Watching Crosshair shoot the Lieutenant put a huge smile on my face
The entire time I was thinking "Just shoot this fucker" Turns out me and Crosshair think alike
And soon, Crosshair will die in the series finale and Ahsoka Tano will return to aid the Bad Batch onboard the VZ-114 killing all the TK Troopers with her new lightsabers.
@@jasonsacchi Wrong, that's not soon. That's over a month from now. Get your shit straight.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
You know, I was sure crosshair was start killing "unfit" superiors until he find someone he feels empire worth it
anyway glad he did what he did
It’s no accident that in my opinion, the two best episodes of this season focus entirely on Crosshair. He’s the most fascinating character on the show and this could slowly lead to his redemption arc now that he finally sees what the Empire truly is and thinks of him
In my point of view, Crosshair will die in the series finale.
I don’t think so…Hopefully not🤞
I couldn’t agree more. I’ve loved both of crosshairs episodes, hope he gets a lot more focus this season.
the rest of the episodes feel a little too repetitive compared to S1 for me. The batch go to X planet either for their own reasons or cause of Sid, then they meet a character and a conflict happens then they resolve it in an eps or 2. The only eps that have broken the mold a bit were the zilo beast and the wookie episode
They certainly are one of the best but I feel this season has been getting over hated the most of this season has been on plot besides the imo “bad episodes” 4,5,9,10 everything else has shown us the transition of clones and the empire. Just saying most of the episodes have all been good
This feels like the kind of episode that you show someone to show them what Star Wats animation can be. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve enjoyed all the episodes this season, but this one was really good.
Crosshair was like "guess what lieutenant, you're expendable too".
For real man😂😂
Slapped him with the Uno Reverse card.
He actually was
The cynic in me thought, “what if the crates are empty and they’ve just got outposts of clones wearing themselves down, protecting literally nothing, just so the empire can reduce their numbers”, and then the show went “that’s too easy, they’re protecting the armour for the guys who are gonna replace them, so while they have a purpose, it’s basically the same thing as Andor building the plating for the Death Star”
Treating human beings like equipment. There's space fascism for you!
I guessed Storm Trooper armor right off the bat lol. Getting tired of being right lol.
I was not expecting to be introduced to a new clone that would become an instant favorite. Mayday has been the most mature/experienced clone ive ever seen on screen. He was the exact clone Crosshair needed to run into. RIP Commander Mayday.
Mayday was so cool. Too bad the show decided to kill him off within an episode of being introduced.
@@theawesomeman9821 Seriously new clones being introduced these days never make it past an episode
@@lifedeather Nova in the first crosshair only episode and now mayday. It really sucks
@@danielboyle435 Dont forget about Wilco as well.
@@doomsterr completely did for a second there. That guy was probably one of the smartest commanders we've seen in star wars
I loved that Mayday didn’t get angry at the Lieutenant even when he was blatantly insulting him. It shows how tired he is after watching so many of his men die. I wish I could be that patient when dealing with assholes. RIP Commander Mayday. 😢
Its interesting to see Crosshair get attached to the regular clones since before he had little more than disdain towards them(aside from Cody anyway).
I think Mayday reminded him of Hunter, they were kinda similar.
But Crosshair won’t be around much longer in the series finale, and if Admiral Rampart escapes the prison in Coruscant, then it’s our chance to see his death onboard VZ-114.
He's also alone for the first time in his life.
Remember in his first episode the regs wouldn't sit next to him at breakfast
@@foulrot I couldn't agree more, and the phrase he said to the lieutenant about respect very much sounds like something Rex would have said, which is another clone Crosshair is familiar with.
It's all relative. The Bad Batch were familiar to him and the Regs weren't, but then the Stormtroopers showed up and now the Regs weren't so bad in comparison.
I think one of the possible main turning points for him in this episode, was probably because the other clone reminded him of Hunter, as they share similarities, which was a probable reason as to why he got so attached before, well...
Oooh I didn’t think of that, good point! I need to rewatch this episode again - I also saw someone say that Mayday was able to put into words how crosshair felt but was never able to verbalize himself
@@annelisewhite9607 Cody did the same thing before he went AWOL, he was repeating the same things mayday was saying, but it had to take mayday to die for crosshairs to finally get it through his head.
I know it's common for us to immediately get attached to new clones, but I _really_ liked Commander Mayday:
- His dismissive attitude towards the Lieutenant and first interaction with Crosshair were welcome shows of humanity.
- His name was very fitting for the desperate situation of his squad (and himself, after the avalanche).
- His helmet memorial to the other clones reminded me of Ahsoka's in _Victory And Death,_ as well as the shrine you can find on Zeppho in _Jedi: Fallen Order._
- I could be imagining, but I think his helmet's comm/speaker sounded worse than other clones', indicating weather damage.
- His wrapped armour looks like an attempt to stay warm, and could be invoking imagery of bandages, reflecting the dire situation.
- His armour also made me think of Kairos,¹ and his wrapped helmet reminded me of snowtroopers' helmets.
- The trick with the pressure mine was really cool.
- His slow, injured journey back to the base through snowy conditions reminded me of _Touching The Void_ (we always say we can see ourselves in fictional characters, but my actual name is Joe Simpson). Plus, snow was falling outside my house for the only time this year.
¹ A character from _Alphabet Squadron,_ a Canon novel trilogy.
He reminded me of Keller from Legends with a badass hood and cape
Honestly, I think Mayday was a combination of both Rex and Hunter. The phrase about respect sounds like something Rex would say, and Maydays demeanor reminded me of Hunter... So that's probably why Crosshair got so attached to him so quickly, he felt familiar with him and he's been lacking anything familiar for a bit. It was good to see that lieutenant get what was coming to him.
The more I think about this episode the more I love it. Crosshair's character development has been 2-and-an-arc seasons in the making, and right when he finally does the right thing, he goes back to being an experiment. Heartbreaking.
Mayday was a fun clone too, great sassy, war-torn characterization.
This episode hurt. Crosshair finally gets some respect for a reg, and it seems mutual, they bond, and the closest thing he has to a friend since the Batch left, dies right beside him while his superior berates his dead comrade and himself, he finally snapped, and its so good to see.
Definitely my favorite episode so far. Seeing crosshair finally start to turn and start caring. Seeing him, a character who is almost always chill and collected in such an emotional state feels different. I'm also sad mayday didn't make it, I had a feeling he would die but still.
I think the most surprising thing about this episode, aside from Crosshair finally saying 'fuck the Empire', was that they actually showed blood in this episode. And quite a bit of it too. I don't think in all the Star Wars animated shows did we ever see blood being spilled. That is a huge thing considering these shows have to follow strict censorship laws.
And a straight up headshot on the guy trying to get away on the speeder
Yeah show is definetely growing darker and it's the reason the shows are getting better and better.
Yeah, whenever The Clone Wars "showed" blood, it was always obscured to get it passed censorship or made it a different color than red. The biggest example I can think of is when Anakin found a glob of Cad Bane's icky green blood on the floor and when Ahsoka was checking his wound thinking he was Denal. There's a deleted scene that clearly shows the wound in all its green glory and the wound is even included in the action figure.
I think Disney realizing mostly adults watch Bad Batch lol
@@loveoffilm4327😂
Seeing Crosshair shoot the Lieutenant was so satisfying felt like we needed that for so long, for Wilco, Howzer, Cody, the senator of the planet in the 3rd episode, Mayday, and all the rest of the clones that were mistreated by the Empire
Fantastic episode. 👏
Crosshair finally sees what the Empire is doing to his fellow soldiers.
Can't wait to see how it'll unfold in the last few weeks of this season! 🙂
Rest in Peace clone troopers Hex, Veech and Commander Mayday.
It’s always crazy to me they come up with such cool names just to kill them off
The music in this episode was AMAZING, such a great episode for Crosshair.
So far the Crosshair episodes have been the best ones. Also, I liked how they’ve developed the clones so far in this season, because after what happened in Revenge of the Sith, one may think that they were like super evil and and heartless, but it’s totally different, they’re just like always, and that was a welcome surprise.
I really liked the lieutenant's outfit. Once you see it, it has obvious ties to Appa from Avatar the last air bender, as we all know another project Filoni worked on. The all white, the downwards arrow at the front of the helmet. Filoni has definitely made his mark on that lieutenant!
The shadow of the Ice Vulture was definitely meant to look like the Marauder
To me the vulture in the sky was me interpreting Crosshair turning back to being good and wanting to be a part of the Batch again ! Similar to that bird that follows around Ahsoka, symbolism for their good side, same with Vader at the end of the final episode of Clone Wars, he picks up Ashoka’s lightsabers in the sand and that same bird is flying above Anakin !
9:00 I bet Crosshair missed Wrecker and his expertise on explosives. He would’ve disarmed the mine easily
The lieutenant was voiced by Crispin Freeman who also did Roy/Red Arrow/Arsenal Young Justice and Kirei in Fate/Zero&StayNight UBW
Someone should remind Crosshairs he didn't have a problem killing clones recently :P
Crispin Freeman who voiced the great Alucard of the hellsing tv series and Ultimate hellsing anime series
@@matthewcostello8572 He was so good in that, his voice is just silk. A shame I watched Hellsing Ultimate Abridged so many times that became Alucard's voice in my head 😂
He was in other stuff like Hellsing, but I think Blind Wave didn't watch those so I didn't mention it.
also Itachi
Gotta be honest, I was really worried that lieutenant was gonna survive, just because he was that much of prick, the kind that they always keep around for an infuriatingly long time.
Crosshair: "Hey Lieutenant, isn't it sad that Mayday died of ligma?"
Nolan: "Who the hell is Mayday?"
Crosshair: *"Ligma balls."*
If the episode has crosshair it’s a certified banger..!!!! Nothing more to be said
Holy crap these Crosshair episodes this season are beyond epically good. Mini masterpieces in internal strife and emotional torment. The music of this one was especially helpful in setting the tone of watching Crosshairs struggle in coming to grips that the Empire really is a bunch of dicks. dee Bradley’s inflections in Crosshairs dialogue this ep went straight thru me. And ultimate satisfaction seeing him take down that Lieutenant. RIP Mayday.
The Clones just give off an emotional vibe for me so I always will route for them over these Empire d-bags.
Superior content!
crosshair is the opposite of comic relief. the rest of the batch get "fun" episodes but they bring in crosshair when they want to do serious material. 🤔
I was surprised at how emotional this episode got me. What you doing to me Bad Batch and all the feels
We’re getting more and more seeds that are going to bloom into a full clone rebellion, and I am PSYCHED.
Such an excellent episode. Crosshair finally sees the true colors of the arrogance and discrimination of the empire. I hope he can at least find closure with the rest of the Bad Batch!
Tremendous character development was given to Crosshair
This hit me really hard when I saw it, and even watching several reactions, I still get emotional about it.
I think mayday got his name by rescuing clones.
They would call mayday, and he would arrive.
My thoughts as it was about to happen “ I KNOW YOU NOT ABOUT TO TAKE THAT KIND OF DISRESPECT CROSSHAIR! “
Kevin Kiner is just so freakin good! Again, the music was just incredible. Dave Filoni has to get him to score the Ahsoka series.
I have a feeling Ludwig is doing the score but I do agree Kevin is such a magnificent composer addition.
Well...
Possibly one of my favorite animated Star Wars episodes, it’s at the very least top 5. An amazing standalone episode which isn’t filler. Crosshair’s progression has come a long way. Once willing to let a Reg die, now begging for a Reg to be saved. Crosshair has to be the best character on the show.
Fucking masterpiece of an episode
I saw someone post that when Crosshair shoots the Lieutenant the snowbanks in the background kind of look like vulture wings on Crosshair
This should’ve been a Crosshair show. These are the best episodes.
pushing a good soldier to the point where they feel like they can’t be a good soldier anymore must be heartbreaking but once it’s broken I think it’s easier for them to see that blindly following orders isn’t always the best thing a soldier can do.
I’m not ashamed to admit I screamed out aloud sting yes repeatedly when crosshair shot him
Crosshair has done everything he has because he believes it's worth it, because he believes it's the only way he'll get a shot to remain a soldier of the Empire. Now that he knows it doesn't make a difference he's breaking.
Love these crosshair episodes. Shows what are happening to the clones during this transition
Then the Clones will start uprising till the end of the series.
Damn man it took Crosshair a good moment to even remember his own name. Also I love and hate to see how fucked up the armor of the clones looked and if you look at the helmets in the background you can actually see that they are all cracked and there are even whole chunks missing in some.
He didn't forget his name lol, he was debating whether to open up to Mayday or not.
@@drasilisk2895 probably. But I prefer to think of it my way. And I'm sure that for a split second he was just about to say his number 'cause that's probably how he has to introduce himself in the empire if he even gets a chance to do it at all.
Very good episode
Was that medical attendant a Clone? She sounded like Omega. Looked like her too.
glad im not the only one to recognize that!
I literally clapped and cheered when Crosshair shot the lieutenant
Crosshair: Lieutenant!
The level of intent in his voice is... goddamn id say run muthafucka but its cross... run as fast as you like you'll just die tired 😂
was worried that in the beginning of the season the show had no direction, now i’m starting to see where it’ll lead
omega gets captured and brought to that mountain where crosshair is, bad batch go rescue her to find crosshair and he’ll have to make a decision that’ll either cost his life or betray his squad again
I think he may be too out of it to make much conscious decisions right now. Seems more likely to me that the Bad Batch will be the ones to decide whether to rescue him, and they'll decide to because, at the end of the day, he's still their brother.
outro, "Lordi - Dr. Sin is in" starts playing
I love how today we got three instances of Aaron freaking out about syringes being injected into people.
Crosshair episodes are THE best in the series. This episode was so satisfying to see him finally realize how he's seen now.
Personal theory about the very end: I think he's getting drafted into the Dark Trooper project
Dark troopers were droids right? A solid bet would be the Deathtrooper programme as they were enhanced.
@@DictatorGavlar The later phases of dark troopers were completely droid true, but the earlier iterations were actually cyborgs and, sadly, the clones would make perfect test subjects... willing or otherwise.
They reaaaally make you like these clones just to tear them away. Mayday was so cool. RIP to a real one.
I believe the scientist at the end, I think she is a clone. Voice sounds like a grown Omega, same skin tone, hair colour, eye colour is similar
I loved this episode so much! I felt like everything about it was just perfect in every aspect. The the story, the action, the emotion, the symbolism and how gripping and tense some of the scenes were made this episode feel so amazing. I also loved the score for this episode, it gave off everything feeling this episode was going for, dark and ominous, emotional and sort of monumental at times. And just like always, the animation is super beautiful, and stunning, it just seemed like every scene on this ice planet and for the couple of minutes on Coruscant and the interiors took things up to the next level when it came to the coloring and detail. It was all really amazing and just so visually pleasing with each new shot. Starting it off it was great to see Crosshair again, I was so glad that we were finally able to check in on his story again. And l boy did he go through some stuff in his episode. He had so much character growth/ exploration in just this episode alone it was amazing. We see how he starts out still following the Empire’s orders and still a little unfeeling towards things. But then by the end we see him disobey orders by choosing to save another soldiers life, rather than bring back the crates. And just to see him finally (after everything the Empire has caused him) crack and break out of his ways and finally stand up to the Empire was so exhilarating. Seeing him go through this journey was incredible. Now I’ve got to talk about Lieutenant Nolan, this dude was the biggest pompous Imperial stereotype I have seen in a while. He honestly felt like a bigger jerk than Tarkin. But I will say this, he was actually a compelling hatable Imperial/ character which made it far easier to root against him and want to see him get killed. Speaking of which, I cannot express just how glad I was when I saw Crosshair finally kill this dude. And I loved Mayday. First off, I loved his personality and how he seemed like he was tired of the Empire but knew this was the only true path he could have. I also really liked his design, with the long hair and beard and how dirty and damaged his armor was to the point where most of it was all bandaged together. Which makes the scene where he realizes all the crates are filled with gear that he and his men could’ve been using if the Empire had given them the permission even sadder and more ironic. And I think that he was able to perfectly fill the role for Crosshair’s reason for going against the Empire. Not only does he symbolize the morality and overall thoughts of all the Clones now, but we see throughout the episode how Mayday is able to appeal to Crosshair by talking to him how the Empire doesn’t care about Clones. And over the course of the episode the two of them bond. Which is what made it so much more devastating to Crosshair when Lieutenant Nolan refused to help. And this show got me again man, they introduced another cool Clone with an interesting personality, who had a really unique looking design and then they get rid of/ kill him off within the same episode. Overall, it was just really sad to see Mayday die after everything he and Crosshair went through. I am also very curious to see what the Empire would want from Crosshair at Mount Tantiss. I have a feeling though that it is going to have to do something with the Empire trying to lure in the Bad Batch and Omega. I just really loved this episode so much. It was perfect, it felt so amazing in every aspect and served as a deep emotional experience, character exploration and as a fantastic way to advance the overall story of the Bad Batch series. I am super curious to see where the rest of the story will lead the Batch and what will happen in next week’s episode.
This is definitely my favorite episode of the season. Maybe the whole show.
The music and that shadow of the vulture was soooo good.
The clones are such great characters and there story is a tragedy and because of 5's episodes in the clone wars it is maybe one of the most hart breaking lines every time a clone says good soldiers follow orders they were used as tools not people and than throw away
I really like the fact that Crosshair wanted to shoot him from the front and not just shoot while he was walking away
This episode seems like it was inspired by the 1993 WW2 film Stalingrad, telling the story of the encircled German 6th army who were sacrificed and abandoned in the freezing Russian tundra, without supplies and eventually marched off to die in Soviet captivity. In that film too, the downtrodden, betrayed soldiers execute their cruel captain in similar fashion.
Loved the reaction guys!
Crosshair rising out of the snow after the avalanche reminded me of someone coming up out of the water after a baptism. he is being reborn and all of his previous sins against his brothers are being washed away by the snow.
Amazing episode!
The music for this episode is really great! There were several moments where I thought how cool it is as well.
When they mentioned that the raiders were wearing clone armour I wondered at first if maybe this was Rex and Echo and a few other clones faking the deaths of men at the outpost and getting them to freedom.
I think the reason they want crosshairs DNA is for the Zillow beast to make it loyal just like how crosshair was until this point
Anyone else noticed at 15:45 after Crosshair shoots the Lieutenant, the mountains or hills behind Crosshair looks like he has wings, like the Vulture.
For those who are confused. The explosion blinded Crosshair because he uses night vision on the rangefinder. Same as if you turn on the lights with night vision goggles
Yeah people just like to spread bullshit they kids who know shit about guns and world
"that would be a waste of the empire's resources"
bro just give him a blanket and you get a soldier 💀
Now it does make sense why we didn't see much of Crosshair in this season till now. It's because he is gonna be the main focus of the finale. Just like saving Hunter was for the last one. We have 4 episodes left. Maybe Hemlock targeting Omega will lead to the squad finding out about Crosshair and Nala-Se?
The vulture flyover at the end was genius. Represents the empire just feeding off their dead bodies.
I love your videos and your commentary is hilarious, and I hope the bad batch can rescue Crosshair in time.
I think the Empire will capture Omega and Crosshair will help her escape and both will rejoin the batch…At least that’s what I’m hoping to happen.
This legitimately may be one of the best episodes of animated Star Wars ever
the music in this episode is incredible.
Every time I think of the clones I think of the last shot of the clone wars, just an empty shattered helmet. A blank visage that masks the hell those men went through just to be discarded like trash. And the worst part is that they were forced to kill the only people who saw them as individuals.
The most satisfying “YEEEESSSSS!” that we all felt.
I want a Mayday Black Series!
In regard to what said about how Clones are treated in Rebels, I think the Clones will Rebel, and then be given the bare minimum to survive, which may be how Rex, Gregor and Wolf end up on their fishing tank.
excited to see if crosshair becomes the first death trooper
That doctor sounds a lot like the adult version omega or it could be just a coincidence
I said the same thing. Probably a Clone.
Sorry I did not see you post
@@xxkillowatxx8599 I didn't see yours. I think yours was first.
@@dirtyhawkstv1575 ok cool
When Rick said Mythosaur my jaw dropped lmao
I love how even the still brainwashed clones not seeing anything wrong in the things Order66 made them do, are even realizing how badly the Empire is treating them and screwing them over
Great episode
Lieutenant Nolan has officially dethroned Sundowner as Crispin's Freeman's most evil role.
I loved this episode, it really reminded me of the rebels episode with Zeb and Kallis being trapped together. Also the dead clone whose name you couldn’t remember is named Captain Keeli
I wonder if Crosshair's view on the entire Empire is changed or if it's a more nuanced "There's bad people but it's fundamentally good in concept." sort of thing.
'Lieutenant's gonna talk shit and he's gonna get shot'
>_> ...
After noticing crosshair lost his helmet, I was really hoping he would have taken mayday’s, that would have been really cool IMO
This show was so great.
If I’m not mistaken, I’m pretty sure that this is the first time we have seen blood in animation since that one arc in clone wars where greedo kidnaps senator chuchi
Nah there was the greedo scene, the scene where Fives and Tup have their chips removed, and the season 7 finale has blood on Jesse's helmet.
@@thescruffinator8830 never noticed the blood on Jesse’s helmet, also remembered when the shark dude explodes in the mon cala episodes and his head floats past
@@kneza3411 yeah true, forgot about that one.
33:06 That man was Keeli and he is a fine soldier! KEELI COMPANY!
(we have an Arma group. If wanna join, tell em Kiwi is sending you)
The prediction I have is that the season finale is going to have Omega be captured and brought to Crosshair. The squad have to save her and different characters in this season and even Cid have to help them do it.
Cid is probably going to be the one to get omega captured for a quick payday and then feel bad about it.
My favourite ep this season
Come to think of it, this episode reminded me alot of Stalingrad.
Probably the best Bad Batch episode so far.
On the one hand, this is probably one of the best Star Wars things I've seen all year. On the other hand, why was all this effort put into Crosshair's story and so much less put into the Bad Batch's? Tone, character, consistency, theme.
I'm not saying the episodes this season have been bad, far from it, but you can definitely tell there were two groups working on this season. One that was Clone Wars level of writing (this would be the writing for the Crosshair episodes, the Clone Conspiracy episodes, with a few moments from the other episodes sprinkled in) and one that was Rebels level of writing (the racing, treasure hunting, wookie, child labor, and Zilo Beast episodes). It's really weird how distinct the difference is
Was it just me or did that medic at the end look like a female clone? Like a grown omega....alfa, perhaps??
Canonically Alpha is Boba Fett
15:40 Crosshair did the Clones and the Galactic Empire a favor. That guy was sh1t as a lieutenant.
I think Crosshair is going to try to escape and contact Bad Batch. Which is actually the Dr. plan to bring Omega to the facility.
