    Oh, very nice!!! Reminds me of my bike.
    Back in 2007, my gf at the time was riding a 19" Marin Pine Mountain which was way too big for her.
    I popped into the local bike shop and came out with an aluminium finish 14" GT Aggressor.
    She took one look at it and said, "Nah". 😒🙄🤨
    Fine, I'll ave it. 😁
    Took all the crap off it and replaced it with a 92 Deore XT gruppo and a couple of trickies I had off an old Proflex.
    Like you mate, a badly scratched seatpin, so I took off all the black finish. Took off all the decals, polished everything and put slicks and my beloved XT 7sp thumbies on. It's running 8x2.
    I've been riding it ever since.

    Pretty nice. One tip, I would not recommend banging the crown race tool to the race. It doesn’t seem like it would matter but placing the tool on the race and using a hammer on the tool will yield much better results. I’ve done a ton of headset installations and learned the heard way the damage that can be caused by banging the tool on the race

    • @garysprojects
      @garysprojects  6 месяцев назад

      yes - usually its better to replace the fork with the same travel as originally specced but sometimes you can replace and it doesn't change it too much if the axle to crown measurement is similar. I think it was something like for every 10mm difference you get 5mm in bb drop
