I am ironically doing the same thing on my '86, but not as in depth. Just a quick wire wheel and scuff then spraying with some VHT epoxy that I have left over from my truck. When I dropped the k-member on my '88, my brother got a little impatient when I was looking for the spring compressor. Anybody reading this- DO NOT take the chance. My Haro Super Blammo was about 6 feet away and got a massive dent in the top tube when the spring let loose. Could've easily re-arranged some dental work. Great video that's even helpful to someone who's done it before. I'll be re-watching it when I finally drag my first car ('87 Maui Blue IROC) in to put the LQ and T-56 in it. Just sold my 4th gen to get the 3rd gens back on the road. Thank you for the upload and the inspiration.
I’m at the same stage as well. I need to however weld a new floor to the battery tray area passenger side and grind it down and apply body fill. Then prime paint and clear coat. I’m curious.. are you going to use the original k member or get a updated one?
Basically I'm at the same stage as you. I'm thinking of going satin black in the engine bay since the white shows allot of bs. Mine is a 92 and it has glops of seam sealer on driver side is yours the same? Going with any aftermarket k member?
don't go with a back engine bay. it will look WAY better with a color If your car is white, i suggest a light grey or dark grey. a dark grey would look WAY better than black,
I painted my engine bay black while I had the engine and trans out, and I wish I had gone with a different color. I don't think it looks as good as it could have
Haven't bought any paint yet. Still have to remove the ac box and heater core before I get to paint stage. Previous owner did trans tunnel all the way back in POR 15 black. Engine bay is flaking and has rust stains being white it shows it all.

that's why I like weight jacks.
no spring compressor needed.
Your videos have helped me a lot during my current suspension overhaul.

What happened to your coil over install video
had to pull it down and re-edit it. Copyright crap alongside 10+ other videos.
it will return April 9th
Great video as always! Would you happen to know the chamfer angle on the stock ball joint and tie rod at the a arm?
not 100% sure, but It should be 7.15 degrees.
ask Qa1, they'd know
