I love dill. Even tho I can't eat onions (sorry, Rik!), I think the sauce will be awesome. Another wonderful recipe! My binder of "Backyard Chef" recipes to make is growing so large!!
I like how you mix up the recipes. It’s like getting a pleasant surprise everyday. The dish looks delicious! And I would add garlic! Thank you, Rik. I look forward to making this dish.
I don't know why I don't use more dill, year round. Somehow I only have it in the house during summer cucumber season. This needs to change, now! Another delicious one I'm saving, Rik!
Never heard of this dish(and im finnish), but looks really delicious 🤤😍 We have in finland food called dillmeat(made originally from veal, but nowdays beef. Sauce is about same and it is sooooooo good Thank you for this recipe, i will be nakeing this tomorrow(and ofcource going to my todo list ❤)
Mein lieber Rik, du erstaunst mich immer wieder.
My grandmother used to make a similar dish but instead of heavy cream and vinegar she used “kajmak” which is an Eastern European version of clotted cream very slightly tangier. She would mix it in after taking the pan off the heat and it was also served it with mashed potatoes. It was my absolute favorite dish as a child and now it’s my girls’ favorite when my mom makes it for them! Looks so delicious!
Tack! Bästa hälsningar, Rik
Rik, you are having a lot of fun this new year!! I am too, watching you make fabulous meals so easy that you can't even buy even if you're a billionaire!!
Chicken in cream sauce delightful,I think my Mom made Swedish meatballs,as I remember having lingonberries in a jar as a kid,but it’s difficult to remember everything as it’s 60 years since I lived with my parents. I put dill in my cabbage soup which has cream, and lemon in it,and caraway.😊
I can't keep up, Rik! Yet another great recipe. My wife has certain meals she likes me to cook every week (others every other week or so), which makes it hard to squeeze in something new very often. To make it worse, she's not a fan of chicken, but I am going to have to sneak this one in, somehow. 😏
I was brought up on this, sometimes we had pork meddalions that were flash fried then finished off in the same sauce... What's next on your Swedish tour Rik 😅.. Janssons's Temptation or maybe a lovely Princess cake 🇸🇪...😋..
@@BackyardChef It most definitely does Rik. Though it is often called Dill gravy for some odd reason. It is the same sauce. Chicken /Pork & mushroom in dill sauce topped with pastry or mash makes a lovely pie too...🥰
I started to enjoy dill favor. Just a thought. Chicken marinade in spent pickles 🥒 juice from jar. the brine for a little bit? Rest what you did. Thanks for the great video you make. Charles:)
I'll have to adapt this to meet my dietary requirements but thanks so much for the inspiration! 'This dish does not have garlic...' I'm sorry, I don't understand that sentence?
Interesting recipie I've never been to Ikea here in melb Australia 🇦🇺 dont know if they serve food or even meatballs there i dont even know if ikea is still there I've never liked dill in anything but I'd give this recipie a go to see if it'll win me over with dill love the richness and creaminess of the sauce looks yum 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤
Except that this is traditionally (and in any old cookbook) made with lamb or possibly veil, not the fanciest parts. Meat with bones is cooked with onion, carrots, leak, root celery, some thyme, parsley and dill stalks until tender and then deboned awaiting the sauce. The sauce is simply the sifted stock from cooking with added cream or milk (a traditional béchamel) finished with an egg yolk and tiny amount of sugar plus vinegar to taste. Last you finish it off with lots of finely chopped fresh dill and pore it over the meat 😅 But I suppose chicken comes cheaper and above all faster for the IKEA kitchens…
Recently been to Ikea and purchased their Swedish meatballs and the packet sauce. I must say i found them a tad on the dry side and the sauce was bland. Now this recipe opens up another world for me and will give it ago ;)
Careful Rikmeister...you already have Aunt Bessie's, Findus, Birdseye etc after you for losing them customers... you don't want those Ikea lot knocking at the door🙂 great stuff mate! can't say I have ever eaten at Ikea
This looks sensational, Rik! I absolutely love onions and garlic, but my best and constant companion, my parrot, cannot eat either of them (or related plants), because they're toxic to our avian friends. I know that garlic isn't an issue here, but those onions are. I'm always looking for recipes he can eat safely, because he becomes highly insulted when I don't share, and he pitches a fit and slams a plate or two in protest! In this particular case, what would you suggest as a close but safe substitute for onions or other allium species? I was thinking celery or celery root. Thanks for sharing ALL of your delicious recipes, too! 👍👏💕
Looks good mate. Do you know why Finnish and Swedish Navy ships have bar codes painted on them? Is so when they come into port they can Scandinavian 😊. Cheers mate
