- Join me as I teach how to re-pot and plant care for Adenium Desert Roses. Now is the time to re-pot your desert roses or prune them. I repotted all of my desert roses to help promote a more bonsai type root system or fat caudex. I share some care instructions and what to avoid. Unfortunately, 2 of my desert roses had some root rot so watch and see what is the fate of my plants.

Your old friend from india
Your Desert Roses look great. I only have two and I've had them for about 1.5 years. I plan on repotting them in the Spring. Thanks for the info!
Thanks Carmen. I repotted them now since they will go dormant for winter. I usually prune them around this time too but I will hold off on that for now. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍😊👍.
Annoying music
Do we need a certain size pots according to size of plant?
Yes, you shouldn't upgrade to much bigger pots especially depending on the plant which may like to be a bit rootbound. I need to trim up my Desert roses this Fall. They are getting leggy.
Hi, Ruthie new sub#152. I enjoyed your video very much. Thanks for sharing your beautiful plant and its care tips.
Thank you very much Jenita😊. I appreciate your support and am happy you enjoyed my plants 😊👍❤️.

Hi.....you have nice collection......I like your plants......they are really nice and healthy . Have a great weekend.
I am so happy you enjoyed my desert roses. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate your support👍😊👍
Hi, I have two questions. When is the best time to prune the desert rose and how do you propagate them??
But you are not wearing gloves.
Yes, this is not a good idea to not wear gloves. Thanks for pointing that out for others so they can stay safe.
Do you put it the shad after you water it for a few days
No, my desert roses are always in the same place. They even thrive without watering as well which is amazing.
Hi Ruthie. You are good at repotting. Nice Desert Rose. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber! Blessings!
Thank you so much😊. I am glad you enjoyed and truly appreciate you subscribing and support 👍😊👍❤️.
Do you water them after re-potting?
Yes, I water thoroughly after repotting.
What do you do when your plant grows straight up tall can you cut it short and replant
I like how you repotted them quite quickly, while raising them up higher in their new pots to expose their caudexes and roots more.
You have a beautiful collection. They look great. They are so beautiful plants. So sad that some have root rot.
Thank you Olga I really love all my plants. It broke my heart to see that rot since I am always checking but didn't think that the plants problem was so extensive. I will uproot the quickly next time if I feel the trunk isn't hard.
Beautiful adeniums! I should get one. I used to have one but rotted the bulb from the roots by overwatering during winter time... I didn't know you can raise them up with roots above the soil. Great info...
I am sorry you lost an adenium due to over watering. It looks like I had the same issue with 2 of mine. Also yes, you can raise the bulb and the small lil roots I will slice off at times for aesthetic reasons. I didn't do that at this time since I raised them quite a bit. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Like #17.. what a nice share about adenium care.. thank you
Thank you very much. I love my desert roses 🌹🌹and am so happy that others can enjoy them as well👍😊👍.
Wow! What beautiful Desert Roses! I’m sorry about the rotted ones. You certainly have a green thumb.
Thanks so much Jan. You are very sweet. I had honestly felt so sad that I wasn't able to save them. I had a video recorded of me attempting to do surgery and cut off affected areas but it didn't quite work out for my 🌹babies. Thanks for watching Hing and commenting 😊 ❤️.

Beautiful! Thank you for all your helpful tips. Have a Great Day 😊
Thanks so much and I hope your plants are doing amazing.
I love adeniums so much!!! Yours look so beautiful...
I finally got one on my birthday in November (they are super hard to find and really expensive too), but when I brought it home, it shed all of its leaves and I thought it was gone. I kept on watering it though, and it now has a few leaves, so I'm hoping for a full recovery once the weather finally decides to get his act together!!
Very useful tips, thank you!!
How often are you watering your desert rose? They do lose their leaves and grow them back and love fast draining soil. They also go dormant and you shouldnt water much at that time. Good luck with your desert rose 😊👍❤.
That’s a beautiful collection! I have six seedlings. They are supposed to be different varieties. Thanks for the demo! I can’t wait to see how they flourish! 🌱😀
Thank you very much much 😊. I would love to see yours. Do you have them on one of your videos? Thanks for watching and commenting 👍😊👍 .
They are on my latest tour. Still just babies!
@@PleasantPrickles I can't wait to see them when they mature then👍😊👍.
Why or when do you repot?
Hi Ruthie! I'm both a liker and subscriber from Lake Charles, LA. I now have a total of 5 Adeniems, 3 of them branched that I bought from a vendor off of Etsy. They're around 5-7" tall and I've got them all in small (approx. 5" diameter) terra cotta pots. Here in Lake Charles it's Oct. 9, 2020 and it typically doesn't get very cold in winter, however we do get a handful (3 or4) light freezes between 28 and 32 degrees, at which time I'll just scoot them inside to a heated room adjacent to my patio. Your channel along with a few more have been very helpful to me in my first venture in raising these sometimes temperamental plants. Best of luck with yours and sorry for your loss. Despite all the prior knowledge we have and precautions we take, a casualty will happen. 🪴
Major repotting Ruthie, very nice, thank you. Hope you can save those two that had rotting idsues. Are you letting us see the video of the cirurgy? It would be nice to see if possible.😄
Thanks so much for watching. I was all set to share my Adenium surgery. However, it quickly became a massacre and sadly not much was able to be saved. I will do a quick update but can't bare to share their demise much less watch it😢😢😢. It broke my heart since I really thought I could save them.

Do not feel sad Ruthie, you did what you could. These things happen, they are exotic and out of their natural habitat... do not take it as failure, rather thing on the bright side, you are beeing successful with all the others and they are so beautiful.
When I loose a plant I put it in the compost (except if she had anything contagious) and the thought that she is getting back to nature and that her death is not entirely waisted kind of comforts me. Take care Ruthie😄😍
@@FernandaNascimentoOrchids Wow Fernanda your words were very comforting and wise. I don't compost and should probably learn to do that. I just started really getting I to plants a lil over 2 years ago when. I moved to Florida so I am not as knowledgeable as I would like to be. Thank you so much for your kind words 🤗🤗👍😊👍.
@@Uneedmoremeds
Composting is very interesting, we can make soil from our kitchen vegetable peals and garden stuff. It can take many months for insect and worms do the recycling job. All you need is a secluded spot, with some sun to put a container with lid but without the bottom or with holes on the bottom and placed directly on soil to attact the recyclers. But to start with you a smaller amount, you can throw old leaves, rot succulents and other small stuff under the edge or under a bush which is what I do very often, throw them under my rosemary where I just noticed another toad living, a yellow one, lol.
Omg thanks for such great detailed information. You should do a video of you haven't already about composting 😊👍. Thank you for taking your time to explain this to me. I need to try this.
They are so beautiful love the way they are all so different
Than you Cristina. I love all the lil crazy shapes and forms that the roots form. I hope to have a huge old desert rose one day with an amazing root system. If not many 😆.
You have beautiful desert Rose , where did you you all desert Rose?
Hello and thanks 🤗. Some of them were bough at my local Lowe's or Home Depot and the rest at a nursery in my area. Do you collect desert roses?
Yes only few but they died.
Gorgeous! I just bought my first desert rose today and your video was super helpful.
Thanks so much Amanda😊. I love to hear that I have helped in any way. I love deseet roses so much. I try to get a nice fat caudex on my Desert roses so they look like bonsai. You are going to love your desert roses. If you have any questions please feel free to ask😊👍❤.
I made my first mistake. Just bought my first desert rose. I pruned 2 wks ago, and re-potted today😢😮
Beautiful
Looove the desert roses!
👋
Thank you very much😊👍. I am so happy that you enjoyed. I appreciate you watching and commenting 👍😊👍.
Interesting to hear about not pruning and changing pots in the same year.
My first mistake.😢
