I noticed that with every fight, not only does BF get better at adapting, but also starts to invent his own style of fighting, with the echo simply just copying the ability of the opponet, not necessarily their every last move.

A true example of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. It wouldn't matter who would've won at the end, as both could either "reset" or "retry", and both could adapt and learn from their past mistakes indefinitely. It's good that the corruption inside BF figured this out and fled, otherwise the battle never would've ended...
Chara was basically going to kill both of them in the Retry menu. It fled because getting killed in this menu would have been a permanent death for them.
Its crazy to think about it, too. Since you would also know that Chara would then lose at some point as well in the fight, only to reset, going on and on from side to side, until one calls it quits. In each others perspective, the other side would likely always win, but the person who won wouldn't have remembered that win, since the reset and retry would always get pressed until the end, unless i'm missing some lore here, or if this was done first try in each perspective, but it's very crazy.
@@jgoofy8233 We don't know if Chara lost at least once in this scenario, but it would have been possible. Even if not, Chara does not remember the past wins they accomplished. It is very impressive that Chara would dodge almost all these attacks on the first try though without needing to backtrack!
I think the best part I like about the echo ability is that it isn't a perfect copy. It gives BF the skills and instincts of his opponent, but not the mastery or experience to use them to their fullest.
true , we can even see it in the matt fight , he used the power but not at good as the orinigal holder used it , like the sheild break , bf only used it once when matt spammed it at some point
Are we going to ignore that BF was interacting with the corruption? It didn't look evil, it looked disappointed. As if it expected to win like usual. But it lost and it didn't expect that.

I don't think anyone noticed it, but in 4:10 chara's knife actually shows BF in the reflection, and that just goes to show how much work Chino puts into the animation
@Le_piece_of_cake Actually, Chara corrupted BF's attack into a healing beam, then few seconds later, BF also used it, this time it he corrupted Chara's Attack instead.
I find it interesting how *quick* Chara is with navigating the menu, almost as if they're aware that the more BF sees something, the more likely his Echo is able to replicate the technique
Nah, that's just the acquired speed gained from having to fight Sans over and over, especially since Sans attacks you in the menue when it's your turn.
@Burgundy1 Chara takes over *during* the sans fight. That's why you fully lose control as the player afterwards, because the sans fight is your last chance to turn arouns before losing your power to chara
Love how after Chara does the knife slam that breaks the background, when BF is attacking, it looks like Chara is standing in their idling pose, yet the attacks are being deflected. Yet we can see brief glimpses of Chara deflecting the attacks. Chara is just moving so ridiculously fast that it’s almost like they’re standing still when deflecting the attacks.
I wouldn't consider it insanely fast speed, more along the realms of the game world being broken so much so by Chara's knife slam that it can't "render" Chara blocking the attacks
Chino came back KICKIN'. This was FAR from what I was expecting, and it was all REALLY GOOD. The timing with both BF & Chara's attacks, the attacks in general looking amazing, the dialogue & sprite changes in between the song, everything was amazingly made. A great return to your stuff. Can't wait to see what'll come next from the channel.👏👏👏 Edit:Ok, back to praise this more. I CAN'T get over the small details on this one. ESPECIALLY with Chara's left pose, they show a reflection of BF. And when his soul get's ripped out at 5:05, Chara's left pose shows BF soul. It's details like that that I absolutely LOVE.

@@AustynL the reason BF couldn’t run away while chara was pushing his soul away was because it wasn’t boyfriends turn, you have to remember, Undertale is a turn based game so in any instance that it isn’t YOUR turn, you can’t do anything really, and plus chara had control over BF, it’s the same reason why he couldn’t move.
@@crashbash5294Chara is actively trying to kill BF. With time manipulation powers because of save/load, Chara is attempting different methods to inflict damage. BF is probably "retrying" to counter it. My opinion.
@@glquam07OHHHH that makes so much sense with chara saying right after that it took bf a lot of retries to get there. Every single one of those “loads” was chara loading the file after bf died cause chara prob wanted to kill bf themselves and not with powers.
I honestly love the concept of regardless of whatever BF's doing, whatever pose he's doing, or whatever shape he's currently in, he will ALWAYS be in that standard pose of holding his microphone like a damn Roblox holding tool animation everytime he dies.
Chino, this animation video has gone out of this world because of how amazing, awesome and spectacular it looks. Both Chara and BF popping off on each of their turns and fighting each other alongside their own abilities like BF's echo ability and Chara's shadow ability (don't know what Chara's ability's name is so I decided to name it that) and getting a glimpse inside of BF's body to see his soul and the corruption inside of him and then having to see Chara finding her way inside BF's death screen to try to kill him again but then, his corruption saved him from actually getting killed and then escaping the Undertale world. This animation is the goat and because of that, I'm adding this to my favorite fighting animations playlist. Excellent work Chino, keep it up 👍
Well that isn’t Charas shadow that is a form of them too kinda like bfs corruption but it’s called Hate it’s solely made up of all the Hate monsters had at the player/frisk during genocide and was pushed away from them and onto Chara

I love this for two reasons 1: chara acknowledges bf's retry ability being similar to undertale's continue/determination ability, so this is more of a fight between two beings with a groundhog ability 2: imagine the amount of times both chara and bf have game overed during this battle
I just noticed a small detail @5:05 where when Chara does their “right animation”, you can see the reflection of BF’s Soul in their knife. Props to you Chino for including such incredible detail in your work!

I love the detail of BF not being aware/ lucky enough to come out unscathed. He usually gets hit by the first attack or two when watching the opponent to copy/ mimic them, hence how he rarely gets hit until the next unique segment of attacks. _THIS IS CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT PEOPLE_
are you forgetting that bf survived a long fight aggainst matt after he got his awareness ofbf's retry and echo? bf seems kinda better in matt than in whitty's one, but maybe i just because that matt is almost just go all out and whitty you need to be more creative to fight

@@raymiles-rl2bc the only canon proof is chara attaking the world and player at the end, but even so, the world got back together with the sacrifice of a sould that should have been anihilated by chara's so called, one hit kill aka infinite dmg, but no, there was still a sould to be traded and still something like a world to be repaired with the cost way below the one of the so called 7 human souls to become a god, meaning that it isn't either inifinite dmg or a hitkill/one shot attack, i'm not saying is not powerfull, but is weaker than a monster with 7 human souls absorbed, why? the attack+reset/continue can truly eventually defeat it if it doesn't place your continue inside a certain endless death spot, so yeah, bf copyed chara's knife and dmg but no hitkill and because was similar chara infiltraded bf's retry place, that means bf can do the same to vanish chara for good, and if there comes a hitkill attack, bf is capable of copying it the moment it lends, and if we are talking about a bf that doesn't have echo ability, then there is no relation between them, if not a fight with echo, it will be done by fnf rules of rap battle and that's it.
I absolutely love the decision to make BF echo the moves. That made him A LOT more viable as a fighting character while still keeping FNF aesthetics. And my god! Never expected that someone will consistently get the proportions right.
This is sooo good! I love how insanely fast BF can react to half the things she's doing, and what makes it better is how HE LOSES!!! Most people would make him win because he's the main character, making him lose really shows that he's not perfect and his echo ability still takes adapting to despite catching on real fast, it's not perfect. I genuinely think this is immaculate! Keep up the amazing work Chino!
Chara has ten times the experience when it comes to resetting and retrying in battle. They have fought Sans for thousands if not millions of times to get how this works. BF on the other hand is basically only a beginner when compared to Chara, now while their ability to reset or retrying is very similar. BF doesn't have the mountains of determination that Chara has, Chara's mentality is "I can do this forever without getting tired" while BF is "I can only do this for so long". Chara doesn't care because they have nothing to lose, while BF does because he has a girlfriend to tend to and doesn't want to fight an enemy who is willing to keep on fighting over and over with no end in sight. So in short Chara isn't someone you should mess with, especially when you realize that they have done the genocide route and erased all of existence plenty of times without even batting an eye.
@@V_ARIETY4145 That depends on how many times this version of Chara has fought sans before encountering Bf because as of right now we've only seen Chara canonically erase one timeline in the game not dozens or thousands also they're not gonna have the best experience since they fight the same damn people every single time unless you want to get into Undertale AU which is a whole other can of worms that would take forever to talk about.
@@cobalt318 pretty much, notice that Chara only spares him AFTER he copy’s their ability to get heal knifes . The reason Chara won is because bf took the bait. Even at the end Chara made sure not to summon any extra knifes so that bf couldn’t heal.
I will say, I love the idea of Corruption and BF having a venom eddie relationship. Like they're two souls tethered together. BF is a host, and corruption keeps the host alive. And it seems like since they've been together for so long, that Corruption eventually just got used to his shenanigans and rolls with it. BF even asks him if he wants to go again. Like hes getting input from the corruption on if they want to try and win. It's neat. The idea that BF knows the corruption is there, but never saw it as something bad. They just buds sharing a body. Very cool take on the Corruption. The idea that neither are fighting for control. They're just vibing together.
I absolutely love how "in control" Chara feels throughout the entire fight. Whenever Boyfriend gets a hit in, it is either through total surprise because Chara wasn't expecting it, like Boyfriend Echoing their knife to attack or their shadow technique, or Boyfriend pulling an Undyne/Sans and just throwing out as much as possible and one happens to land. Whereas Chara's attacks always feel like they are landing either because of that overwhelming force or because of better planning for their attacks. Like when Boyfriend gets hit by the single knife beam attack, and then Chara dodges through Boyfriend's multiple knives attack because Chara was just testing Boyfriend's Echo ability. Then later on, we see Boyfriend putting full effort into dodging a barrage of knife beams, whereas Chara just maintains a position that happens to dodge long enough to dodge, thus expending less energy to keep fighting. Boyfriend definitely lasted as long as he did thanks to his experience with Matt and even Whitty, letting him get farther along in a first try scenario like this one. But it wasn't enough, as Chara's awareness of such an ability allowed them to get one over on Boyfriend with the fake sparing, just as Sans had got us. And because Boyfriend still technically exists somewhere in the game world when he dies, Chara could find him, forcing the option to flee instead. After all, retrying at that point would still mean Chara keeps their own experience with fighting BF, and Chara just needs another kill to put them right back in a permanent death situation, except Chara is even more ready for it. This is definifely best as a one-shot event, because even Matt didn't hold the threat of permanently killing Boyfriend.

I think maybe if Matt was in Undertale bc most likely he would be unprepared And even if chara was in Wii sports I think they could have a good shot at killing Matt if he is off guard But if Matt is prepared and all that then chara most likely won't be able to kill Matt And Matt can't kill someone with determination And chara could get stronger and predict Matt attacks but idk
@@xxxadam_dollxxx8551 Nah, not at all. Matt only lost the boxing competition and he was holding back the entire time. Boyfriend never did any damage that actually legit harmed or put him to the edge of death. Boyfriend managed to beat matt because it was less about matt trying to kill him and more him trying to hold back so he wouldn't kill him. when he learned of Bf's ability, bf was no longer able to really content with him. Chara had the advantage because her save power is similar to boyfriend's and to be honest she fought more powerful foes actually trying to kill her so she's much more experienced than boyfriend. Even when Matt wasn't holding back, he was still fighting within the rules of Wii-sports and there's no killing in that. But matt said he could escape the game anytime he wanted to. I don't see chara beating Matt.

@@teshayweatherspoon9704Actually in their first fight it isn’t confirmed if Matt was holding back, noting how he was genuinely surprised when BF even managed to land a hit on him. Matt also notably has stated in the second fight that he doesn’t know if he even has limits and has shown a desire to use BF to push his own limits to see where they lie if they even exist at all, implying that Matt grew stronger alongside BF during their fights and will continue to grow stronger each time they battle.

This oozes with creativity and care! the normal knife reflecting back BF or his SOUL 2:08 how you took the little beeps and boops from Chara's voice that don't sound like chara and turned it into menu selection 1:352:073:35 Chara realizes they're not going to win if they just keep fighting BF after he healed to 100% so they trick him 4:33 BF keeps trying to push Chara to the back and into the knives, trying to strategize 3:01 Chara getting irate from BF singing megalovania, letting BF get a good hit in 1:59 BF not being able to dodge new attacks that he hasn't seen before and aren't super obvious 1:392:08 The 'wall' moving in the background to convey them moving through the heat of battle (it's like- the entire fight) BF suspiciously knowing how to dodge the MUCH much harder parts of the fight 3:19 ITS SO GOOD
I remember seeing a comment on the Matt fight about Matt wanting BF to not just Echo his abilities but also come up with his own pattern, and it looks like he did. That shield and spin attack you see when the music speeds up, Chara didn't use those (they did use the shield at one point, but after BF), that was BF coming up with his own way of attacking, and also he just didn't copy Chara's patterns but created some as well... He's really evolving
i love that his training with matt really set him off to be this active, i know bf has natural adaptation, but how he echo's the ability, recognizes the correlation between chara and sans, and sing his theme to lower their health and get a cheap shot in one verse shows how well chino put effort into how bf operates. He's cheeky but loves battle, but enough on that. My main interest is the corruption. it's active now, leaving the game to save bf... that's worrying
He's basically like venom because he wouldn't be just a mindless parasite in corrupting BF as the only thing, he basically is like venom where he has a sense of emotion

@fakeletobr730 I wouldn't really call Soul "mastered corruption" I'd call Him Bf's willpower incarnate. That willpower took form to remind bf who he is,and what he fights for. that's why he says "you know I'm not real right?"
@@masteruni6885 hum, that's not how i view it, but that's prob because of how it appears in some content, because in a way soul bf is less canon than some other stuff of bf, corrupted bf is more canon than soul bf in a way, as for how he is, yeah it can be viewed as his will taking form to show bf who he really is even trough all corruption, but in this animation, corruption doesn't feel that bad, or even already mastered in a way and that the corruption forms are only used when someone that bf cares is hurt or when something that bf messed up too much happens and he can't finish it up without using corruption
If he dies the corruption dies along with him. so as a parasitic being that got cursed onto him. Keeping him alive is top priority. Without BF it will die as well. So of course it would take the point to save him. Not sure how Chino made this corruption but so far it seems like a symbiotic one instead of a bad parasite.
This is near perfect. This man is keeping fnf alive, and I respect it. It’s no easy feat to animate something this good. I’m constantly awaiting a part 2 where the corruption helps BF defeat Chara. I’m proud of you. Keep up the good work.
You know the corruption really IS undeniably scary if it can literally TANK a "hit" from Chara's knife. Edit: Yes, I have read the description guys, the point is that even if the game is glitched, only a certain number of monsters can even survive being hit by a damage of 2500 above, namely Undyne the Undying, King Asgore, Omega Flowey and Asriel, and at the end of the game the barrier of the corruption was "constantly" blocking Chara's "knife hit" which means you can imagine how rapid the damage they were dealing. My point stands, the corruption's durability can be considered one of the strongest.
I really like the attention to detail. One of my favorite bits is that Chara gets hit by BF's first attack- not because they weren't expecting it, but because it's BLUE. Noticing that BF's blue-colored attacks are different from Undertale's, Chara takes to dodging IMMEDIATELY after.
I also don’t believe Chara realised boyfriend could echo her abilities (yes I call chara her just because) and that’s why she got hit by the boyfriend clone, then she realised he can copy her abilities then was more careful.

Awesome animation and one detail I absolutely loved was that in one of Chara's poses Chino took the effort to actually put BF's Reflection shining in the Knife. Which is honestly so subtle but so cool to notice. Edit: Also same happens with BF's Soul during the moment it is out, when Chara taunts BF the pose occurs again and you can see the Soul Reflected in the Knife.
Some people actually think that BF is supposed to be "fighting" his opponent in fnf mods, and that's a goofy layer that makes your animations so much more enjoyable to me
I honestly love how chara actually wins the fight and BF is quite literally FORCED to leave. More often then not when we see these kinds of things the animators or mod makers just make it so BF constantly wins and thats that, like he just wins and thats it. Here its actually making sense, And its not BF just winning because he hits every note and can retry, Its also so refreshing to see that the 'retry' mechanic / area isn't just.. some... SPACE where he gets the choice to go back and immediately go redo the fight, Mainly because chara & moreso the player had the exact same space and when BF's retry area is quite literally the only remaining thing that exists, It's so so so much easier to find him & permanently kill him. The mechanics of the fight were neat, it seemed actually balanced-ish and wasnt an insta-kill fest or a inf retry hellhole. Plus the animation was amazing,,,
4:47 I'm glad you actually did something interesting with this part. In all the mods Chara turns their knife to the player and... just swaps places with BF. I mean it's not like I expect them to force you to miss a bunch of notes but come on.
I like how there are such little details that make it so much better, like how BF managed to SWITCH Chara's knife projectile into a healing projectile ( 4:32 ) just showing how much time Chino puts into their animations. It took me 9 times watching the animation to even realize this yet.
I can tell this one had a lot of effort put into it. Little details like the afterimage effects, Chara's anger mark when BF sings Megalovania, even seeing BF's reflection in Chara's knife throughout the fight. Recommended watching this at 1/4 speed. Its like a whole different song.
Cool Detail to have charas Knife to show Boyfriend on the reflection on (Charas Left Sprife) [1:20] another funny good detail with the knife is at the end where its showing Boyfriends "heart" instead of Boyfriend [5:05] good animation man Keep it up.
I like how eachother adapts to eachother so quickly and comes up with counters on the spot. When Chara was attacking bf, he was deflecting every single slash, so she uses her ability (Idk what it's called tbh.) And slashes bf from behind. Bf also learns from this and hits her from behind while she was also deflecting. Chara also realizes how fast Bf is moving so she slows down, hoping to catch him off guard, but bf has patience so he manages to also counter that. I love the work you've done here, Chino!
to think bf could maintain himself in all the animated matt fight after he knows about retry is very surprising that he couldn't keep up so much with chara, but actually, is more like chara baited him to echo spare? and then completly won him

@@narrativeless404 the real problem comes from time to adapt, and that chara tricked bf, if not by tricking, bf could have won in the long shot, just like player get's used to the attacks as it's go on with attempts bf adapts as well, chara tircked him to not let him get stronger and force either chara to go really serious or to actually start to feel the pressure
Honestly I absolutely love the concept of Boyfriends echo and the fact he can give enemies a taste of their own medicine Whitty - His explosive fire moves Hacked Hex - Electricity + Energy Shield Updike - Revealing Light Matt - Basically most of his moves I like how boyfriend actually gets his own “Real knife” and it plus all of his attacks are cyan colored

i am in love with 3:18 because of these reasons 1. you keep noticing animation details every time you play it 2. it shows improvement in Bf thanks to the Matt fight. 3. EVERYTHING IS STILL IN TIME WITH THE SONG (Still dont know how they managed to do that) 4. if Bf had some time training with chara who knows what Bf would be capable of.
@@ElfinHat96 if BF Died wouldn't it show? The ending of the video would have been a lot faster because Chara needs BF dead in order to erase the game. And we all know what happened when he did die at the end. That line was just a pun for her reloading the save file over and over again "Retrying" the same part of the fight not expecting him to live (Much like a small flower we know).
@@sonamyproductions123 Chara said BF used a lot of retries to get to that phase which means we are watching the most successful attempt of BF. Until chara found the game over room where they tried killing BF for good.
I do like how Chara is dealing monumentally more damage to BF and BF is doing muuuch less damage to Chara. Canonically BF would have like well over 10,000 HP but has 25 or 50 ATK? It would be between these two depending on if Chara has The Locket given how much damage Chara is taking every hit proportionate to her 99 HP.
Actually true. The bar in FNF is basically an HP bar, and the player pushing it to the opponent's side is basically the equivalent of dealing damage. That said, given how easily Chara can dish out 99999999999999999999999 damage in a single hit, it wouldn't really matter anyways :P
@Mercenious I do find it cool BF won against Matt overtime but couldn't triumph over Chara if it was mentioned that they retried so much mid fight. That also means maybe Chara had to retry too and just that Chara's determination is stronger.
Its nice to see that with each battle bf has his echo adapts along with him, evolves even and becomes more than just “copying” an enemy ability especially in this song usually copying chara would mean he would also be corrupt but in this case its shown in a new light and he becomes a polar opposite, losing makes the song faster and he is willing to try again until it means certain death, the depth of all this with chinos return is god like
I am in love with how you animate Chara fighting, adapting the original Undertale battle system to something more visual while also adding in other things to keep the animation interesting.
So, I'm gonna assume this is due to him never using any "Item" moves, the moves have to be the actual powers of the person he's facing and not an item that's not of their own power. He can only use the knife because Chara seems to use and construct a powered version of it.
I personally think that bf is considered a boss monster in this context as chara is also a player and you can see her sparing which only players can do

This looks amazing Chino!! I really like the song and the animation itself! And I love how Boyfriend sounds kinda like UTAU during some parts of the song lol. (Especially the beginning: 1:24) I also really like how Chara can’t really decide what voice she should use, and how manipulative Chara can be when she wants to be! Holy crap Chino, that was another banger animation you've just made. I knew from the start that BF is absolutely no match for Chara, even when it comes to his time resetting powers, Chara will just enter into his subconscious mind and prevent that from happening by eradicating his subconscious mind, causing BF to be erased from existance forever. Since Chara/Frisk also has time resetting abilities same as BF, both of them can do whatever it takes to reset time to a certain state as long as they conquer their enemies. But when the player controlling them decided to not reset time, no one knows what will happen in their current timelines, it might be erased, something Shaggy is afraid for it to happen
i love how BF just gets with new abilities in the spot that chara never showed, like the shield and the spinning knife (he uses the shield before chara)
its actually a move he knows from heart during the updike scenario. When he defends the bomb he actually uses it there too. I believe it is a variation of his mic as he can spin it around and just used that. He has combat capabilities as well and some things in this fight he used himself without any powers whatsoever during the bomb defense sequence. The spinning knife. The shield being two of them. The shield he probably copied from GF though and knows how to use it at heart. Or its just something he can do. Who knows. But he can do some of the things way before the chara fight.
I like the idea of BF resetting every time he loses,makes much more sense as to why he can dodge Chara so flawlessly,I like to think that every time he gets hit is because Chara sometimes uses different moves after every reset since they are aware that BF resets,overall,very well made animation,bravo
Amazing stuff and always love to see bf expanding a bit more on his echo ability, able to use a few original moves when he's mainly mimicing a weapon, cuz I'm pretty sure unlike chara, he tosses his personal knife sometimes, along with bf making the knife orbit around himself while Chara flips while holding the knife. Can't wait to see what you make next tho! Honestly would love to see BF versus Ronald McDonald with MUGEN aspects implemented
I think it's more so they had to cooperate in that moment because mutual survival. As the Corruption is attached to BF like a parasite to it's host. So as long as BF lives the Corruption lives, and if BF dies so does the Corruption.

You can't kill a ghost Boyfriend. I wanted to applaud how in CHARActer this is-- Okay Okay, but seriously. The dialogue feels really well conceived and like it could feasibly follow the end of the game. Chara isn't written or choreographed to be overly edgy. I love that Chara is so focused on fulfilling their purpose. They're cold and goal obsessed and I think that came through very well. *** I also like how in the animation Chara unfolds a crazy ass barrage when they realize BF is playing like Sans. I think it may have been a bit cooler if Chara only attacked once at first--playing by the rules of the game--until they realized it would only be resolved by breaking the rules with extra attacks like with the sans fight. A very small criticism of some very excellently characterized fight choreography. (Edit: Though on rewatch that may have actually been the intention!) I appreciate all the work you exercised in the 'choreography', it definitely made me appreciate this character much more and want to draw and write with purpose and intention like this. *** You can really feel the push and pull of the fight, though it's obvious by watching their mannerisms that Chara is never feeling especially pressured. Puts a smile on my face to know a story is actively trying to persuade me why the ending will happen instead of mislead me and then gutpunch me with a seemingly disconnected or arbitrary resolution. *** The ending did feel earned by the end and yeah again I think that's partly because It's easy to make Chara generically evil, but it's hard to capture that creepy personality we encounter at the end of genocide. ...oh my god this was HYPE Not only have the events of the Corruption mod happened in some form in this world (as we have always known), but the corruption inside of BF is... actually cool with him? I'd really like an explanation for how Echo BF's relationship with the corruption actually works, if that's possible. Plus, the echo ability is just as OP as always and it's great. Would love to see this man copy more different abilities from different people in this funky little mod multiverse the FNF community has going on.
Seems like for Chino's universe the Corruption seems like a parasite attached to BF, using him as it's host. For now it doesn't seem hostile and with the end of the animation it even seemed to help BF in order for them to mutually survive. As I assume if BF dies the Corruption goes with him, so it's just them working for self-preservation.

A true example of an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. It wouldn't matter who would've won at the end, as both could either "reset" or "retry", and both could adapt and learn from their past mistakes indefinitely. It's good that the corruption inside BF figured this out and fled, otherwise the battle never would've ended...
By the looks of it, Chara found how to permanently get rid of BF, but was saved at the last second by the corruption
Chara was basically going to kill both of them in the Retry menu. It fled because getting killed in this menu would have been a permanent death for them.
Its crazy to think about it, too. Since you would also know that Chara would then lose at some point as well in the fight, only to reset, going on and on from side to side, until one calls it quits.
In each others perspective, the other side would likely always win, but the person who won wouldn't have remembered that win, since the reset and retry would always get pressed until the end, unless i'm missing some lore here, or if this was done first try in each perspective, but it's very crazy.

@@jgoofy8233 We don't know if Chara lost at least once in this scenario, but it would have been possible. Even if not, Chara does not remember the past wins they accomplished. It is very impressive that Chara would dodge almost all these attacks on the first try though without needing to backtrack!
I think the best part I like about the echo ability is that it isn't a perfect copy. It gives BF the skills and instincts of his opponent, but not the mastery or experience to use them to their fullest.

Love how after Chara does the knife slam that breaks the background, when BF is attacking, it looks like Chara is standing in their idling pose, yet the attacks are being deflected. Yet we can see brief glimpses of Chara deflecting the attacks.

Chino, this animation video has gone out of this world because of how amazing, awesome and spectacular it looks. Both Chara and BF popping off on each of their turns and fighting each other alongside their own abilities like BF's echo ability and Chara's shadow ability (don't know what Chara's ability's name is so I decided to name it that) and getting a glimpse inside of BF's body to see his soul and the corruption inside of him and then having to see Chara finding her way inside BF's death screen to try to kill him again but then, his corruption saved him from actually getting killed and then escaping the Undertale world. This animation is the goat and because of that, I'm adding this to my favorite fighting animations playlist. Excellent work Chino, keep it up 👍
Well that isn’t Charas shadow that is a form of them too kinda like bfs corruption but it’s called Hate it’s solely made up of all the Hate monsters had at the player/frisk during genocide and was pushed away from them and onto Chara

1: chara acknowledges bf's retry ability being similar to undertale's continue/determination ability, so this is more of a fight between two beings with a groundhog ability

I love the detail of BF not being aware/ lucky enough to come out unscathed. He usually gets hit by the first attack or two when watching the opponent to copy/ mimic them, hence how he rarely gets hit until the next unique segment of attacks.

I absolutely love the decision to make BF echo the moves. That made him A LOT more viable as a fighting character while still keeping FNF aesthetics.

This is sooo good! I love how insanely fast BF can react to half the things she's doing, and what makes it better is how HE LOSES!!! Most people would make him win because he's the main character, making him lose really shows that he's not perfect and his echo ability still takes adapting to despite catching on real fast, it's not perfect. I genuinely think this is immaculate! Keep up the amazing work Chino!
Chara has ten times the experience when it comes to resetting and retrying in battle. They have fought Sans for thousands if not millions of times to get how this works. BF on the other hand is basically only a beginner when compared to Chara, now while their ability to reset or retrying is very similar. BF doesn't have the mountains of determination that Chara has, Chara's mentality is "I can do this forever without getting tired" while BF is "I can only do this for so long".
Chara doesn't care because they have nothing to lose, while BF does because he has a girlfriend to tend to and doesn't want to fight an enemy who is willing to keep on fighting over and over with no end in sight.
So in short Chara isn't someone you should mess with, especially when you realize that they have done the genocide route and erased all of existence plenty of times without even batting an eye.

I will say, I love the idea of Corruption and BF having a venom eddie relationship. Like they're two souls tethered together. BF is a host, and corruption keeps the host alive. And it seems like since they've been together for so long, that Corruption eventually just got used to his shenanigans and rolls with it.
BF even asks him if he wants to go again. Like hes getting input from the corruption on if they want to try and win.
It's neat. The idea that BF knows the corruption is there, but never saw it as something bad. They just buds sharing a body.

I love how Chara's last pose before betrayal killing BF looks AWAY from BF. Adds to the fake-out that takes place immediately after.
This animation is actually beautiful, the time and effort put into this project.
I absolutely love how "in control" Chara feels throughout the entire fight. Whenever Boyfriend gets a hit in, it is either through total surprise because Chara wasn't expecting it, like Boyfriend Echoing their knife to attack or their shadow technique, or Boyfriend pulling an Undyne/Sans and just throwing out as much as possible and one happens to land. Whereas Chara's attacks always feel like they are landing either because of that overwhelming force or because of better planning for their attacks. Like when Boyfriend gets hit by the single knife beam attack, and then Chara dodges through Boyfriend's multiple knives attack because Chara was just testing Boyfriend's Echo ability. Then later on, we see Boyfriend putting full effort into dodging a barrage of knife beams, whereas Chara just maintains a position that happens to dodge long enough to dodge, thus expending less energy to keep fighting.
Boyfriend definitely lasted as long as he did thanks to his experience with Matt and even Whitty, letting him get farther along in a first try scenario like this one. But it wasn't enough, as Chara's awareness of such an ability allowed them to get one over on Boyfriend with the fake sparing, just as Sans had got us. And because Boyfriend still technically exists somewhere in the game world when he dies, Chara could find him, forcing the option to flee instead. After all, retrying at that point would still mean Chara keeps their own experience with fighting BF, and Chara just needs another kill to put them right back in a permanent death situation, except Chara is even more ready for it. This is definifely best as a one-shot event, because even Matt didn't hold the threat of permanently killing Boyfriend.

Boyfriend never did any damage that actually legit harmed or put him to the edge of death. Boyfriend managed to beat matt because it was less about matt trying to kill him and more him trying to hold back so he wouldn't kill him. when he learned of Bf's ability, bf was no longer able to really content with him. Chara had the advantage because her save power is similar to boyfriend's and to be honest she fought more powerful foes actually trying to kill her so she's much more experienced than boyfriend.
Even when Matt wasn't holding back, he was still fighting within the rules of Wii-sports and there's no killing in that. But matt said he could escape the game anytime he wanted to. I don't see chara beating Matt.

Matt also notably has stated in the second fight that he doesn’t know if he even has limits and has shown a desire to use BF to push his own limits to see where they lie if they even exist at all, implying that Matt grew stronger alongside BF during their fights and will continue to grow stronger each time they battle.

I remember seeing a comment on the Matt fight about Matt wanting BF to not just Echo his abilities but also come up with his own pattern, and it looks like he did. That shield and spin attack you see when the music speeds up, Chara didn't use those (they did use the shield at one point, but after BF), that was BF coming up with his own way of attacking, and also he just didn't copy Chara's patterns but created some as well... He's really evolving

i love that his training with matt really set him off to be this active, i know bf has natural adaptation, but how he echo's the ability, recognizes the correlation between chara and sans, and sing his theme to lower their health and get a cheap shot in one verse shows how well chino put effort into how bf operates. He's cheeky but loves battle, but enough on that. My main interest is the corruption. it's active now, leaving the game to save bf... that's worrying

@@masteruni6885 hum, that's not how i view it, but that's prob because of how it appears in some content, because in a way soul bf is less canon than some other stuff of bf, corrupted bf is more canon than soul bf in a way, as for how he is, yeah it can be viewed as his will taking form to show bf who he really is even trough all corruption, but in this animation, corruption doesn't feel that bad, or even already mastered in a way and that the corruption forms are only used when someone that bf cares is hurt or when something that bf messed up too much happens and he can't finish it up without using corruption

You know the corruption really IS undeniably scary if it can literally TANK a "hit" from Chara's knife.
Edit: Yes, I have read the description guys, the point is that even if the game is glitched, only a certain number of monsters can even survive being hit by a damage of 2500 above, namely Undyne the Undying, King Asgore, Omega Flowey and Asriel, and at the end of the game the barrier of the corruption was "constantly" blocking Chara's "knife hit" which means you can imagine how rapid the damage they were dealing. My point stands, the corruption's durability can be considered one of the strongest.

I really like the attention to detail. One of my favorite bits is that Chara gets hit by BF's first attack- not because they weren't expecting it, but because it's BLUE. Noticing that BF's blue-colored attacks are different from Undertale's, Chara takes to dodging IMMEDIATELY after.

Awesome animation and one detail I absolutely loved was that in one of Chara's poses Chino took the effort to actually put BF's Reflection shining in the Knife. Which is honestly so subtle but so cool to notice.
Edit: Also same happens with BF's Soul during the moment it is out, when Chara taunts BF the pose occurs again and you can see the Soul Reflected in the Knife.

I honestly love how chara actually wins the fight and BF is quite literally FORCED to leave. More often then not when we see these kinds of things the animators or mod makers just make it so BF constantly wins and thats that, like he just wins and thats it. Here its actually making sense, And its not BF just winning because he hits every note and can retry, Its also so refreshing to see that the 'retry' mechanic / area isn't just.. some... SPACE where he gets the choice to go back and immediately go redo the fight, Mainly because chara & moreso the player had the exact same space and when BF's retry area is quite literally the only remaining thing that exists, It's so so so much easier to find him & permanently kill him.
The mechanics of the fight were neat, it seemed actually balanced-ish and wasnt an insta-kill fest or a inf retry hellhole. Plus the animation was amazing,,,

I'm glad you actually did something interesting with this part. In all the mods Chara turns their knife to the player and... just swaps places with BF. I mean it's not like I expect them to force you to miss a bunch of notes but come on.
I like how there are such little details that make it so much better, like how BF managed to SWITCH Chara's knife projectile into a healing projectile ( 4:32 ) just showing how much time Chino puts into their animations. It took me 9 times watching the animation to even realize this yet.
That was actually an echo, Chara healed with a green knife projectile not too long before that happened and BF copied it.

I can tell this one had a lot of effort put into it. Little details like the afterimage effects, Chara's anger mark when BF sings Megalovania, even seeing BF's reflection in Chara's knife throughout the fight. Recommended watching this at 1/4 speed. Its like a whole different song.

When Chara was attacking bf, he was deflecting every single slash, so she uses her ability (Idk what it's called tbh.) And slashes bf from behind.
Bf also learns from this and hits her from behind while she was also deflecting.
Chara also realizes how fast Bf is moving so she slows down, hoping to catch him off guard, but bf has patience so he manages to also counter that.

Well chara says BF used a lot of retries to survive that phase. Probably Chara too since both of them can come back.

And we all know what happened when he did die at the end. That line was just a pun for her reloading the save file over and over again "Retrying" the same part of the fight not expecting him to live (Much like a small flower we know).

I do like how Chara is dealing monumentally more damage to BF and BF is doing muuuch less damage to Chara. Canonically BF would have like well over 10,000 HP but has 25 or 50 ATK? It would be between these two depending on if Chara has The Locket given how much damage Chara is taking every hit proportionate to her 99 HP.
Actually true. The bar in FNF is basically an HP bar, and the player pushing it to the opponent's side is basically the equivalent of dealing damage.
That said, given how easily Chara can dish out 99999999999999999999999 damage in a single hit, it wouldn't really matter anyways :P
@Mercenious I do find it cool BF won against Matt overtime but couldn't triumph over Chara if it was mentioned that they retried so much mid fight. That also means maybe Chara had to retry too and just that Chara's determination is stronger.

Its nice to see that with each battle bf has his echo adapts along with him, evolves even and becomes more than just “copying” an enemy ability especially in this song usually copying chara would mean he would also be corrupt but in this case its shown in a new light and he becomes a polar opposite, losing makes the song faster and he is willing to try again until it means certain death, the depth of all this with chinos return is god like
I am in love with how you animate Chara fighting, adapting the original Undertale battle system to something more visual while also adding in other things to keep the animation interesting.
This is so good and also what makes everything better is that its like an actual fight with some undertale things in it!
So, I'm gonna assume this is due to him never using any "Item" moves, the moves have to be the actual powers of the person he's facing and not an item that's not of their own power. He can only use the knife because Chara seems to use and construct a powered version of it.
I personally think that bf is considered a boss monster in this context as chara is also a player and you can see her sparing which only players can do

The animation also shows how much combat skill Boyfriend has, and how much stronger he is then he seems to be. His glowing blue eyes and the fact that he has a black shadow with glowing blue eyes (and a mouth) is really cool!! I also like how his shadow’s voice pitch is higher than Boyfriends! 🩵

Holy crap Chino, that was another banger animation you've just made. I knew from the start that BF is absolutely no match for Chara, even when it comes to his time resetting powers, Chara will just enter into his subconscious mind and prevent that from happening by eradicating his subconscious mind, causing BF to be erased from existance forever. Since Chara/Frisk also has time resetting abilities same as BF, both of them can do whatever it takes to reset time to a certain state as long as they conquer their enemies. But when the player controlling them decided to not reset time, no one knows what will happen in their current timelines, it might be erased, something Shaggy is afraid for it to happen

its actually a move he knows from heart during the updike scenario. When he defends the bomb he actually uses it there too.
I believe it is a variation of his mic as he can spin it around and just used that.
He has combat capabilities as well and some things in this fight he used himself without any powers whatsoever during the bomb defense sequence.

The shield he probably copied from GF though and knows how to use it at heart. Or its just something he can do. Who knows.
But he can do some of the things way before the chara fight.

Amazing stuff and always love to see bf expanding a bit more on his echo ability, able to use a few original moves when he's mainly mimicing a weapon, cuz I'm pretty sure unlike chara, he tosses his personal knife sometimes, along with bf making the knife orbit around himself while Chara flips while holding the knife.

I think it's more so they had to cooperate in that moment because mutual survival. As the Corruption is attached to BF like a parasite to it's host. So as long as BF lives the Corruption lives, and if BF dies so does the Corruption.

Okay Okay, but seriously. The dialogue feels really well conceived and like it could feasibly follow the end of the game. Chara isn't written or choreographed to be overly edgy. I love that Chara is so focused on fulfilling their purpose. They're cold and goal obsessed and I think that came through very well.

I also like how in the animation Chara unfolds a crazy ass barrage when they realize BF is playing like Sans. I think it may have been a bit cooler if Chara only attacked once at first--playing by the rules of the game--until they realized it would only be resolved by breaking the rules with extra attacks like with the sans fight. A very small criticism of some very excellently characterized fight choreography.
(Edit: Though on rewatch that may have actually been the intention!)
I appreciate all the work you exercised in the 'choreography', it definitely made me appreciate this character much more and want to draw and write with purpose and intention like this.

You can really feel the push and pull of the fight, though it's obvious by watching their mannerisms that Chara is never feeling especially pressured. Puts a smile on my face to know a story is actively trying to persuade me why the ending will happen instead of mislead me and then gutpunch me with a seemingly disconnected or arbitrary resolution.

The ending did feel earned by the end and yeah again I think that's partly because It's easy to make Chara generically evil, but it's hard to capture that creepy personality we encounter at the end of genocide.

Not only have the events of the Corruption mod happened in some form in this world (as we have always known), but the corruption inside of BF is... actually cool with him? I'd really like an explanation for how Echo BF's relationship with the corruption actually works, if that's possible. Plus, the echo ability is just as OP as always and it's great. Would love to see this man copy more different abilities from different people in this funky little mod multiverse the FNF community has going on.
