    You know if you ran up say 100' - 200' feet of 4" pvc pipe and a nice flex hose on the end this would give you boo coo suction.

    what length of hose was the sweet spot? I heard 18 was too short and 100 was too long.

    • @divergentthinking8324
      @divergentthinking8324  Год назад

      Wish I could answer that quickly for you every spot is different the same length hose brought up an elevation makes it so your Sluice box gets blown out and you got to go to a wider sluice. For transporting long distances I found 18 ft of hose just because it happened to be that long and then I stack on 10 ft sections of thin wall PVC, material flows better through the PVC due to less friction then it does the rubber hose. So I run an 8-in a 10 inch or a 12-in wide sluice with the same crash box depending on how much drop I have .

      @@divergentthinking8324 I understand, thank you. I still haven't been out but I bought about 100' of 1 1/2 hose from harbor freight. might be too small but 1" pvc rounded on edges make a tight seal for a coupler. I can't wait to get out there and try it.

      @@mattc6226 I'm happy to hear you're going out and give it a try. Once you start doing it your mind I'll tell you what you need to do. I wish you the best out there, I did receive an official paperwork from the BLM that addresses the gravity that I'd be happy to send you a copy of if you're in California. Thanks to Jim Rankin he's got it incorporated into the new rules and believe it or not metal detecting too which was not in it. Progress at snail speed.

      @@mattc6226 one problem with layflat is if using in a siphon dredge is negative pressure collapses it , chokes it and it stays closed as the water try to run on down hill. so the highest part of the system needs to be non collapsing like either ridged pvc and at the very top spa hose. If your running gravity say from a higher source ( note each 2 feet of drop equals about 1 psi) so if you had spa hose for first 40 feet of drop you would get 20 psi at start of lay flat and it would stay open to transport water but you would not get increased suction from added vertical drop I don't think. Because any greater flow down the layflat would suck it flat. Where I mine in idaho I've thought with 1200 feet of layflat I could go up a side canyon put in larger to smaller ridged pvc for say first 100 feet ( eg if I had 5 -4inch pipes 5 three inch 5 2 inch. And 5 1.5 they could slip inside each other and only take up a 4 by 20 inch space on a roof rack and with 90 feet of vertical drop maybe have enough pressure for a dredge nozel but definitely for a highbanker. Btw by starting with bigger dia pipe at each constriction the speed of the flow increases. A friend of a friend in Nevada stats with 8" the 6 then 4 then two by the time it gets to his wash plant

      @@jeffbybee5207 thanks for the info. I don't have lay flat/discharge line. I thought about that because it's cheap but it also tears too easily. I have riffled but I might try some larger hoses at beginning with that ino.

      I'm not sure what neck of the woods you're in but if you have a store that caters to Orchards they call it the white ring water hose and I believe that 2 in. I have a girls number posted here that sells good quality hose cheap with free delivery but I just don't know how to find it on my channel for you I gave it a half-ass attempt but I'll try again down the road see if I can find it in case you can't get any nearby you.
