From Malaysia, the flag country, greetings. The practice of flying flags, which was once exclusive to commemorating our Independence Day, has spread throughout society, with both huge and little flags being flown everywhere. Being a Malaysian, I'm not sure if they do this out of a sense of patriotism or because they're too lazy to remove their flags after using them for Independence Day or simply to display them as part of their decorations. One thing is certain, though: Malaysians are generally very proud of our country, even though I am not surprised that tourists may occasionally be unsure if we are in the middle of celebrating Independence Day by looking at many flags around us.
It's an indicator of the feel good politically in Malaysia. When people are happy they fly the flag. If they hate the government they despised it by not flying the flag. Malaysians are not vocally or physically expressed people. They do it in silence and subtle. 😊
