What amazes me is that the cast for Ain't Misbehavin only consisted of 5, while all the other musicals had many with huge stage set-up. Cast for Ain't Misbehavin was simple and yet more extraordinary then all the others! But that's just my bias opinion....they deserved all the awards they received! Big Congratulations to Nell she deserved it!
Nell, before passing away years later, had admitted that this night was the first night that she had done drugs. I'm glad she had gotten rehabilitated . R.I.P Ms Carter
I just love this so much.I love how CBS use Bonnie Franklin to open the show. Boy how I miss her. Please keep posting these show as many as you can !!!
The kid singing at 27:29 has got to be Carlo Imperato, who played "Danny Amatulo" on "Fame",the T.V. series..if not, then he's got a twin, lol. Thanks so much, pooch, for taking the time and effort to share these jewels with us.
. The late Ann Reinking at 53:37.......could NEVER take my eyes off her whenever she was onscreen in All That Jazz (1979).....would have been fun to see her receive her Tony from her co-star in that film (which was probably being shot around the time of this broadcast), had she won here for Dancin' ..... .
[ 1:09:38 ] Liza Minelli, Roy Halston and, I think - images are kind of dark, Steve Rubell (co- founder of STUDIO 54) jumping up and down in his seat. They probably celebrated at 54 later that evening.
and iHeart's farewell (? I really do hope not PoochSmooch please poke the tony award show ceremonies account once in awhile) to the Tony Awards continues well the lights theme has everyones name in lights dang there's a young Morgan Freeman in there 25:04 oh here we go a flashback to that musical okay time to google runaways (I guess we can kind of consider Runaways to be a kid friendly version of Hair) so how come there were a couple of characters had interpreters? of course Dancin' was going to win THAT Tony oh wait now they're doing applause god I hope Nell didn't touch that cocaine until after that performance Comdon and Green had a good night So why wasn't Neil Simon there was he sick?

At 53:23 is the beginning of Neil winning her Tony. I am so glad I stumbled onto her performances. She is absolutely wonderful. RIP Ms. Neil. :)
She was such a radiant presence. So talented. I wish life had been better for her.
Nell Carter! Miss her.
Nell Carter AND Lauren Bacall!!!! Cannot get any better than this!
Nell, before passing away years later, had admitted that this night was the first night that she had done drugs. I'm glad she had gotten rehabilitated . R.I.P Ms Carter

Debra Battle Makes since because from that year on, CBS would be the permanent home for the Tonys (they were previously on ABC).
Ohh god how annoying.. but I get it :)
that was a great year. saw almost everything that time.

Yes it is Danny from fame. I looked it up and carlo was in the cast.
Incredible!!
On the Twentieth Century...Magnificent show...Larry Fuller's choreography was fantastic...he is a friend.
Not a super stellar year, but so glad these are preserved online. It's a theater time capsule.
My nominee for best moment is at 47:21, the cast of A'int Misbehavin' doing part of the number "Ladies Who Sing With the Band."
Thank you, MissPoochSmooch!!!!
"I don't care whose little sister she is, that's an awfully long solo" OMG Hilarious.

25:04 oh here we go a flashback to that musical
okay time to google runaways (I guess we can kind of consider Runaways to be a kid friendly version of Hair) so how come there were a couple of characters had interpreters?
of course Dancin' was going to win THAT Tony
oh wait now they're doing applause
god I hope Nell didn't touch that cocaine until after that performance
Comdon and Green had a good night
So why wasn't Neil Simon there was he sick?
1:10:30 Liza Already crazy
I guess they started a bit too soo. Lauren Bacall clearly waiting for the camera to roll
Backstage at this Tony awards is where Nell Carter was first offered cocaine. A crippling addiction.
59:19 Music?
YASSSS
Where have I seen Anne wedgeworth.
She did alot of movies. She was in Steel Magnolias as Jackson's aunt Fern who made the armadillo wedding cake
Wasn’t she the woman in “threes company “. She was listed after by Don Knotts, but was in love with John Ritter’s character.
Liza, demented but I know so many stories... Still..talent beyond belief
@@steveb1164 Brilliant costumes...it was not a great show but it was still fantastic!

What a dreadful host - looked like he was winging it the entire time.
Got any shows from the 90s? That would be greatly appreciated.
I can’t believe Bonnie Franklin was ever considered a “star.” The 70s were a sad time.
ugh...dick van patton? why???? tooo many tv stars. possible the worst tonys in memory.... the bonnie franklin skit was cringeworthy
