    When hemming. Do you need a zig zag stitch or can I use a straight stitch. What would be the recommended settings for straight stitch. Thank you

      @StitchingMall  Год назад +1

      When hemming, you can use either a zigzag stitch or a straight stitch depending on the type of fabric you are using. For woven fabrics, it is recommended to use a straight stitch. However, for knit fabrics, it is better to use a zigzag stitch to allow for some stretch and flexibility.
      When using a straight stitch, the recommended settings for hemming would depend on the type of fabric you are using. As a general rule, it is recommended to use a shorter stitch length than usual, usually around 2.0 to 2.5, to make the hem stronger and prevent it from unraveling. Additionally, you can adjust the tension of your machine to prevent any puckering or pulling of the fabric.
      It is always a good idea to test your stitch settings on a scrap piece of fabric before hemming your actual garment to ensure the best results.

    Hi! thank you for the video but i'm a little confused. Where do you drop the needle? are you doing a straight stitch right on the edge?

    Do I need to reverse sew it at the end? Do you sew with the shirt inside out? Sorry beginner here & thank you

    • @StitchingMall
      @StitchingMall  2 года назад +5

      Yes if you reverse sew it at the end that would be ensure stitches do not come out/pucker.
      Sewing or hemming while shirt is inside out would make folding easier.
      I love sharing because I also learn with all of you. Thanks for asking

    What about the possibility of the thread hem popping when putting the shirt on?

    • @StitchingMall
      @StitchingMall  2 года назад +1

      No thread hem would not pop up. No possibility of that kind.

    When I removed my sewing machine’s free arm it was too big for my sleeve to go thru loosely. I couldn’t hem it at all bc it was so tight. 😢 My sleeve is also smaller than yours in the video

    • @StitchingMall
      @StitchingMall  Год назад +2

      I understand. This situation brings discomfort while hemming the sleeve.
      You may remove side stitch of the sleeve, and then the sleeve would be open to hem easily.
