Sometimes you just simply have to lose! That's part of poker. To win you must accept losing to coolers. And to win the max you must WANT your opponent to stay in when they're drawing slim. To do otherwise is like betting 300 big blinds pre-flop with aces into 1 and a half blinds so you don't lose to a small set.
