You do know that the term "mayday" derives from the French term "m'aidez", which means "help me"? It was symbolic to give such a great charavter this name. He was the one helping Crosshair finally seeing the coldness of the Empire, on this ice planet.
I have absolutely no idea how Filoni and the team do it with turning some anti-hero/villain into a complex character who’s struggles we see and resonate with. S1 crosshair the big twist is that he was never being controlled at all, which based on how you view it he technically still was because the empire had such a strong grip on his mind chip or not. Then at the end of S1 he saw what he left behind and that no matter what, his family would still be there for him. Now with S2 we’re seeing Crosshair live with his choices and how he just absolutely lost all taste for it. I genuinely hope he rejoins the Bad Batch at some point because I don’t want him to be some tragic hero who loses everything at the end of the story.
Although Filoni co-created this show and perhaps has helped with the overall plot; this episode was written by its main developer Jennifer Corbett, who is a name we will need to start learning, as this was the best episode of Bad Batch, period.
Brad Rau has confirmed they discuss the stories and characters with Filoni all the time. He still has a solid influence on the show, if a bit under the counter.
@@khelatar Ok, I wondered, since he is busy with all the other plates he has spinning. Good to know though; and good to see that he is also leaving the day to day running of the show in capable hands too.
I think the Vulture in this episode represents obsoleteness, which is what all the clones are feeling. A vulture knows when you are about to die, it is just patiently waiting for you to die so he can get the scraps. A vulture constantly circlig around them is meant to represent that they are near the end, the vulture knows this. It knows you will buckle under the weight of the elements or in this case buckle under both the elements and the Empire as they are considered obsolete and on their last leg. When Crosshair saw the vulture again he got pissed because he knows what it means and it will come for him too after Mayday. So in a last act of defiance against the innevitable obsoloteness under the empire and to avange his fallen brother, he shoots the Liutenant. I think they did that so well.
The best episode of the show, hands down for me. Crosshair finds a clone he can relate to, who is very like him, a bit grumpy and pragmatic, though seems to care about his brothers, whilst Crosshair has always been a loner. However, the bit where Crosshair picks Mayday up to rescue him, broke me. He's been saying since the BB's introduction in Clone Wars, that he'd happily leave brothers behind; but here sees now just how they are getting treated, and that the likes of Mayday, who followed orders like himself, to the letter, and who was probably a hero in the war, freeze to death and be looked upon by the regime he now serves, as an obsolete item to be used then discarded; is the moment he finally breaks and sees the error of his ways. Then just as he may have had a chance to then get out of this, the Empire brings him back in, to do god knows what nefarious things to him, so that he'll descend further into hell. Just horrible. I think the ice vulture is a direct mirror image of Morai for Ahsoka, which is a guide and guardian for her; here the vulture is now flying over all clones, waiting on them, for their time is now near. Nitpick : why are you watching with subs? You are an English speaker and this is an English speaking show?
Lots of people like to use subtitles for many reasons even if they’re not deaf/HOH. For me, i like having them in cases where the dialogue gets really quiet and it’s hard to hear what the characters are saying over background noise. I also like to see how the characters’ names are spelled especially if their name is unique and I’ve never heard it before. I wouldn’t know if I was even saying it correctly if I don’t know how it’s spelled.
@@laurenludovico2301 Thanks for the answer, and fair enough. I too am struggling with one of my ears at the moment so do put on subs sometimes for quieter shows; I just always think it takes it away from a reaction in particular, when they are on. Each to their own though, no biggie. :)
If memory serves, The Clone Wars also had blood during the s6 ep with Dooku and Sidious performing a Sith ritual in order to break Yoda. Sidious slices Dooku's hand and we see blood drip into a basin.
That LT had it coming! Haven’t seen a clone kill an officer since that one Jedi who made the clones turn against each other! Crosshair was on the verge of snapping! And his episodes have been spot on!
We saw blood in season 2 of TCW, Cad Banes green blood and in season 6 we saw blood when they removed the inhibitor chip. Also, season 3, when mother talzin pokes dooku for his potion shit.
I am worried for Crosshair with the way this ends. I could see them showing the Empire start it's experiments with Dark Troopers, which if they're adapting more legends stuff for them means the Phase Zero Dark Troopers were Clones where they replaced 70% of their body with cybernetics or basically Robocop in stormtrooper armour.
I feel bad because I think they’re going to wipe out Crosshair’s memory and he’ll probably lose all his progress. Then they’ll use him to trap Omega. JMO
Clone wars season 7 the final episode, the shot with vader looking at morai from the ground and above are almost exact the same as the shots with crosshair looking at the vulture.
If there is one Clone that I hope is gonna be back sooner or later. That will be commander Wolffe. He is one of the few named clones who hasn't made a return or been seen for a while. Maybe we will see him in the other episodes. Only "IF" he'll be there. And I really hope so.
Just wanted to point out we have seen blood before in animated star wars before. Earlier in the Clone wars first seasons when Cad Bane Killed the clone Denal and stole his suit to blend in, they found his blood on the ship, not red blood but green blood. Which is how they knew he had hitched a ride with them

End reminds you of Mayfield from the mandalorian

That guy was the worst
Imperial was an asshole he got what he deserved

We should seen blood more in star wars

I think that is what will happen.
Yeah i wonder what will happen to him 🤔
I did see someone on Twitter speculate that the Ice Bird was supposed to remind Crosshair of the Marauder and his brothers. I like that theory.

Love this theory

Such an amazing episode
15:31 Crosshair did the Clones and the Galactic Empire a favor. That guy was sh1t as a lieutenant.
Piece of shit lieutenant reminded me of orange from punisher series
fantastic call on the blood btw!
Thank you, Melissa.
Thank YOU
MAYDAYYY 😭
I can't. 😭
Pretty sure he was a hero rip mayday since order 66 was a big mistake for the clones

This was Dee Bradley's favorite episode and clone
Well so long Crosshair as we have known him. Should have left the Empire when he had the chance
Crosshair was a good/bad guy and was a complicated person
Best episode of the season 👏

Reminds you how vets are treated
